The best part about the warden is that you have 4 buttons you use every fight and some other skills you use a lot less. So in case you hate running around with 5 action bars filled to the brim that you need to have in case mob X does Y you might want to consider running a warden.
The way the intros work is that the Elves and Dwarfs do more or less the same intro (different opening vignette and different first 4 quests or so) in Ered Luin, and the Hobbits and Humans do exactly the same intro (modulo the opening vignette) in Archet. Once you have completed said intro (which generally should get you to level 6), you are placed in your race's starting area; post-intro Archet for Humans, the Shire for Hobbits, Celondim (in Ered Luin) for Elves, and Thorin's Gate (also in Ered Luin) for Dwarfs.
You are not required to stay in your own starting area. Michael Delving, Celondim, Thorin's Gate, and Bree-town all allow quick travel to any of the other 3 for one silver, making it more or less trivial to go do whatever low-level quests you like. You can even do a different race's "prologue" (the quest line that leads into Book 1, not the same as the intro) if you want. Moreover, since there are deeds in each area, I've heard a number of people recommend doing all the lowbie quests in all 4 areas for traits and the extra xp.
It may also be worth mentioning that once you've gone through the intro with a particular race, any new toon you start of that race can opt to skip it, although this only works for that specific race. So if you've gone through Archet as a Human, your next Human toon can proceed directly to post-intro Archet, but a new Hobbit cannot. You also miss out on all the xp and quest rewards, so you'll be kinda squishy for about 10 minutes until you get up to speed.
After downloading, installing, patching, etc. this Mines of Moria folder is still on my desktop. With lots of 'Mines of Moria Setup' files and one .exe too. Can I delete this, or do I need to leave it there?
It's like six gigs, so I wanna know. >.>
Plan to play more tonight/tomorrow. So even if you do all the quests in your area, you can go to the other starting areas and do all theirs with no problems?

Oooooooooooo, I forgot about the transition to burnt out Archet. Thank you, that makes me very happy!
Well shit, I was not aware of this previously, but according to the FAQ on the LOTRO site, the Founder's referrals can only be given to new subscribers? So theres no way for me to get the $199 deal on the Lifetime Subscription now if I wanted to since I activated my copy of MoM already? I wish I had known this previously, especially after being told on here to make sure I like the game first before asking for a founder's referral, as this implies that I will have buy a new copy and start over to do that.

In the last 10 months (how long I've been playing) there have been no less than two opportunities for average subscribers to upgrade their accounts to Lifetime Subscriptions for $199. You could always just hope that another such opportunity pops up in the future.

You could always move the files, start the game to make sure you didn't break anything, and when it turns out you didn't break anything, delete them.
Re Archet/Shire/Ered Luin quests: yes, you can. There's nothing special about those quests, other than the fact that they're all low-level. I'm pretty sure you can even go through other races Prologues, after having finished your own. Not sure why you'd want to, though. (No, they don't count for the "quests in this area" deeds.)

Well, hopefully they do some kind of promotion for the 2-year anniversary in April then.
This game has crashed my computer twice now. Just playing and then, whoosh, computer is restarting. Didn't have a problem last night. I moved those files I was wondering about, so now I've moved them back and I'll see if that fixes it.
If that's not it, anyone have any ideas what this could be? First time I was just walking in the woods, second time I was exiting a cave/instance thing.

I don't know if the lifetime sub would be worthwhile for me. I'm currently paying $30 for three months. So i'd have to play the game for more than an additional 20 months for it to be worth it.
I pulled together a group to make it through Vol 1 Book 7, and all I have to say is fuck Angmar.
Three 60's and me (a 53 hunter) got our asses handed to us by Morthdrith. That fucker gives off so much dread our party just shit ourselves while he walked from person to person and murdered us. Luckily I forgot I had a Edelhart token in my bag, and we finally won.

Now I'm on to book 8, which is STILL IN ANGMAR.
Fuck this region.
I spent so much time in Angmar recently that when I finally travelled to Rivendell to polish off Book 5 I was blown away by how beautiful the game was.
I think the first time you run to Rivendell is one of the best parts of the game. Get to the end of Book 3, you're level 31 or 32, and you get sent to Rivendell. "Sure, why not. It says it's a level 31 quest, I should be able to get there no problem." So you head out to the Trollshaws, see a couple orange boars, no big, right? And then suddenly there are red bears everywhere. And stealthy cat things that gank you. And then the road completely disappears, so you're just running in a vaguely northeasterly direction, dropping one beast's aggro just in time to pick up another's, when you round a corner, come down a hill, and your jaw hits the floor, 'cause you're in Rivendell.
So now that MoM has been out for a while, is everyone enjoying it? I thought the original LOTRO was alright but MoM looks really good, if anyone has a trial for it I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
You know what's funny? Lotro Europe has a free trial anyone can try. I have no idea what's going on in Yankeestan, but over here you don't even need friends to play the trial.

How old is your PC?
I bought it when City of Heroes first came out. So, that old. Everything on it is fine, except the graphics card. After putting that folder of Moria stuff back on the desktop I didn't crash again, so hopefully that's all it was.

That reminds me of the time I was leveling there as my champ along with a guardian buddy, and we decided to try duoing our way to the gates of carn dum...yeah, that didn't go so well :P
Or the giant spider we ran into (spider train all the way back to the camp), or the instant death pools, or the stealthed dismounting mobs combined with patrolling elites...so awesome. The one zone where even duoing was tough pre-50, i'd almost recommend having at least 3 people for NE Angmar.
EN is Elendilmir? That's the server I'm on. I'm level 44 and looking to do parts of Book 7. Book 6 is solo I think.
Also, SSL Certificate expired this morning. Set your clocks back a day to play.
EN is English. o_O Like, European server for people who would like to converse in English. Sorry for being unclear.

So LOTRO's SSL certificate expired today. Heh.
Apparently the guy getting paid to say "Hey, guys? Uh...this thing is going to expire soon and when it does, nobody will be able to play our game" took the day off.
Picked this up last night, and have yet to open it yet. Was kind of an impulse buy, and i'm just wondering about a few things. First of which, is the kinship from here still active? I would love to get into a somewhat active group, since a lack of good groups is what tends to cause me to drift away from whatever MMO i'm playing.
Second, I'm also interested in starting a Rune Master, which would mean starting a completely new character. One thing I'm worried about though (and is one of the reasons WAR got so frustrating) is how difficult it can be to accomplish the earlier quests. Are the early chapters, especially ones built around playing with a group hard to find people to play through now?
Hmm, I guess those are my two big questions before breaking the seal on the box.
I'm on Landroval and if anyone else is please send a mail to RAIUS. It would be greatly appreciated.
I'm in a lovely little kinship now "The Three Rivers Council" but would be willing to start up a new PA kin if we could keep it going. I have a 46 Champ and a 12 Hunter. I barely play the hunter but would be willing to if anyone wanted a partner starting up. Edit: Might start up a minstrel or runekeeper, just let me know what you're starting as and I'll compliment it.
edit: Would it be better to try and reinvigorate Barrovian Society or should we just start anew? I was on Firefoot server and started a kin called Angmars Volta but eventually stopped playing. I actually transferred to Landroval because of PA but I wasn't aware everybody stopped playing.
Arkenstone is down and FantasticContraption is being slow as shit. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

To the dudes asking about my beloved Barrovian Society...
I logged on today as Edros for the first time in ages, and when I glanced at the kinship list, it would appear that everyone has died. There might have been 3 people who had been online anywhere close to recently. It saddened me, being one of the founding members, and basically the creator of the kinship. I can't believe it's become so utterly...dead.
It's been so long since I've moved forward with Edros, it's like I'm completely lost. I have no idea what to do with him. All the quests I have are ones I've had on there for well over a year, and I just feel like my head is spinning trying to figure out which way to go next. I love the character to death. He was my first character from all the way back in Closed Beta, so I really don't want to stop playing him all together, but it looks like I'm just going to have to move on and start anew.
Are 14 day trials available for LOTRO? I've been interested in it for a while, but in the ragged landscape of MMOs, I'm a jaded gamer and live by the "try it before I buy it" motto.

I'd totally go for the sword salute and the befuddling title if I had someone to pull this off with.

P.S. I am loving the Shire. Delivering mail, pies and finding stupid hobbits who get stuck in wagons. LOVE IT!

I would love to get the sword salute and firebreather going.
anyone around level 46 feel like doing some questing?? and later part of book 6.
I'm on EN Evernight. :P
t Reynolds: yea, that's a bit old, but it should be able to run the game fine, I played the open beta on a similarly ancient machine.
