and they don't pistol you from midrange...why exactly?
edit - actually, that probably does work for a scout that does a poor job of taking you out. a good scout you'll never see coming.

Aggression usually, too concerned with shooting me w the shotgun, instead of thinking it through, Is my thought. Or they just dont see the sticky? Good question though.

exactly. good scouts will avoid a head on attack by flanking and getting behind the crowd. once he supresses them with a few rounds, heads back into the water/runs away to reload and get more health if needed.

then they'll surprise you by coming back the same way they left.

It isn't that I don't see the stickies. It is that I run so fast I run right over them by the time it registers and they do have a pretty good splash range. Demos also seem to have a sense of when to pop them too because I always get killed by a demo that is far away when my screenshot comes up after death.

My favorite way to play scout is to kamikaze a medic in the middle of a big group of enemies. It's pretty satisfying to get your mark before the 2 pyros, soldier and demo even realize you're there.

I haven't played TF2 for a couple of days and I'm feelin it. I have to stab somethin in the back! I GOTTA! No I kid just got Brawl so I'm a bit pre-occupied. And I still got some leveling in WoW to do. But on the topic of prefered scout killing methods... I like setting them aflame with my pyro and pegging em with my shotgun as they run.

ty, have you seen a guy on the PA servers called "renzo" or "rezo" or something like that? watch out for him. he's quite the soldier himself.

It's Rengo. Yes, he is really good, I have no idea who he is, which sometimes scares me.

I also hate solders. Splash damage needs to be a touch higher. They can kill a pyro by pointing at their feet and only taking a quarter of the damage. I tested the rocket jump the other day and was able to successfully rocket jump 5 times before dieing. Demoman - only 2. Of course, that's all i play these days is demo (so im a little partial).

Hate fucking soldiers and anyone who thinks they are hot shit playing soldier. Its just too easy. Demomen give me similar problems playing scout but if you're careful they can be taken out. My biggest problem is my speed often times kills me. I'll run directly into a soldier, demoman, or pyro and just like a soldier a demo just has to bounce a grenade at his feet and I'm dead. More often than not though I'll run directly into a sentry. A level 1 and you can make it back around the corner but a level three you can't even start running backwards before you've taken 4 missiles up the ass.

I don't get close to pyros or soldiers as scout, since they can easily kill you there. Demomen, though, are easy game for any good scout.

If you don't want to get close, potshot him until he starts wandering off after health/retreating, then blast him. This is good against any class, and it's so gratifying to run down a pyro or heavy that's retreating, thinking that you've just run away.

And I'm no good at soldier D:
I only managed seventeen kills as soldier on the PA servers because it was the third phase of dustbowl on the first point, and I camped out that second-level area with the baby healthpack and the full-ammo box

I was playing Heavy on dustbowl yesterday, and in the last 10 seconds or so of the 3rd round I did the grandest kill ever. A Heavy had just came out of the tunnel at the 2nd CP and I was above him on the ledge of that building with the health pickup in the back. I jumped down and in mid air, as I'm plummeting down to him, unleash a stream of crits from my minigun. I managed to land on his head, and finally killed him after I stood on his head for a half second or so firing crits into his upper body.

    It was verily epic.

When I'm playing as a scout I love when I see a sniper, demoman, or medicless heavy. I mean they are all free points. In fact any class besides soldier that is by itself should be easy game for a scout. But ya i'm totally guilty of not using the pistol more. I use it at longer ranges but sometimes at mid range I tend to use the scattergun.

I always go for soldiers and pyros now. Heavies I'll attack if I can sneak up on them but I still usually die from them. But there are a few ways to take out pyros and you can usually do pretty well against them as long as you don't get suprised at close range. Soldiers are still my bane; have to come in close to do a lot of damage and then get away before they do the whole footrocket thing. You can't just peg away at them with your pistol as they have too much health to have much effect. The ideal is to get 2 shortrange shotgun blasts, run away as they shoot at their feet, taking away some of their own health, and then pop em one with your pistol. The problem is that second shot- quick soldiers will get you before you can shoot again or take you out as you're moving to a safer range. What's really annoying about that is if any explosive goes off under you, the height of the double jump isn't enough to get out of direct damage range from the rocket or whatever else is blowing up under you.

So last night I remembered what sold me on the heavy when I first played it. You know how crits tend to pop up when you've been really, really accurate?

Take a handful of enemy players with a medic in a doorway. Take one heavy.

I was just sitting there waiting for it, firing at the medic's target. "Come on, come on." Sure enough a stream o' crits came spewing out and mowed em all down. There is nothing cooler than waddling over a pile of bodies. Sometimes I get a bunch of kills, but it's usually spread out. It is very, very rare to get a bunch of people laying on top of each other.

    I love the heavy.

That was the same game where someone bitched about soldiers for ten minutes and all the soldiers went to blue team to fuck us up. I just gave up on medic for the night at that point. Why do you gotta argue with the soldiers, man? Theoretically, half of them are your allies.

Soldier v. scout fights are my fav by far when I'm a scout, but it's hard to get a 1v1 going cause soldiers attract barnacles like medics and such pretty often. I love the head games involved with predicting shots and baiting rockets you can easily dodge. It's all about patience and experience with both sides of the fight.

I just want to torch four or five guys in a small area all at once with a crit stream, then stand over the smoking bodies and taunt. And get screencapped.

That is the best cap a Pyro can hope to have. They're not very expressive compared to other classes.

I don't know if this is how it usually is, but my Scout-playing is seriously bipolar. I'll spend half the match dying uselessly, lucky to get even a single surprise kill before dying, then suddenly I'll route three enemy attacks in a few minutes, killing 4 or 5 guys in a row and getting away before anyone notices each time.

Also, had some good rounds as Medic on Dustbowl last night. Went on a couple Uber-pyro rushes with Ginger, and I actually survived both times. And then on offense, Rakuen as Demo and I did fairly well on our Ubers. Well, I think we did, at least, but since destructions don't get assists, I'm not sure how many Sentries went down. But the last one got the point capped, so that's good enough for me.

My favorite method of taking out spies is a crit melee to the back, especially while they're disguised.
