Reboot and Select proper Boot device

Ugh I just finished putting the hardware together on a new desktop PC, but I can get it to turn on and that's about it. I select the DVD drive as first boot, put the XP SP2 disc in there, and boot... but I get this:
Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

I have no idea what's going on.

Coincidentally, this is the first machine I've built that's connected by SATA. I don't think it's the problem, as both the HDD and the DVD are being recognized in the setup.

If it helps:
Asus P5K-VM
E6750 (2.66)
2 gb pretty noname RAM
8800 GT
