The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
When you launch Pidgin it appears to use whatever the previous status of the window from the last time you used it. If the buddy list was up when you quit last time, it'll pop up again when you relaunch Pidgin. If you had it minimized (or minimized to tray), it will duplicate that status on next launch. There doesn't seem to be an option to force it to show the buddy list at startup.
I might as well post a question in here while it's open.
Whenever I'm in a multi-user conversation in Pidgin, and I get invited to a second multi-user convo, the new one overwrites the first one in its tab, instead of creating its own tab. So if I'm talking to A, B, and C in one tab, and D decides to invite me to a convo with himself, E, and F, then the latter three would be added to the "users in this convo" list, and my name would appear there twice, and...the best way I can explain it is that the new one always overwrites my old one, and I can't find anything in Preferences that would help fix this.
A new version of Pidgin came out recently, there could be fixes for some of these problems in there. Alternately, you can always file a bug report, so at least there's some hope it gets addressed in the future.

Lock, I suppose.
I wanna see their faces turn to backs of heads and slowly get smaller

As wonderful as pidgin is, it's not perfect, and there are things it cannot do.
