It's fantastic to know that this is what our governing bodies have time for these days....

This might not be as loony as it sounds. Wasn't someone recently busted for money laundering through Second Life?

Yeah, that whole people starving and living in poverty bit seems to just miss making the list year to year.

I could argue that the OP is an over-minimalist, uninformative link-dump. Also, I could argue that this has been quite discussed and the article is quite old.

Instead I'll say these morons are ripping off an episode of Bones, and they're the reason the government catches so much flak for incompetence.

Anything that causes trouble for Second Life is good, up to and including nuclear war.

I suggest you do so then. I have no issue with discussing this in detail.

I did, tough. I was kidding mostly. Their idea is seriously retarded. What are they hoping to find? They're going to track down ever 11 yr old with a 70 who likes to gank lowbies?

They're fucking retarded with no concept of reality and they just see something weird and different to them and assume they know what they can do with it.

What the fuck is terrorist behavior in WoW anyway? Run your priest/Warlock/Warrior in the middle of a crowd and use your AoE fear?

Well, if you read the rules thread, it kind of indicates that you were supposed to start discussing in detail in the OP. If you don't edit it, the mods might lock this.

Edit: After reading the article again, I admit that I really have no idea what they think they're looking for.

No one ever seems to read the original report linked to this story - there are all sorts of other stuff they want to investigate - sneaky databases for one!

New threads, in fact, are pretty much discouraged on your first day, or else you'll end up posting shit that's been discussed. Like two weeks ago. You also look silly.

And your OP sucks. Just saying.

What if I were at work and couldn't open new links, or school? What if I'm paranoid? Wtf is this about? The title certainly isn't informative.

Think of it this way, but with a forum and your thread.

Which makes sense, but branching out into the bahavior patters of MMO players seems to lean towards the realm of paranoid stuffed shirts having no access to a medium they dont understand and thus feeling the need to shit up yet another aspect of our personal lives.

The idea that our government is behind the ball when it comes to web related crime is not far fetched, and I understand the need to beef up that aspect of security, but the rest seems like an excuse to wrap a tendril around something they have no viable excuse to be involved in.

A slightly better thread about this subject was created a few days ago. It's recommended that you lurk before posting, definitely lurk before creating a thread (since if you'd been around a few days you would've seen that this topic has been covered), and if you can't do that, at least search the forum before making a thread.

Also, please use more descriptive thread titles.
