So I'm playing Team Fortress 2. Disconnect from server, go to connect to another, it says I'm already logged in on another computer (I have never used this account on any other computer). So I quit TF2 to restart Steam. Exit Steam, go to restart, it says it can't connect and can't work in offline mode because no user credentials are saved (or some such).
So I restart the computer, and try to run it. Now it just gives the login screen but says it can't connect to the network. Uninstall and reinstall (seems to be a blanket response to such problems). Now it tries to run Steam, goes to update, gets to 26% and says "Only one copy of Steam can be run at a time." Of course, there's no other copy running...checked both programs and services (just in case). Just Steam Client Service, and it's not even running.
So I uninstall my antivirus (I remembered once upon a time hearing about issues with AVG, could be nothing) and try again. No change. Craps out at 26% updating, says only once copy can run at a time.
I feel confident suggesting it's not a router/firewall/network issue, since A) I was running TF2 perfectly moments before all this happened and
would network issues cause this "only one client" issue? It's not as though I installed any software that conflicts with it...again, I was playing TF2 just fine up until I...wasn't.
Anyway, I'm on Vista 32-bit on a Dell Dimension C521 (AMD Athlon X2 4000+, 2GB, ATI X1300 Pro 256MB, etc.). Any ideas?
