Gateway Laptop Setup

My girlfriend has a gateway laptop (Model # MX6433). I formatted her computer due to sluggish performance and a host of spyware / malware on it. Reinstalled Windows XP Home without issue, get on and find out that she does not have the Gateway Restore CD. So I went to the Gateway Support website and did a search for her model number, picking up all of her driver's listed at http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/ddaStep.asp?Tab=All

However, upon trying to install / update the drivers with Windows XP everything is coming up not-compatible or not working. Is there some Gateway Voodoo here that I don't know about?

As an aside, for whatever reasons she also had a partition that had Windows XP Home Media Center edition installed on it which I did not touch (and upon trying to boot up from that partition, told me it was corrupted).

Any suggestions? Can the issues from The XP Home Media Center edition somehow be interfering with her other, new, Windows XP Home OS?
