I finally visited my parents house for the first time in a while and was able to rescue my dreamcast from the depths of the basement. I've loaded up my paypal and am ready to go hunting eBay for games. I need suggestions. I can play imports however, I prefer my games in the english language. The only game I could find in my house was Virtua Tennis, so please, hit me up.

I'd recommend just hitting up the "Do you still have a Dreamcast" thread.
Mars Matrix - if you like vertical scrolling shooters.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Power Stone 1/2 - a 4 player fighting game by Capcom
Shenmue
Guantlet Legends
Those were some of my favorites.
Senor_Queso on
Duck was a neutral party, so he brought the ultimatum to the cows.
Jet Grind Radio
Sonic Adventure
Toy Commander
Space Channel 5
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Last Blade 2
Crazy Taxi
Marvel vs. Capcom
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Soul Calibur
King of Fighters Dream Match '99
Power Stone
House of the Dead 2
That's all you need. Everything else got ported or sequeled on another platform after the DC died. Of course, those four are the best Dreamcast games in the fucking library. If I had to give up all my Dreamcast games except those four, I'd still be happy. Sorta.
If you have to only get one game, make it the first Power Stone. Think of it as a glimpse into what 3-D fighting games could have been if everybody wasn't cloning Virtua Fighter.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

you're saying that under the assumption that the ports and sequels were better.
The DC version of MVC 2 is the best version, period. And if you've got a vga box and an hdtv with a vga port, bam, 480p.
Soul Calibur is still the pinnacle of the series in terms of gameplay.
in fact, you really need just about every fighting game that came out for dreamcast. Except Mortal Kombat Gold.

MvC2 costs a huge fucking amount of money, regardless of platform, although it sure is a lot of fun if you like the characters. But really, if you're looking for a good 2D fighting game on the Dreamcast (or elsewhere) there are better choices. Fatal Fury Mark Of The Wolves, for instance. I'm willing to pay $60 for a rare, classic game, but let's be serious here, MvC2, as a fighting game, was kind of poor. The stages were few, the music was terrible, and the balance was not there. All it really had going for it was the (completely and unarguably fuckawesome) character roster. Did I buy it at launch? Yes. Would I buy it today if I had not? No.
And I honestly preferred Soul Calibur 2 to the first one.
Besides, I try to keep these sorts of lists short. Nobody's going to go out and buy a dozen games just from some thread. I give the one or two most important suggestion.

Isn't it getting an XBLA port soon?
Shenmue 1+2,
Jet Set Radio,
Fighting Vipers 2,
Marvel VS Capcom 2,
Border Down,
Power Stone 1+2,
Mars Matrix,
I would say Rez and Ikaruga, Rez is a lot cheaper an in HD on XBLA, and Ikaruga will be a lot cheaper when it is out.
Good games that other people probably won't mention
Bangai-O!!!!!!!! (probably hard to find though, and unfortunetly one of the very few games that doesn't support vga adapter)
Sword of the Berserk (Mindless hack and slash still fun though)
Sonic Shuffle (Sega's answer to Mario Party and a bit more strategic/skill based, fun if you can find someone to play with, good use of VMU)
Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....

Cannon Spike
In addition to the others people mentioned. Ikaruga was awesome too, but it's come out on a few different consoles and is coming out for Live.
Oh and I loved Sega Bass Fishing...I'm a controller whore.(get the fishing rod controller!)
