Reinstall on Boot With a Function Key (SOLVED)

Alright, a while back I got the BSoD, and I called tech support and they told me to hold down a button or two and that prompted a bootdiscless reinstall of Windows XP.

I'm pretty sure one of them was a Function Key.

Can anyone help me out?

I've googled it (Function Key Reboot Windows, Function Key Install Windows, Function Key on Boot)

But to no avail.

You're probably thinking of a system restore, which you can trigger by pressing F8 during bootup.

If you really mean a full reinstall, then it's probably something the manufacturer set up so we'd need to know what make/model the machine is.
