I'd be all over this, but I lost my gear between my last post and now, and haven't replaced it yet.
That said, to be brutally honest, you may just want to cut your losses and accept the death -- Tainted Path is very deep, and seems to be intended for people with really incredible gear.
I just got sodomized in a corner by a Madremlas on Floor 27...
I stepped on a Sleeping Gas Trap, proceed to fall asleep, Madremlas comes over and starts hitting me and using his knockback attack, retriggering the sleep every time he does so, and just sends me from full health to nothing without me being able to ever do anything in response. Most bullshit death thus far. Whatever happened to the standard RPG sleep function that you wake up when you get hit? That was just uncalled for.
Whoever wrote Master Gaibara's dialogue needs to be sodomized by a rusty jackhammer. I just lost a plated Armor Ward +17 half hunger, thief protection, blast protection, because of his stupid fucking comment about wanting to break my melding pot if I try it out. I have a full Melding Pot and talk to him and nothing happens, so I figure I throw it at him to give it to him like every other damned NPC interaction in the game. He then proceeds to kill me for hitting him with a pot.

Argh, Rice Bosses are mean! I was moving all the goodies I had stockpiled to mountaintop town, so I took the cart to bamboo villiage, thinking I'd be ok with my fairly beefy katana and bronzeward. I would have been fine, but I had the bad luck to run into a soldier and a rice changer right away on the 6th floor. the soldier was right next to me so i killed it. It ghosted, and immediately changed the rice changer into a rice boss, who then proceeded to riceball me. i made a bee-line for the exit, which was half a dozen tiles away. Did you know riceballs can't exit a floor? One turn later, i was dead.
I feel bad asking for another rescue since it feels like I'm constantly being rescued. At least this time it was a fairly amusing death. Anyway, here's the code:

I just made a rustless Mastersword+15, and now I'm terrified of playing this game.
Same boat. I left my +13 Katana (rustless, extra damage to two or three things), +13 Armor Ward (rustless, half hunger), and newly found happiness bracer in the storehouse just prior to the point of no return - thinking that I didn't want to risk them.
As it ended up, I died of hunger on the 29th floor (oh, how that half hunger shield would have helped!) and then died after a rescue on 30 in the last room. (Ironically, I got a Storehouse Jar as the rescue item from the 29th floor rescue, so if I had brought my good stuff I would have been able to save it. I need to find a good item to send back as a thank you note...)
I probably could have finished if I'd taken it all with me - with the half hunger shield I wouldn't have starved, with the weapon and the shield I wouldn't have needed to use as many of my panic buttons - so I'd have had ones to spare when I hit the 30th level.
I'm working on a new approach now. I want to make a decent 1-15 set of weapons/shield - something that I'll never risk, and that will safely get me through all of the backtrackable points of the game for rescues and the like. But this set doesn't need to be uber - just enough to give me safety for the first set of floors.
But aside from that set, I'm realizing that I just can't get overly attached to equipment, even if I've put work into it. The only way to get anywhere is to put it at risk once I'm ready. Now that I've seen the Table Mountain levels, I'm not so afraid of instantly dying the second I set foot in them. In fact, with a good weapon I ought to be able to function just fine.
I've been stuck in standard RPG mode - I'm new to Rogue-likes - and have been paranoid of losing my stuff. That seems to simply be the wrong way to play a game like this. I scraped my way up to the top of Table Mountain without a significant weapon, shield, or bracer because I was too afraid of losing them. In the end, this probably cost me the game.
Going risk-free just seems to be a way to lose in this game.

Yeah, I agree. I forged ahead and I haven't regretted it. That might have something to do with me stumbling onto my first storehouse jar though.
I'm only on floor 20 at the moment though, so ask me again in a few hours :P
I rolled a BigRoom Monsterhouse, and ran away while the Kigny took out all of the rest of the monsters - and leveled up an ungodly amount, one shotting nearly everything by the end. I then stood on the stairs (just in case) and threw my exhausted staff of Paralysis at it when it approached.
It worked, and I got to loot the whole place (nothing exceptional, but I did get a Jar of Change that gave me a Razor Wind when I threw some junk into it)
Lesson: It can be easier to deal with one single silly-powerful monster than a roomfull of easier ones.
Hey, there's my party rushing a bomb. There goes the bomb exploding. There's my party (all 3 of them) rushing a death reaper. There goes the death reaper, leveling up once, twice, thrice.
When pots are thrown at the Warehouse door... their contents go away.
When that pot is the melding pot you just shoved your best weapon into, your best weapon (along with three others) goes away.
When you turn off the DS in a panic, hoping to somehow make the episode all Go Away... Well, it all goes away, all right. As in, your inventory, shield, happy bracer.... All go away.
(And the weapon doesn't come back)
Would kinda hurt less if I had lost it all to a death.
"Items in Shiren are all temporary. Items in Shiren are all temporary. Items in Shiren are all temporary. Items in Shiren are all temporary." (Repeat)
So far three wanders have set their sight on rescueing me, and non have yet succeeded. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue Deswa's corpse on the 50th floor?
Yay, someone managed to rescue me from floor 28 and left me a Chiropractic Jar... had to have been someone from here, though I didn't recognize the name. After dinner, I shall attempt to use my meager equipment and beat Table Mountain.
Okay, rescue time please. Floor 12. A popster tank killed something and leveled up, doing about 20+ damage per turn, and he can take two turns in the time I can take one. If someone could kill it and rescue me, and leave me a big riceball or two, I'd really appreciate it.

Wow, that was utter fucking bullshit. Was doing fine on floor 29, the mobs weren't *really* anything I couldn't handle one on one... hit a sleep trap and got killed by a dragon without waking up. Fuck.
The annoying thing is, I had an unidentified armlet on instead of my sleepless armlet... the unidentified one ended up being Rustless, which didn't matter because my equipment was already rustproof.

Oh man, that was insane. The room had 3 popster tanks, an inferno, and a few piggys. Right off the bat I confused the mess, and killed what was within reach during the chaos. The problem was the one inferno became a dozen, and the room became twice as large, thanks to the tanks. I backed down a hallway, killed a line of infernos, then took out the last tank, which at this point was an oldster. I pulled some good loot on this run, including a 4 charge storehouse jar! Here's the code:
I'm in need of a rescue. It should be an easy one, was only floor 6. Got cornered by two firepuffs, missed two swings in a row, and that was it. I had my good sword, a bunch of scrolls, and a pot full of shields I was taking to the mountaintop town for some melding and I really don't want to lose any of it.
Heh... I remember that one, I tried for about half an hour before getting to the stairs only to be cannon-balled in the back because apparently monsters got attacks before I could go down stairs...Anyway, the trick is not to be directly in a line with it. And remember that it only gets an attack every two turns. Also, if you wait while not in a line with it then it'll move towards you.
In other news: I just beat the game! Turns out I had been grinding so long that the last boss was pitiful. Oh well.
Edit: Oh yeah, and I just got another Happy armband too, and I thought I'd spread the love, so if I can figure out how to send people items; anyone want it?

Yeah, while the guys you are facing in Tainted Path will NEED you to have the most maxed equipment available if you want to get anywhere, I hear all of these stories of folk POWER LEVELING all of their gear for the Table Mountain Boss so unnecessarily.
I'd say save that Happy Armband as a NICE reward for somebody that rescues you...or if really wanting to "pay it forward", do a some low level rescue and hand off the Happy Armband to somebody where its REALLY useful (like pre-Mountaintop Town).
I'm doing the challenges and I can't beat #10. There is no way in hell you can out maneuver the tank.
I think I can safely say that was almost the nastiest of all 50 puzzles, so while there were a few others that gave me grief, I easily spent the most time stuck on this one. Also I think what you learn by finally getting this one will prove really handy in the real world of the game (much more so than a lot of the unbelievably setup Fay puzzles where, even if demonstrating a useful technique, you know DAMN WELL this could never happen in the real game).

Has anyone here played Torneko: The Last Hope or Nightmare Of Druaga? How do they compare to Shiren DS?
Also, does anyone know exactly what was changed in this remake?
Ouch.
Could use a rescue now.

I hate to be asking for so many rescues, I have shitty luck.
I'm on it. Time for me to return the favor on all the rescues I've gotten.
