I suppose that is possible, though I would have thought the first one would have required it. Seeing as how

Well! looks like im going to need some help! got surrounded by 3 skull wraiths in the valley of illusion.

they ganged up and went to town., i was sealed, confused, riceballed, slowed, and cursed. the only thing they never did was speed me up or teleport me away.

i killed 2 before the last one kept me stupefied while he punched me to death.

Right so I think you need to clear the whole Wandering Chef stuff to open either of those two dungeons AND I'm pretty sure you have to at least unlocked (not cleared or anything) those two to unlock Fay's Dungeon.

Well after a few tries and deaths i think i am ready to ask for a rescue! died on around the 11th floor in a monster house, have a good party (blinding lady, massauese and rescuing the little girl) and some fairly good items. It happened when i thought that using a confusion spell was a good idea, i think one of those hidden eye or whatever they are called killed another monster in its confusion, leveled up and then i went to attack it, and it one shotted me:\ so please rescue my poor self.

    my rescue codes are:

How do people get the Blinding lady and masseuse in their parties? Ive yet to even come across the blinding lady a second time, and the masseuse is just a dick who presses the wrong pressure point and wants to charge you to fix it. Which I've even tried doing multiple times, and tried throwing an Herb of Sight at him, and he just always does the same thing.

Pekeji is still the only bastard I've gotten to join me.

the masseuse joined me after i saved him from a beating at the hands of a bunch of disgrunted town members. similarily the blinding lady joined me after i beat two thugs up who were going after her. both times in a town (probably after i had run into them each a few times before and just talked to them) ive yet to get pekeji to join (do you have to give him money?)

According to some random website I can't remember if you finish the game with henchmen then they're in the ending... Any news on that? I mean, it hardly matters, but It's still pretty neat.

Edit: Little known fact: Grey Slimes are THE DEVIL. Your ultra-super-awesome weapon you just made? Now it's useless and it's never coming back.

...Okay, game, you've won me back. I just found four happy armbands in quick succession and then a hyper gaze hypnotized me into killing it with an attack.

Finally make it to the final boss for the first time, only to have my shit ruined by a Skull Wraith who completely shuts me down with a constant barrage of Confuse, Silence, and Riceballings. I managed to slow the boss, who proceeded to not pose a threat to me, but the rest of the creatures in the room got me with nothing I could do to say otherwise. Even with one Skull Wraith turning the other Skull Wraith into meat, it didn't help as I couldn't use any of my items or even move in the right direction.

On the bright side, that run netted me a Storehouse Jar which got me a Kabra's Blade and Dragonward to use towards awesome new equipment for a serious kick the shit out of everyone run eventually.

edit: The Melding Jar I purchased today along with a Plating scroll has now given me a Rustless/Half-Hunger/Fire protection/Explosion Protection Armor Ward +9 which shall be further improved as I find scrolls and money. As far as weapons goes I've got a Kabra's Blade +3, Razor Wind, and Sickle Slayer +3 I want to combine, along with a Minotaur's Axe when I can find one and something else to finish it off.

Which looking at the Shiren Wiki, how in the holy hell do I get a Bufu's Cleaver!? That would be nice. But I think I'm mainly look for a Minotaur's Axe and a Dragonkiller. Which brings me to another point, that if anyone else is looking for specific items, we could do trades via easy friend rescues and thank you laters.

Bufu's Knife is an exclusive item from the the Kitchen God Shrine Dungeon. You'll be issued one everytime you make a run in the dungeon BUT can only take it back out with you if you successfully clear the dungeon.

Exact same case with the Trapband which is issued to you everytime you take the Scroll Cave for a spin.

Well, I completed the tainted path dealie, that wasn't quite so hard as I expected even with the monster houses every 10 levels, but now I'm getting my ass kicked by the trap dungeon and the kitchen god dungeon. Interesting to note that you can take your companions into those dungeons though, which makes it a little easier.

I think that you can only gain EXP from trap-based kills in the trap dungeon, too. But what's with those numbers that appear under the monster which appear count the number of times it has been hit by a trap?

Not sure but I'd doubt it.

Actually, now that you mention it, I'm not sure if either of these dungeons generate Storage Pots and since you can't bring in any items to either of these dungeons, it might all be a moot point.

Yeah, I've never seen a storehouse jar in either dungeon, and I'd bet they never appear. The items that appear in each are definitely highly regulated -- for example, the only type of staff you'll ever see in the Kitchen God's shrine is Bufu's Staff.

(Incidentally, rescue missions in the Kitchen God's Shrine are quite worthwhile, because you'll usually find several Bufu's Staves along the way.)

Actually, whats somewhat better than rescue missions, is dying on some easy floor. While you "wait" to be rescued, you just do that dungeon and you "finish" it on the 10th floor with everything you picked up(returning to the storehouse), minus the sword.

    How do you upgrade shields?

By which I mean, I'm currently using a rustless half hunger blastproof armor ward +3. How do I increase that +3? If I meld it with, say, an iron shield +2, does my armor ward become +5?

I wish the blacksmith would just upgrade it like he does with weapons.

So of course after I post that I find three earth bless scrolls in one run, two in the wild and one in the shop. Still not as many as I've found air bless, but it's nice to get a few.

I also found my second happy armband in an awesome monster house on 8F. I'm going to be much more careful with this one, I found the first one early in the game and didn't realize how awesome/rare they are and quickly lost it.

What happens if you meld a sword with a pickaxe? Can your sword break through walls?

It can, but it also becomes breakable like a pickaxe too, so I'd avoid doing that ;)

I hear that after you beat Table Mountain, you can make an
    unbreakable pickaxe.
Maybe try melding that with the sword instead?

    Actually,
I took a pickaxe to the smith long before I left the point-of-no-return and he upgraded it for me. So I had never been past like level 16 or so. You don't need to beat Table Mountain. =)

Bugger. I'm dead. I was in the Kitchen gods shrine on floor 20 and decided it'd be a good idea to press a monster jar which turned out to have two super gazes and two chainheads in. Can I request a rescue? I don't know how rescuing in the other dungeons works, but it's giving me a code, anyway.

So, I click adventure while awaiting rescue and select the kitchen gods shrine. It's a monster house! Pit mamel did 4 damage to you. Pit mamel did 4 damage to you. Pit mamel did 3 damage to you. Rengoku II:
This is an action RPG with loads of different weapons and equipment to latch onto your robotic body. The "random levels" don't kick in until you beat the main storyline's 8 level tower.

    Dungeon Maker:
This is a bit of a reverse roguelike since it is YOU who creates the pointless levels to entice monsters to populate and then you come in the next morning and kill whatever shows up (so an elaborate Roach Motel).

Neither are really near the power of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer, but at least amusing.
