No way Vasquez was much cooler (and in terminator 2 she was Johns Step Mom) and her name is Jenette Goldstein. A lot better looking then Michelle Rodrigez.
I agree hands down, but she's still the closest thing we have to tough chick in this generation of actresses. We don't have a ripley, or sarah connor. Although the new sarah connor does a pretty damn good job.
Who Goldstein? She was of the generation that Hamilton and Weaver was. The tough woman is a type in hollywood that they have tried to manufacture, like when they try and play up Lucy Lu or Rodrigez. There are some good tough girls, like Sarah Clarke and Gina Torres. Famke Jansen was pretty rough and tumble in Golden Eye but as of late she hasn't taken that many physical roles.

I dunno all it takes is one good role and shes back in it. The issue is really the writing of female characters. The usual bad ass female is done stupidly, either making them too male like and not very womanly (like any character that Rodrigez has played ever), or too much slutty assasin and it's hard to believe (like the retarded female villain in Transporter 2, though that movie sucked so much you left the theater with a smile from all the suction). A good female bad ass is the same as a male in the fact that its a well written character with an actress that is willing to get dirty and be able to hold her own in a fight scene.
Linda Hamilton's character could have been seen as too macho in t2, but the character was well written so the audience knows its mainly a facade and over reaction to her too weakling self in the first terminator movie, she's tough but she tries to portray herself as tougher then that so people don't get close. It also didn't hurt that Hamilton went all out in the movie and looked the part, she looked like she could break a dude in half in that movie.
