Hey, now Nintendo's site is saying they've received it, not just FedEx. They know the contents of the box, and that both are covered under warranty, which I'm assuming means that they're working on it.

Anyone who's sent their Wii in for repair: what kind of shipping do they use to return them? I see it says they return through UPS. Is it two day, just like the shipping to them? More? Less? I am wondering if I should abandon all hope of getting my Wii back by Saturday.

Their repair page says they're using upgraded expedited shipping service to make up for the inconvenience, and that the turnaround time is 7 days. So whenever you sent it, it'll be a week later, hopefully.

Nintendo used to make really sturdy hardware, Gameboys that survived fires, dropped SNES, etc. What happened?

Maybe the world ran out of Nintendonium.

And I guess in a selfish way I'm glad to hear that the labored loading on Brawl is normal so I don't have to worry about my system.

I just bought a Wii last Sunday. Should I go back to Best Buy and pay for their product replacement plan? I have 20 days left to decide.

No. Those product replacement plans are a scam. At last resort they will replace your Wii. Also note, if you get it "replaced" at Best Buy, you will lose all of your Virtual Console games when they give you a new console. With the headaches I have seen from people trying to get their monitors "replaced", I would avoid them.

Go online at Nintendo.com and register your Wii for a 3 month extension.

When I first bought my wii the graphics fried, as was somewhat common at launch (got mine the feb after though); from start to finish from calling Nintendo, to them sending me a box to me getting the new wii (with all my Mii's screwed up yay!) the whole process took 11 days.

I imagine they'll push this particular issue faster though, since it's a big sore, whereas my problem didn't coincide with any major game launch.

I have a day-1 launch Wii and I haven't had a single problem. Not even with Brawl or anything else.. And my entertainment center is dusty.

That doesn't necessarily help, but at least it sheds some light on the fact that the Brawl disc isn't inherently wii-breaking.

Ugh. Not entirely. When my 360 RRoD'd on me, I just went in, and swapped it out with a new one and was up and running that day.

Their 2 year REPLACEMENT plan is entirely different from a warranty, which is what you are talking about the "replaced" monitors (which have to be shipped off to repair, despite how much you bitch and whine that they should replace it). So please, don't be an ignorant fuck.

To desert: Yeah don't bother with the 2 year replacement plan on a Wii. They replace it in store, so you'll lose your VC if something happens.

I dunno about Best Buy, but EBgames' extended warranty system for consoles IS a scam. A big fat one.
Also, replacing your 360 at Best Buy, wouldn't that screw up your XBLA liscencing? You'd then need to be logged on Live to use anything you bought if you didn't have Microsoft replace the console themselves.

I swapped out the HDDs in store, and it didn't change a thing. :) I was worried about that at first.

I'm gonna have to mail it in, then - I'm in Philly, which is 2 hours from the Nintendo World store, and I'm not taking a day trip lugging a console around for what would otherwise be a free service.

I'm in a suburb of Philly and my launch console had the fatal 110213 error. I had a brand new Wii at my house within 2 days with a reusable shipping box and label to send back my Wii. I wouldn't be too worried about anything happening as I can't think of any experience I've had with a company that was as good as my experience with Nintendo Customer Service. They're really helpful and accommodating. I'm sure the huge piles of money make it even easier to really take care of their customers without worrying about the bottom line.

Resolution So Far: so when I got home, I blasted a little compressed air into the disc slot and vent on the back, and following the advice of someone (apologies as I forgot who) in this thread who suggested letting my Wii warm up without a disc for a bit. After about 20 minutes (just to be safe), I put in Brawl, and it worked - as with my other discs.

I'm really glad this fixed the problem, though I'm going to be holding on to the shipping label I got from Nintendo just in case it happens again anytime soon.

Good to hear that air-blasting the slot and letting the Wii "warm up" without a disc made it work.

Huh? Angry much. I didn't know you were a life long manager of Best Buy and took it so personally.

All I knew it was the same shit they try to throw at you when you go into the register lane. I had no idea there were different "service plans". Sorry for being an ignorant fuck.

I should check my e-mail more often. Nintendo replied to me over a week ago on the matter of Authorized Repair Centers. They do have more than one facility. I received the following response:

"Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,

In the United states, there are three [authorized repair centers], Minilec in Chatsworth California, United Radio in East syracuse New York, and our main facility in Redmond Washington. In Canada, there is NESA in Scarborough ON, and Nintendo of Canada in Richmond BC. If you are close to one of these, you can take it in yourself for service, otherwise it will need to be mailed in to us..."

with a polite closure at the end.

So for five major metropolitan areas, you may not have to mail your Wii/DS/etc. in and can likely get it repaired in a matter of hours as I did a few days ago. Hope this helps at least a few people out.

And THAT is some info I've been looking for! I don't suppose you happen to have an address to it? I can't find any info on any of Nintendo's sites about it.

    Edit: Nevermind. Found it. http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/repair_can_nw_sp.jsp

Edit 2: Well no fucking wonder it was impossible to find that page on any Nintendo support site! There's no link to the /consumer/repair/ areas (at least I can't find any)! And then I happen to find this! http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/further_info.jsp#area
    # Are there Service Centers in my area?
Nintendo no longer contracts with local service centers, and does all repairs through its factory service program. To learn more about factory repairs through Nintendo, please see the information in the box below.

    # What are the benefits of Factory Service?
    Factory Service (U.S. and Canada)
Nintendo has set up special repair shipping programs with UPS (U.S.) and Purolator (Canada - warranty repairs only) that are available to most residents.
    Each repair includes:

    * Fast Repair Service. Systems usually back to you in 2 to 3 weeks from the time the product is received by Nintendo.
    * Genuine Nintendo parts.
    * 1-year repair guarantee (or the remainder of your warranty, whichever is longer).

The UPS Return Program is not available in Puerto Rico.

Edit 3: Wait, you were told there are service centers a week ago? Man, Nintendo's all kinds of crazy!

Haha, that's great. That's quite a lot of space in between two places.
