I don't think we did anything special. I joined the game first, then at the character select screen, the other guy pressed Start or A or something. He waited a couple of seconds for the host to approve him, then picked his character.
So I'm going to stop lurking for a bit to ask a question, if you don't mind. Can you unlock more pieces for the stage builder? i just used it for a bit, but there seem to be very few pieces.
I believe that there are three stage builder unlocks:
Create 5 stages
Create 15 stages
Brawl on custom stages 10 times
Ah I see. Thanks, it seemed odd that there were so few pieces.
Wait, what? Stickers that boost the same stat don't stack?
This is true.
I'm still a little confused about how some stickers work and I beat SSE already. I mean, who the hell does head damage? Or energy? I guess Lucario? Maybe some of Ness and Lucas?
I would figure the Star Fox trio would do energy damage.
Also Samus
As far as "Head" goes, look at Luigi and Pikachu's side-B. There are others too, I'm sure.
Lucas/Ness and Zelda/Peach(?!) have PK and Magic, respectively, but I think flame/electricity/freezing works for them as well. It's a crazy system.
I will add Washingtonians tonight, and other west-coasters as well.
I have no home-staters available. I've added Veevee and Gino, who I both know are Wisconsinites, but Veevee's Wii is in the shop and Gino hasn't added me back.

Ah, yes. That was a nice game. Were you the Lucas user?
Hey, you know what's weird... I added Kupo's and Fig-D's codes according to the wiki, but I already had them on my list, and they were confirmed already. Did you guys change friend codes or did the wiki get really messed up?
i really want to unlock falco since i think i will like him. i had beat the 100 man brawl with Ike and his amazing up-a but i ended up losing to falco. it made me cry a little. I haven't been able to beat the 100 man since.
i guess going for brawl number will work for now
Honestly the best character to use on 100-man brawl is the electric rodent. Just stand on the left platform and spam his down-b. It's also the easiest way to get two challenges.
Beat 100-man brawl in under 3:30 and under 4:00. I tried it with Ike first and had trouble getting past 5 minutes. I just did it with Pikachu a few minutes ago and beat it in under 3:00 minutes on my first try.
Since this thread moves a mile a minute, I am going to ask a question that has probably been brought up a dozen times. (Sorry.)
What icon appears when you have fully completed an Adventure mode level? Does the flag mean you have found everything? Or the seizure inducing pulsing icon?

I believe the pulsing, rainbow-ey, crown-looking thing is full complete. You get a flag if it's not complete.
As for spamming Pika's down-b... that's the lightning, is it not?
What's a good strategy for countering this in multiplayer? I was in a FFA with a Pikachu yesterday and all he did was spam lighting. The other three of us ignored him and took the fight to wherever he was not standing.

Grabbing before the lightning, most of Lucario's attacks, any other character with long reach, a ranged attack that stuns or launches, a counter special move, thrown items.

As in, when he stands still to call it but before it strikes? Will it not hurt you if you have him grabbed?

Donkey Kong also works extremely well. His down-B not only clears anything that comes close to you, but it won't be stopped by platforms above you, and it's sustained, provided you don't get tired in the process.
I managed to clear it on my third try with that technique. It's the same one I used in Melee, and it's just as effective.

If you want to see video examples of countering it, just pick pikachu in your next online match and spam the move and watch what your opponents come up with. Or fight a computer player.

Does it become more effective if you hit the buttons really fast or something? I tried that for like half an hour last night and kept getting knocked out of it into the air towards the end.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not good enough to survive 100-man ream without some sort of cheese. Questions, though: do the AIs ever attack you from beneath the platform? Does the lightning blast take care of any below you?
Wait, what? Stickers that boost the same stat don't stack?
This is true.
I'm still a little confused about how some stickers work and I beat SSE already. I mean, who the hell does head damage? Or energy? I guess Lucario? Maybe some of Ness and Lucas?
Well, fuck. I wasted a good chunk of punchy/kicky stickers.
Solution: Don't bother using them.
Well, yeah, but you see, I suck at the game and need the help for the higher difficulties.
Agreed on the "fuck the trophy stands" sentiment. I love it when I get one right before the exit to an area and there's nothing left to fight.
I really enjoyed the stickers system. I played through the SSE on Very Hard difficulty, so stickers were my way of balancing the tables. I found the system pretty annoying at times though. There were so many classifications. Head, arm, leg, those are pretty obvious. Plenty of characters use headbutts (Mario and Luigi have particularly beast ones) and their arms and legs, but thing get a bit more complex from there. What is Mario's forward smash? Is it an explosion/arm? Or is that little flame thing a flame attack? What exactly is body/spin? I figure this is a ton of moves like bowser's spin/almost every move that metaknight has. What is a energy attack?
As a general rule, before I used any stickers on any given character I'd look at the stickers that only they/everyone from their franchise could use. It can really help you figure out what moves will used what stickers.
Launch power is beast, although useless against most SSE grunts. Whenever you stop and fight an actual character... I gave Snake the Black Knight sticker (+40 launch power) and he killed someone with his neutral A combo when the guy was at like 20-25%.

It's depends. The taller ones are big enough to be hit by the electric shock that Pikachu emits when it hit's him. The green and yellow ones have to jump but they tend to jump into it to attack you. Also here's a tip in case you didn't notice. The minute they spawn they can be attack. They don't have any invincibility frames,or very little frames except when they are on the spawn platform. So if two are sitting on platforms above you don't wait just attack they tend to jump off the platform in the middle of the lightning.
So I just checked out Smashboards for the first time to read some strategies for the characters I like using, since some friends and I are throwing down tomorrow night.
Jesus, what a bunch of blubbering babies, they remind me of the No Mutants Allowed forums. WHAAAA, BRAWL ISN'T IDENTICAL TO MELEE IN EVERY WAY EXCEPT WITH ONLINE PLAY!

I looked at their "which stages will we allow in tournaments" thread and there were six stages they marked as "fair". Six.

you can bring up a map by pausing
gotta find more doors then
you basically have to fight every character in your party by going through doors with a dark aura around them
Look for a tiny blue dot, representing a door you haven't been thru yet.

1. Pikachu's down-B now goes through Hyrule Temple
2. When the lava rises on old Brinstar characters in the air move up with it similar to old Icicle Mountain.

Is it because of the giant fish?
I assumed he meant the vertical-scrolling jungle stage. If that's the case, that is a policy I may just adopt myself.
