DS Hinge Crack questions

Probably from the weighty top screen and metal outer shell being too much of a load for the small plastic hinge to hold up. Especially considering the force put on it when the top half "springs" up when you open the DS. Those two things seem to be the major contributing factors to this phenomenon. Unless of course they used sub-par plastic in the hinges, which I don't know about. That could also cause it.

I just think it's a matter of the top half of the DS simply being too heavy for the hinges to support.
