Anybody have a formula for making a tri-fire/thundaga/blizzaga materia?
I spent some time messing with the materia fusion, but im at my materia limit, and i just want to get rid of all the useless materia ive been stockpiling. Rather than making crap i dont want, or converting them to SP (which is pointless, since I have like 600K+ already), i just want to make an Ultima materia. I checked out a materia fusion FAQ, but its formulas for tri-fire and tri-thundara both say to combine two tri-fire or two tri-thundaga to make a tri-*. Which isnt helping me. It doesnt even list a tri-blizzaga as a possible materia.
If anybody can pass along how to make either of those, id appreciate it.
If I remember correctly you can't make that class of materia without at least having one to begin with.
So....... does Zack go to the same plastic surgeon as Michael Jackson? I can't believe how feminine his facial features are. I digging this game so far, but I find normal too easy and hard to frustrating. (I don't mind restarting if I die, but I save points can be far between and unskippable cut scenes suck.) I'd like a difficulty level somewhere between.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

I'll say it. Zack's hair looks stupid after he changes it. I liked the original hair style better.

Finally finished the game myself last night (this morning?). Crackerjack ending! I would have finished all of the missions, but I didn't ferret out all of the spies so I missed four of those missions, and I tried Minerva, which well, I tired of rather quickly. Not only it is a ridiculously long fight, it's a rather boring ridiculously long fight.
Phoenix Down/Costly Punch ad infinitum? No thanks Squeenix.
Now did I miss something, or did the love theme (Dear to the Heart? - the second theme played during the credits) only play during the credits? Hearing that theme in the one commercial is definitely what totally sold me on picking up he game!

I preordered this today on Amazon.co.uk (lulz british pounds), along with Riviera PSP.
It should arrive in about a month when it releases. I get a nifty artbook and some sort of slipcover or something. Either way, I'm really looking forward to it, can't wait to play this.
Man, I really thought that I could take those guys. I mean I already killed like 1,800 of them. But with the choppers and the DMW broken I couldn't last for long...
I'm going to do another play through and try to finish all the missions. Is there any secret boss or anything like that that I should keep an open eye for?
I am stuck on this huge spider/scorpion monster that kicks my ass really bad.
He's really cheap, basically tail lazers me and then hits me as I'm getting up, killing before I can cure.
I've spent ten minutes hitting him with Thundara Blade and my maxed out Thunder, and he still gets me.
WTF.
Oh man.
I hope this doesn't suck like Dirge of Cerberus.
FF7 really isn't one of those games you can make a sequel to - it was too good, and the story had closure. But a prequel? I guess I'll have to find out.

You can dodge all of that or if you can't seem to dodge it just block instead.

What do you mean "hope"? It's been pretty universally praised, at least by genre fans.
Meh, I think Crisis Core, though pretty decent on its own, did not do FFVII enough justice. They turned the plot into an angsty J-Pop video for the most part. It's only fair to "praise" it as a stand-alone title, but as a prequel to the original, it was kind of lacking. But I still maintain that the ending (or is it the beginning?) was worth playing for. So hella worth it.

Bwuh? I'm a HUGE FF7 fan, and thought it did a great job tying everything up.

Get in close to it's back so you could critical it then you need to find the rhythm of hitting it a couple of times then blocking when it does the EM blast. It becomes real easy.

Oh no doubt, and I'll agree with you there. But they also added a lot of shitty stuff that it could have done without: Genesis, DMW, J-Pop... did I mention Genesis?

I thought the DMW was great. I thought Genesis was a good character to have, just his dialogue was terrible.

Yeah Genesis's ramblings and his obsession with Loveless got tiresome. Much of the dialogue is retarded emo crap but its what you expect in a JRPG. At least Zack was a great character which is the most important part. (Though I wish he looked less like a post op transexual.) And yeah the ending was pretty great.

I was mostly referring to Genesis with the Emo stuff, and the ending I thought was terrific but..
I thought Zack's final speech was a bit much, sometimes less is more, ya know. Should have just been his last line and hand over the sword. It still chocked me up though.

Yeah, it kinda dragged on almost to the point where you're thinking: "Okay, just like... die already so I can weep softly into my pillow."
And Genesis = Gackt. Unless you're a 14 year old Japanese schoolgirl, you're gonna get turned off by his pretty-boy antics. "Ooh, look at me, I'm so deep and conflicted and I love POOOOEEETRYYYY!"
STFU Gackt. Get geostigma and die.

Okay, I will give you the fact that Genesis' Loveless quotes end up being really monotonous but, if you play to the end: you see that Loveless really does have some weight. The whole closing scene with the Goddess and The Life Stream writing the final lines. Genesis was still alive, WTF? Also, the most depressing ending I have ever been forced to endure. That is not fair to be able to level wave after wave of soliders with Quake and have to still Die. Fuck that. I was pissed. Now I haven't touched FFVII since I finished it when it came out. So how does Could lose his memory? Another question, why can't we get at least a DL for PSN of FFVII. I want to play this game again without paying 70-80 USD to do so.
I didn't think he was that bad. He was basically Kujaroth, though not quite as cool as either.
Also, regarding his future role in the Compilation, I think....
That it isn't the same Genesis we saw in CC. I theorize that Nero the Sable is inhabiting Genesis' body, evidiced by how he was carrying away Weiss and calling him "brother".
So close to being one of the best endings to a game ever.
I knew Zack was going to die an the futility of it all was amazing. The final scenes were actually pretty moving right up until the J-pop started. The j pop and trying to liven things up/soften the ending ruined it for me. Zack dies, it isnt supposed to be happy.

It's not a happy song though. I enjoyed the song anyways. It's much better than them trying to create an engrish rendition for the North American/European version.
Zack seemed so... okay in the end. It's supposed to be a tragedy! A tale of freedom and almost getting what you want... after four years .
Still good, but the music there, and the whole 'I want those wings!" thing just turned me off a bit. I wanted to get my ass kicked by the manly emotion of it all.
So this game was supposed to be really easy, right? Because I went into the final boss at level 37, and with none of this -aga or other crazy mateia I'm hearing about, and still absolutley raped it. It probably helped that I was doing an Angeal limit every 30 seconds, thanks to a hastily matered rush materia, but still.
Didn't even use magic against it. Just waited for the thing to drop and beat on it. Over in no time.
Guess I should probably try hard, huh?
I did love the hd remake of the VII openeing after the credits. Superb, although quite how Cloud gets to that point is less clear than ever.
He seemed pretty... not crazy when Zack passed on the sword.
Also, how many shops were there supposed to be in the game? I think I got three by the end.
I gotta say I'm not seeing where any of the love is for it. It's a mix of poor combat system and gag inducing fanservice. I expected some, but it's just getting to be too much at points.
I'll finish it and let it wrap up the loose ends of the story I guess, but overall I was not impressed except by some of the CG for the summons.

Some of the boss themes are good stuff and up with the best FF music.
