There were blasters that were reskinned crossbows and Speeder Bikes that were Horses. They Neighed and everything. Don't even ask about the Jedi or Lightsabers.

Lightsabers were swords that had been retextured and had poorly captured sound bites added. The Jedi themsleves had been given stupidly high stats, so they ran accross the battlefield as fast as a horse, waving their red sticks about. No one had bothered to add real robes, so theywere wearing the crappy peseant robes from ingame. Some carried shields.

The one thing that was good about that mod was the fact that you could make real money on the tournaments in town, and they had this massive fort thing with ramps and shit for the big team fights. That was awesome.
However, the neighing speeders really killed it for me.

When I first tried it back in... 2005 or so, I thought it was the most horrible thing ever. The game didn't even try to teach you how to play, there were only two sides to join, and there was no way to make money for the first ten levels or so. You ended up hunting down the smallest possible parties of River Pirates, trying to save up for your first real sword. A
Marnid would only join your party if you found him some obscure and horribly crappy armour to wear and Borcha had to be bribed out of jail. Oh, and there were these Dark Knights and Dark Hunters who were the strongest enemies in the game, they had all-black armour, and were next to impossible to get into your army, since the only way to recruit them was to wait for them to be captured by an enemy army, and then kill that army to take their prisoners into your party.
Oh lord I remember that. Trying to make sure that you only had Swadian troops, and that you upgraded them all as a block so that you wouldn't have those one or two leftover fuckers from the wrong group in your party.
Oh and does anyone else listen to this while they play?
Khergit if you have a Mongolian horseman fetish, but their territory is right on the border of nowhere. Swardians eventually upgrade to full-plate wearing knights and are in the middle of everything. Vaegirs are comparable to Swardians, but have worse equipment. Havent messed with Rhodoks much, but they look like ranged specialists.

I am loving my Mongoloids.
I just got granted a fief, and with a little help from me the town of Uslum defended against a Vaegir attack of 60+ men.
Of course to defend them I had the farmers form a line and march into the enemy archers, providing a critical distraction while my cavalry ran around the other side of the town and took them in the flank. Those farmers kept the archers really busy, what with their dying and all.
Well, I successfully wrested Vincloud Castle from the Vaegirs. I parked my little army outside for a month, making daily trips down to Azgad village and looting food for my troops so they dont starve too.
When I gained control of the castle, I was also given Azgad, which I did not expect.
My current relationship with the town? -100.

You should be able to loot and burn your own villages to clear them out, and then take go on slaving runs to attack the citizens of other countries and transplant them onto your own lands to work the fields and plantations. I think this is a very important simulation aspect not yet modeled in a video game.
Also, I wish the overworld map was just a tiny bit more strategic/interactive. Whenever I ride through the little mountain pass between Tulga and Curaw, I dream about how cool it would be if the AI could recognize it as a choking point and set up troops along the border to protect them. You could gather up your own lords as part of an army and wage war across the pass, breaking through into enemy territory and attacking their vilages... god... it's all so real in my head.
All towns should have quests. Either go to the lords hall and ask him for a job, or wander around the marketplace until you find the guildmaster, then ask him for a job. Also, River Pirates should be easy.

All the roving bands can kick my ass and no towns have any quests to do.
Ask lords in the area for quests. Eventually you'll be given a quest like "Collect a debt for lord X" or "Collect these taxed from town Y". Accept the quest, and go and collect the debt.
Then keep the money and buy yourself some good equipment and a group of Hired Blades. Then go and join one of the other factions. You'll fail the 'collect' money quest automatically, but it doesn't matter since you're now out to kill the now-unfriendly factions anyway.
Kind of... push them towards the town you're looking for.
Really don't even bother with them, the money isn't worth the trouble.
The best ways of making money in the very beginning is the exploit I mentioned above. If that isn't working out for you, just deliver notes and kill outlaws for the various nobles in your faction until they're willing to let you join (talk to the king and ask to become a vassal). Then you can start raiding enemy villages and caravans, and selling off the goods to friendly towns. They're easy pickings and you can make a couple hundred to a thousand gold with every raid.
Get frustrated, attempt to drive them into the sea, fail, figure out that they run away from you, use this piece of information to drive them to where they need to go, swear never to do another cow mission ever again.

seems to be pretty grandiose
