Has anyone ever tried rocking a crossbow build? Is there any point in using them instead of a bow?
Not that I can tell. They do more damage, but they take forever to reload and you can't use any of the better ones on horseback. Zero mobility + extremely low rate of fire does not seem like a winning combination. Oh actually there is another advantage, they're perfectly accurate at any range. They're pretty well made just to complement a sword/shield since they take no skill points to get better with, only weapon points.
I'm going to have to fire this up again and finish wiping those damn khergit off the face of caldaria with my army of swadian knights. Too bad somebody stole my position of marshall from me, need those giant armies to take their cities.

MAN I SURE DO LOVE IT WHEN I ENTER A TOURNAMENT, BET ALL MY MONEY ON ME, AND AM ABOUT TO EASILY WIN AND MAKE SOMEWHERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF 3000 DENARS WHEN, AND THIS IS THE GOOD PART, THE GAME DECIDES TO GIVE ME A BOW. AGAINST A GUY WITH A SWORD.
MY BOW SKILL IS 36.

i am going to fucking WRECK the next tournament. just... take out all my anger on those poor bastids.
I remember on my first character hating when I ended up with the bow, basically meant I was fucked. On my second character I actually put points towards it though, now I just laugh as I kill people with a bow.
What's that, you have a shield? Oh I'll just wait till you lower it then shoot you in the face.

OH. MY. GOD.
HEADSHOT HEAVY THROWING AXE FROM LIKE FIFTY YARDS, FUCKING DROPPED THIS BITCH CARAVAN MASTER LIKE A HOT ROCK.
Nothing says Age of Chivalry like putting a lance through someone's face because somebody else's broad asked you to.
woah what? that sounds awesome.
does that happen later?
also do my companions ever stop being chumps? like... a few of them are total badasses, like Firenze and Niza and Bunduk, but then you got yer Kelthi... and she's just awful.

All the lords now have ladies who hang around their castle while they're gone. If you've got a high enough renown (or possibly faction reputation, I'm not sure) you can ask them if there's anything you can do to gain their favor. I've only done it once so far, and she told me that one of the other Swadian lords had been spreading rumors about her. So I tracked him down and challenged him to a trial at arms. I suppose they probably give other quests as well.
As for your companions, I mostly just use them for party skills. I've got the surgeon, the tracker, and the merchant, so I don't have to worry about putting points into any of those skill groups. And I've got Rolf, of course, because Rolf is still a killing machine. I mostly just handle the leadership, persuasion, prisoner management, and skullcracking at this point.

Rolf is a fucking machine made of flesh and bone and unrestrained rage at all he sees. Rolf is a dervish of whirling blades and widowed wives, of children who are nevermore to hear their father's voice.
Where does Rolf hang out?

Randomly spawns in a tavern at the beginning of the game. From what I can tell, once they spawn they don't move around much. So you'll want to do a grand tour before you start pissing off other factions so you can pick up the companions you want.
Every 2 points in tactics, you gain an additional troop and your opponent loses a troop.
Since you've increased the cap beyond the normal games maximum it probably isn't having that much of an affect, 4 tactics mean they lost 2 and you gained two, not a big deal with 200 total. Your kicking their ass has more to do with 50 swadian knights being able to kick the shit out of pretty much anything.
edit: then again their forums seem to have conflicting information. A bunch of people said the above, while another said:
"2 points in tactics nets you an increase of 1 in your battle advantage.
1 point in battle advantage nets you an extra 50% of the ratio of your troops/enemy troops.
e.g.
I have 4 points in tactics, I have 150 men.
Enemy has 0 in Tactics, he has 300 men.
Because I have tactics, Battle Advantage = 0.
Because Battle Advantage = 0, we both spawn with the same amount of men. "

No, there are differences. They're just really minor. I bet you can build castle upgrades in this version though, I can't wait to get to that point.
I just wish you could decapitate dudes.

Yeah... I have to say, I'm glad they finally got the game publishes, but it's still nowhere near a polished, retail release.
"I hear you been talking low on my lady, chief."
"She's a whore. Wanna fight about it?"
"Bitch, please."
Nothing says Age of Chivalry like putting a lance through someone's face because somebody else's broad asked you to.
needs to run smoother and needs wayyy more blood
dismemberments especially
it would take a jedi knight-style jump up in fun and badassity

Also give Alayen a lance and he'll kick the shit out of Rolf any day, no wasted points into that tactics garbarge
PSN: Robo_Wizard1
when your troops are low in number on the feild? tactics
Raise your tactics and you can have way more of your dudes on the feild no matter the enemy size
Yeah but I ain't wasting those points on somebody who's supposed to be a killing machine.
Also you need to pump a fair bit into tactics to make a difference, and it doesn't mean much when you're massively outnumbered
PSN: Robo_Wizard1
At 4 tactics with my rolf, seiging a city with 70 troops, with a cap of 200 I beleive, I fielded 63
51 of those swadian knights
I destroyed the enemy at their gates, dumb bastards sallied out
