Last thing I want to have to do is mute members on my own team during a tournament, even though this isn't a serious thing, it really mucks around with teamwork when all you can hear is frigging "Dancing Queen".
Guess I should mention that my Steam display name is Stasis, but the account name is Terenn, since it seems like it's easier to find people by account name.
I'm pro-crit, just not in a competitive environment
It makes sense to turn it off so teams focus more on strategy and skill besides getting a lucky break
Without crits the weapon balancing changes considerably.
Lots of weapons lose a lot of their power. If the revolver has no chance of a crit it essentially means that the spy is completely fucked if he gets caught out, the rocket launcher is weaker and melee weapons are pretty useless etc.
I'm not saying its necessarily better or fairer, but having crits off changes the game significantly from what we play every night.
I'm pro-crit because a lone Medic would be pretty useless without them.
Don't think the medic should be in combat at all. If he's alone, run.

They all do the same damage with or without crits. The game was balanced to the regular weapon damages, not crit damage. Thus the spy revolver still does a lot of damage up close, the rocket launcher kills, and melee weapons are a last resort only
Only a slight aspect of the game changes. You don't rush the point on the PA servers with a crit streak planned. You make a plan, and if a crit happens, you're plan accelerates.

Sometimes you just can't run. Besides, I've bonesawed an unsuspecting Heavy more than once.
Medics aren't relegated purely to healing, and if you don't know how and when to use your bonesaw and needlegun then you aren't using the class as well as you could be. I'm not going to stick purely to the hosepipe, sometimes the best thing to do is break out the saw.

In a competitive match, there's really no situation where the second fastest class in the game can't just run. Even an attempt at getting by is worth it if a 45% charged medic makes it out. If not, then respawn. I'd be pretty annoyed with the team medic if he spent his time trying to needle dudes beyond enemy lines instead of trying to get out and actually helping the team.
medics should never be left unguarded. ever. ever.
medics should never be left unguarded. ever. ever.
I'll be sure to remind my team-mates of that the next time they DIE. Besides which there's always travelling from point A to point B where you can get intercepted on the way. And sometimes you're the last person left that can cap that point or prevent that point cap.
Seriously, why is it so hard to understand that the Medic has weapons, and those weapons are useful?
I think my only e-peen-level class is medic, though I demo and pyro decently with enough coordination. The only classes I would still classify as teh suck for me are spy and, outside Badlands, scout.
Also, quick correction: it's Rev. Dr. Galactus. You gotta study in (and then eat) the Vatican to write the Apologia Terra Gastronomica.

I could argue specific cases that favor my argument all day, but lets leave it at "the medic is more valuable healing than needling"

I'd be pretty annoyed with the Team medic if he tried to outrun a scout instead of trying to take him down. I've had far more success doing the latter than the former, I can tell you right now.
I'm not saying that the Medic should be focussing on kills, but to say they should avoid all combat is crazy. This isn't always possible and their weapons are actually really effective if you know how and when to use them. They have weapons for a reason.
Its going to be funny if we get this whole thing all geared and ready to go and goldrush comes out, along with the new medic pac. Im going to laugh really hard.

Why? Sounds like an ideal opportunity to put the Medic updates through their paces.

True, but I think everyone is just going to want to try out the new map and see what the new medic stuff is all about.
Posts
Useful only as 1. pyro 2. medic
i'll give it a try
Your best is spy (but that prob because i notice people more as spy - when I get fucking backstabed and get piss off all to hell and back, bastards)
But it might help team captains decide
because they don't really want to accidentally choose a team of 9 people only good at demo
Well uh, I prefer Medic or Engineer. I'm above average as Pyro and Sniper.

I'd be down for playing some pyro and soldier.
Anyway, I'm a sniper/spy/soldier/demo/heavy/pyro in that order. I'm a pretty good all rounder really.
On piping music, maybe just limit it to between rounds? I really enjoy that stuff.
The rest in order: Pyro/Medic/Soldier/Heavy/Spy/Sniper/Engineer/Demoman
I have a mic and I use it. Maybe a little too much.
demo/pyro/sniper/engineer in that order, though demo/pyro and sniper/engi get swapped depending on the map and night.
personally i'm pro jon's if that's a possibility, i get some bad fps problems on job's. and crits are fine by me.

i'm very versatile
if anybody wants to go 1v1 w/ me just bring your construction vehicle of choice to downtown seattle. i get good ping there.
most of all, most of all
someone said true love was dead
but i'm bound to fall
bound to fall for you
oh what can i do
It makes sense to turn it off so teams focus more on strategy and skill besides getting a lucky break
Yeah, I agree.
I also think we just need to choose one and go with it. I don't think anyone is going to make a big fuss eather way. (thats just me?)
