Good Sprite based Flight sims?

This is a long story about how I arrived at this query and since I was out of the country for most of the 8 and 16 bit golden years and quite poor at the time, I wanted to know if there were any good flight sim games released using sprites, like something along the lines of the first few wing commanders. Anything good on gameboys or the DS

THIS IS NOT A ROM THING AND ANYONE MENTIONING SUCH A FORBIDDEN THING WILL BE MET WITH SCORN!

Wing Commander Prophecy was released on the GBA and met with some good reviews. It's 3d though, but just the Wing Commander nostalgia is enough to overlook that little flaw if you can find it.

Strike Commander was pretty awesome - AFAIK its PC only though.

Secret Weapons of the Muthafuckin' Luftwaffe.

Seriously, Lucasarts, Nazi rocket-planes, gunner and bombardier positions in a B-17, what more could you want in life (from a sprite-based flight sim)?

Also, off the top of my head:

Red Baron (had a cool faux vintage map of the trenches in the box)
    Warbirds (Atari Lynx)
