Seeing as how the vocals are all talky parts (an instant no-buy in my book, unless the other parts are good), the drums sound even more impossible than Blackened, and the guitar is smoking hard (and not in the good Working Man way), I don't think I'm touching this week's pack.
I would say the order is, in terms of expert drum difficulty,
DOA - Most fun song on drums in the Thrash Pack, imo. Changes up quite a bit, and has a rhythm other than BASS SNARE BASS SNARE BASS SNARE etc.
Thrasher - Pretty boring. Gets harder near the end, but for the first 3/4 of the song its just R+Y, Bass, R+Y, Bass, alternating ad infinitum.
Blackened - Yeah, nearly impossible fast part, but doesn't go on for that long, majority of the song is doable.
Blinded By Fear - The majority of the song is ridiculous, it's less complex with the bass pedal than blackened, but much, much faster.
Those are only counting the thrash songs, mind you. I don't think Thrasher and DOA are in the top 4 hardest drum songs.
Am I alone in buying only parts of packs? I like the Dead a lot, but I didn't want random setlists to be overpowered by having a 500:1* ratio of Grateful Dead to other bands.
I hope I don't have to restart all my tours on easy, I feel like I might be rusty

I'm looking at all the DLC for this game and am so looking forward to getting my PS3 in June. GH3 on the Wii doesn't even hold a candle to Rock Band.
Hopefully by June they'll have a Zamfir pack out for download.

Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
Passed on this week's offerings. Any small desire I might have had has been removed by the difficulty.
Picked up Ten Speed and Working Man instead.
How is Ten Speed?? I've been thinking about picking it up, but I didn't like the cover vocalist that sang it.
Ten Speed expert guitar isn't bad based on my one play. About average difficulty (I came within a hair of four-starring it on a sight read, about normal for me). Haven't done drums/vocals yet, will probably do a full band in a couple of days.
(And Working Man...yeah. I got to that second solo just fine but it didn't take long for me to fail out once I hit there).
I hope I don't have to restart all my tours on easy, I feel like I might be rusty
I got mine back last week, and I was beating expert drum songs immediately. Oh, and I could only play hard before I got it. I've also gotten farther on GG&HT than ever each time I've played it since it came back.
The absence made me better?

Dead on Arrival and Detroit Rock City (EXPERT) done on drums, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
out of the next tier i already beat Enter Sandman (i can five star it no problem, one of my favorite songs to play) but then everyone went to bed and i couldn't drum anymore. Not really sure how quickly i'll move through the final 9 songs though.

Ten Speed vocals are fun after a few run throughs so you know how the song goes. I can't nail the last phrase though, where he screams OF GODS BLOOD AND BURIAL! Drums is mediocre, it has a few tricky parts but if you're a good drummer on Hard, you should be able to do it on Expert.
I'll give my Expert Drum tour another go this weekend. Stupid Dead on Arrival is such a roadblock.
the more i listen to it, the more i think yes "Club Foot" by Kasabian would be fun.
I like Kasabian. I could see Empire, Club Foot and Sun, Rise, Light, Flies (since it's overplayed in commercials) in a pack. Although the fact that they overdub a lot in recordings and sound nothing like their albums live is a downer.
Can I just re-iterate how much I love Rock Band in this thread?
When I had the game sitting in my office (after making a run to Gamestop as they opened on the day of release), I realized that I hadn't been so hyped about a video game since Super Mario Bros. 3. After playing it all through the end of the week and then onward through the weekend, I felt that (like Super Mario 3) this game really delivered. And it continues to deliver, and deliver (every week!), and deliver.
I got the Thrash pack, and I'm pretty indifferent to it, but I'm ex-fucking-cited about what other songs we may get over the next year. It's been out for 'bout 4 months now, and there're many more songs available for DLC than what came on the disc. 4 more months from now, I'll probably be up to my eyeballs in Rock Band content.
When I got my 360, I always wondered what I'd be doing with its hard drive. Now I know.
I hope I don't have to restart all my tours on easy, I feel like I might be rusty

This happens so often it's practically scientific law at this point. Take a break, days, weeks, months, whatever and you're almost always better when you start back up than when you quit. Stamina may be an issue, but once that's built back up you're golden. Been true for me since GH1.

I agree with that it's some sort of phenomenon with not just music rhythm games but I think this genre lends itself very well to being able to accurately gauge your progress. On the other hand, games like Halo or a platformer, it's difficult to say "Well, I did 5% or 25% better than a few days ago." But we all know what it's like to suddenly have a great day where head shots are cake.
I've experienced this also since GH1, but I don't think stamina is the issue, moreso I think a renewed clarity of mind after a much-needed break: your brain can only sustain so much in the way of streaming notes before that's all you see when you close your eyes. It's almost akin to writer's block when you hit that wall. And then when you easily overcome it, it is comparable to being "in the zone" that athlete's experience.
On a total side note: scratched discs are a total bitch. Mine has a weird looking mark on it that almost looks like a laser burn. You really don't know what you've got until it's "Unplayable." Sometimes the 360 will tease and load up the disc only to say "Please insert this disc into an XBOX 360" in 30 different languages. My friends, take good care of your game discs and handle with care. Have you hugged your Rock Band today?

To tell the truth, I actually do feel like I may be better when it gets back. I took some time to look through some of azurite's Grateful Dead videos, and I feel strangely confident about my own ability.
Man, just reading this thread from my bed this morning inspired me to get up and start 5-starring and gold starring things on expert. This game never stops being fun, ever.
The downside was getting 5-stars on Queen Bitch, only to have my power go out right before the song ended and saved. I don't even care that I have to play it again though - if she says she cant do it, she cant DO IT! She dont make false claims!

I'm about 200k off from being in the top 50 for career Expert Vocals. It took me like an hour to gold star Dead On Arrival, Suffragette City, and Welcome Home. DOA sucked because I kept getting 100% on it and didn't get gold stars on it. Turns out there's only one specific overdrive path to take to get a gold star (which half dings on the second last phrase). Suffregette City sucks because you need to activate overdrive immediately on a certain section early in the song and I had to switch from my Karaoke Revolution USB Xbox mic to my Rock Band heavy duty mic and turn up sensitivity to max JUST to activate overdrive because it wouldn't activate on my loud screaming on the freestyle section.

Unfortunately I'm on my way down rather than up... I managed to get all 3 of my careers into the top 100 for a while but drums has been bumped down and I don't know if I can get it back up :-( Same with guitar, I think it's about as high as it's going to get so it's only down from there. Maybe I'll have to try vocals again and see if I can't gain some ground on that, lol.
I am curious: I RMAed my Strat. I got notification from EA on Monday regarding the UPS tracking number that the shipment was going to use. However, for the last 2 days, the UPS page has just showed "Billing Information Received". Anyone have the same experience? I'm just wondering how much I shuold get my hopes up that my guitar will be waiting on my door step when I get home from work today.
p.s. it was shipped 2nd day air, so in theory if it shipped Monday it should be here today.
Guys I sent my guitar in like a month ago and haven't heard anything from EA
I'm scared, what do I do?
Yeah same here, I sent mine in over 3 weeks ago and nothing... I updated my ticket to ask wtf's going on but they haven't answered. Maybe I'll have to find the phone # and give them a call also.
Billing Information Recieved means that they printed out a label and slapped it on a box but it hasn't been picked up by UPS yet.
My bass pedal was like this for a week before it changed to In Transit. I wouldn't worry about it if you went the slow way. However, like I said before, my limit for slow deliveries is 2 weeks or I start to call.

Is that PS3 or 360? If it's 360, then that's damn impressive. There are so many people that are ridiculously good at guitar now that top 100 is very hard.
If its PS3, it's still impressive, though much less so.
I read on ScoreHero and on other blogs about how a couple of people have been sending incorrect data from their PS3 to the Rock Band database and skewing their point totals. Whether it is intentional or not, it remains to be fixed last I heard.

PS3 :0)
If I was on the 360, I'd be approx:
Drums: 180th
Guitar: 570th
Vocals: 140th
I think Guitar is so much more competitive on 360 because of the GH player base already on 360... because my guitar score is alot farther off than the other two scores cross-platform. I have been trying to catch my drum/guitar rank up to my vocal rank but I'm at a point where I'd have to play songs over and over and over again to squeeze out the last few points from each, and I hate doing that. I've only done each song on vocals once, so I think it's time to revisit the vocals career and see where I can go with that.
EDIT: Arikado can you paste the link about PS3 scores being bugged? Searching scorehero is useless unless you know exactly what you want because every thread has the words you search for in it somewhere, hehe.
Guitar is much more competative on the 360 because people can use any guitar controller to play Rock Band. Or at least that is what I assume one of the reasons for it.
