So my band - Large Hassy - has been dwelling in the top 200 since launch (band by fans). Its just 2 of us, and I think it's amazing how we've become "fans" of the great bands above and below us when we check the leaderboards. I wish the Rock Band boards wern't so chaotic so it'd be easier to say hi to them.
We're a little suprised at the drop that "The Legitamate Buisnessmen" have taken. They used to always be top 10.
And we honestly got a little emotional last week. We checked the boards and saw we passed "YOURE GETTING SLACKS!!!!!!". They were always our favorite band, so passing them was pretty bittersweet.
I just wish we had an easier way to see who was in what bands, because I'd love to message some of these guys, and have a night where we form some sort of supergroup.

Man, getting my Score Duel achievements was like pulling teeth. Waah I'm not winning *Quit*. Don't even want to screw with Tug of War for awhile.
I have the PS3 version, so I'm not compelled to duel because of achievements. However, for about a week, I perfected the art of playing slightly worse than my opponent for 98% of the song and then coming back and winning in like the last 10 notes. And then, when you get bored after a few songs, just totally smoke the guy from the start of the song to let him know that you were fucking with him the whole time. They usually drop out before the song is a quarter of the way over.
I have the Score Duel 5-in-a-row. And will eventually have the 20 just from playing.
Tug of War though? That's going to be damn near impossible, because Tug of War is so broken. Rock Band 2 needs a better mode next time, or re-work it, because there's quite a few songs where the notes you get make it impossible to come back, even if you miss one note and they're missing a lot.
That and one time it gave me the Death of the Cool song 4 times in a row and I suck at that one
I got my strat back in like December and kinda forgot to RMA (also didn't want to because of what I have heard about RMAing it). So I just kept it and now I was thinking about fixing it myself.
This looks pretty good to me and I was about to buy it, however, I tried to play the strat and some weird stuff started to happen. I couldn't use the Dpad on it to move and the strummer was completely jammed. I don't have the exact tools to open it up but considering its the first type of start (metal leafs) I think one might be stuck to it giving it continuous input. What is everyone's opinion on this indie fix for the strat? Heard anything good about it? Bad? Thank you ^_^.
If you have the patience, you might as well RMA it. Fixing it yourself, unless you know what you're doing, will probably end up with a broken piece of equipment.
This thrash pack is awesome. I don't care much about the music but watching my entire band fail over and over after we thought we were hot shit is purifying.
I can help anyone out who wants the five wins in a row achievement. I figured out that pretty much no one plays bass, so we can just do that in a private chat and get it done. Let me know ahead of time since it's always easier to do at night.
Cleared my chache of DLC songs that I hadn't yet gotten around to beating on medium drums (my ritual for each song) last night. Feeling the need to start putting a lot more effort into my Hard drum career and hopefully, some day, expert. Still need new sticks though. Then I've got expert vocals to finish (couple tiers left) and expert guitar (last 5% of GGHT). I think our massive bout with cold weather might be over, which means the man/rock band cave is now fully playable. Sweet.
The downloading system for RB DLC has always seemed a bit less than user friendly. Not searchable, can't preview, etc. This looks to be a fantastic addition.
Also, RB has hit six million song downloads. Six million!

Holy shit, yes. This needs to be inline'd, but there's even more info that's not in the Joystiq writeup. Pics from Joystiq and Destructoid, text from RB forums:[/url]
In this latest software update, you’ll find:
* (New!) Music Store: Rock Band now has a new feature that lets you preview and purchase songs from within the game! Accessible from the main menu, the Music Store lets you view, purchase and sort all available music based on various categories, view album art, listen to song previews, and check out extended information about the song like difficulty for each instrument.
* Revised Fan Caps: To allow Easy, Medium, and Hard players to progress further in the Band World Tour, we’ve increased the number of fans that you can earn before hitting the cap. Easy players can now travel across the Atlantic, Medium players have a wider range of venues they can play at, and Hard players on the Xbox 360 are now able to unlock the “One Million Fans” achievement.
* More diverse songs in Band World Tour: If you’ve ever cursed about having to play “Say it Ain’t So” or a Metallica track multiple times in the same hour, then you’ll be glad to know that we’ve tracked down and fixed the issues that triggered these very repetitive moments in Band World Tour.
* Improved phoneme recognition: We’ve improved the detection and scoring for phoneme recognition. If you had trouble on songs like “Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld” or “Blitzkrieg Bop”, you should have an easier time beating these songs now.
* Microphone Latency on PlayStation 3 improved: Our awesome team of audio programmers has found some optimizations that reduce microphone latency on the PlayStation 3 in certain situations.
* Xbox 360 Band Logos are now visible through Xbox LIVE: An issue with parental controls stopped band logos from being visible over Xbox LIVE. With this update, you can now view all of the awesome band logos that people around the world have created!
* Faster loading of downloadable content: Not only is the loading speed faster, but this information is now cached so that this loading time is a “once only” wait rather than something that happens every time you turn on the game.
Note that HMXSean says the update isn't available quite yet, but should be pretty soon.
Also, obviously, no online BWT patch mentioned. But that boat has sailed for me; I'm stoked about the music store, although this means I'll be spending even more money. I don't know whether to post or
EDIT: And the increased fan caps will make everybody happy. I had quickly hit the limit with my Expert guitar/Easy drum duo act with my wife, and we ended up making a new act with Expert guitar/Medium bass since she's better at guitar.
And seeing the album art really, really makes me pine for full album downloads.
EDIT2: OH GOD, HARMONIX, WHY DO YOU TEASE ME?!?!?!
From that second pic I see it shows Purchased next to Rockaway Beach. I wonder if this setup will solve the issue of showing a pack as Purchased but the individual songs as not in the Marketplace. Basically what I mean is, I wonder if I purchased say the Metallica songs in the Pack, whether it'll show Purchased next to Blackened, Ride the Lightning, and ...And Justice For All. Not a big deal, but might help with some confusion.
Also, the update being this week sounds good to me.
Wow, that Music Store and the Update sounds kick ass. Now we just need to see the new DLC announcement and I'll be a happy Rock Bander *or even more happy*.
EDIT2: OH GOD, HARMONIX, WHY DO YOU TEASE ME?!?!?!
I hereby reiterate my request... nay, my demand for Who's Next.
And all of those updates get two snaps up in a circle. I've only ever attempted vocals on two songs (Timmy and Sabotage, both on easy) so with better talky-part recognition I might be willing to try something like Epic now.
Unfortunately the only thing on that list that I'm looking forward to is the DLC store (and maybe the PS3 mic lag fix, if it's actually fixed). The DLC store does look freakin sweet though! More importantly, though, the little note under the feature list on the RB forums has renewed my hope that they might be planning on releasing patches for PS3 friend invites and PS3 voice chat... here's hoping!
I'd imagine it's gonna drop today, since Friday is a holiday, so yet another reason I'm looking forward to getting home!
You know, I was wondering how they would make buying albums easy on LIVE. I mean, the damn info tag would be enormous. I sort of had something in my head about how they would patch something in to make it easier because having a 10+ song album as a pack along with all the single purchases from it would be a pain in the ass.
This could very well be the first step for those albums being announced.

It makes a lot of sense. The whole Live Marketplace has just gotten more and more unwieldy, and this should make it a ton easier to buy older songs, so as people pick up the game now they won't have to spend 30 minutes finding songs from before last week. And dropping 10 songs in a row would lead to scrolling hell. I've heard the PSN is organized much more cleanly, but even then the sheer fact of not having to back out of the game means a lot of people will hear about new songs.
A number of more recent 360 games give you some kind of notification on the main screen when new DLC is available (like GH3 and Mass Effect). Rock Band definitely needs this, especially since there's new stuff every week. I've seen a few Live blade ads for new RB track-packs and even upcoming ones (I saw a "Coming soon: Grateful Dead pack" ad the week before it released), and it needs even more exposure.
I see the New DLC annoucements on LIVE sometimes. At least on the Marketplace pane. But it is competing with a few other games for that space so it is random.
That is SHIT HOT! Loving the fan-cap increase too, my solo act of hard vocs and hard guitar might actually amount to something now! I will be perfectly happy w/ a million fans. And I definately agree that this looks like step 1 to getting those albums out there. This in-game store is going to greatly increase DLC presentation and I can definately see how they wanted to have that in before getting to the rest of their big DLC plans.
Guess that answers my question from the last couple weeks about what the hell HMX has been doing. Kicking ass is the answer, in case anyone missed it.
Edit: How funny would it be if they ninja patched the ps3 Les Paul compatability bit with this thing while they were at it?
Edit2: It got glossed over w/ this content announcement but, SIX FUCKING MILLION DOWNLOADS?!?! Weren't they at 3 million just like a month ago? Holy shit! Was it individual instrument sales that drove that up maybe? This blows my mind...

I am pretty sure the ads are somewhat targeted depending on what games you have played/are playing.
I'm sure the feeling will go away with subsequent release weeks, but I kinda sorta feel cheated here. I mean, I've bot a LOT of DLC using the crappy old-ways, now the DLC slackers get rewarded by being granted this slick new system to correct their folly.
Edit: I'm not even going to change it, but did I actually just spell 'bought' as 'bot'?!?! Wow...I'm as shocked as you are.

Well, we thought you and your symbiotic beard were still moving to St. Louis.

i need my new bass pedal stat.

somehow Casey Jones is a lot harder than it looks
and Franklin's Tower is a fucking war of attrition
On what instrument? I doubt it's guitar since I gold starred it on the first go.
Have you played Truckin' yet? The only adequate term to describe it is maddening.

According to the Joystiq writeup, "Some point this week."
Harmonix is fast scaling the ranks of my favorite devs.

Yeah, that's happening next week. After I leave approx Weds, you'll probably move through three more 100-page threads before I'm back online....

Did they actually implement my idea and create an entire section for Rock Band DLC?

You go back to sleep right now and don't wake up until we have online Band World Tour. Do it now!
