I'm trying to play through an Expert Guitar career, and "Electric Version" is kicking my ass pretty hard. I'm pretty sure once I get past it I'll be okay until "Run to the Hills" and "Green Grass and High Tides" but that ONE SONG is just kind of roadblocking me...
It's pretty tough. I think it would have proven to be a huge stumbling block for me if I hadn't already cut my teeth on many months of GH2/GH80s expert charts.
Are you trying to downstrum everything in the verse, or are you alt-strumming the entire song? I find it easier to downstrum the whole verse and only alt-strum the three-groups in the chorus. This does tend to wear my hand out :P but I'm much more accurate with demanding chord changes when I'm only downstrumming.
Fuck...I've taken to trying to get the achievements for ranked score duel and tug of war, but the rampant quitting is so damn frustrating.
I've been having the same problem. If there was a way to guarantee we get into the same game, I'd be willing to give you five wins if you did the same for me.
So, I've got something of a problem. I run a gaming event every week in one of the lecture halls here at Ohio university, and a typical event is Rock Band. This requires, however, that my audio and power hookups take up space in places people walk, and last night the worst thing happened.
The system was on with Rock Band in when a guy accidentally hit the AV cables, moving the system forcefully. The system is fine, but my copy of Rock Band is absolutely wrecked.
So, my question is, is there some way I can get it replaced or do I have to buy a new copy? I bought my copy last December, and after checking the normal replacement site (where one sends in damaged instruments, as I've often had to), there's no replacements on the disc. Any advice on what I should do?

Try calling up EA and attempting to speak with a human being. It's worth a try.

also, this. Can't hurt to give it a shot. But I still want to hear about you shanking that clumsy jerk who ruined your disc.
I can't really hold it against him. It's a not optimal place to have my system, however, it's the best the room has. The benefit, of course, is that we get two 40 foot screens to play games on and theater-level surround sound, which makes any game just the most epic thing ever. PS2s that I bring usually get knocked about, but they're not really susceptible to the disc fragging that the 360 does, fortunately.
I'm actually going to be starting a Rock Band monthly (?) event at the bar where I work. We've got a decent sound setup and a decent projection screen, so I have high hopes.
I'm really paranoid about an incident like what you're describing... I'm going to duct tape the Xbox to the fucking table.

That may be a bit much. My events are usually ~6 hours long, so I just make sure the 360 is set up in a well ventilated place that's as out of the way as possible, but people will always be people so make sure you've got replacement sites bookmarked and know the numbers to call for repairs and replacement. I've had power cords yanked while the system was on, dudes flar out shattering the bass pedal, and all sorts of stuff so it's really mostly about understanding that when you take your gaming setup and set it up publically shit will happen to it. The upside, of course, is that you get way more people to play with and you get to play games in non-standard ways.
So really, the question is how much is fun worth to you in terms of risk? Given MS's and EA's replacement policies, there's really relatively little risk associated with doing some public event with a 360 and Rock Band, so don't be too worried.
I pretty much expect the bass pedal to fall prey to some drunk's oafish stomping. Aside from that, my only concern is that the 360 will need to kind of be right in the middle of the room--it's that, or we shell out many many dollars on extension A/V cords and wireless controllers etc.
It's definitely worth the risk. We've been talking about doing a Rock Band Night at the bar since months before the game even released. I've got all the DLC, we're pushing up against 150 songs, and there's just no reason not to do it.
For many of you reading this site, you've had these tracks for a few months now. We weren't given indication if or when they would be available on Marketplace.

So I thought I'd use the headset to try and sing and play drums at the same time...
Anyone know why I'm getting a 1-2 second lag on the mic that makes it impossible to play? I don't think it's a calibration thing...all the other instruments are fine, including the normal microphone. This one just apparently likes to play back what I say a second after I say it.
Also, I have done this successfully once before, so I don't know what happened. o_O
Also, was listening to it last night, and not sure if I'd heard someone here suggest it before: Who else would fucking love "Band on the Run" in Rock Band?

Wireless headset?
Friend of mine says he gets lots of wacky lag with the wireless headset, regardless of what he's playing.

So I was cooking some lunch while my sister was playing online by herself. She picks up an Expert Guitarist and an Easy Drummer. After a few songs, the guitar dude insists on my sister to play GG/HT saying that there's no way she could beat it. She does fine until the end where the guitar strap falls off when she activated Overdrive and she failed out at 98% of the solo.
The guy who was on Expert Bass, who had failed out twice earlier, laughs and says something along the lines of "haha I'm in the top 800 for GH3." o_O I don't understand why people talk shit in Band Quickplay...it's not like it's Score Duel/Tug-o-war.
I have a (probably stupid) question. How on earth do you use the pickup switch? I was playing a song about 10 minutes ago (all the small things actually) and I decided to flip the switch around a couple times for a little while and it didn't change the sound of anything at all. I did some googling and the best I can find is that the switch is supposed to go between wah-wah, echo, flange, etc, but it doesn't seem to change anything on my game.
Any ideas? Oddly google hardly has any information about this other than articles written when the fender was first revealed long before the game came out.

Only works during solos.
Was that part of the recent updates? I could have sworn that moving the switch altered the sound throughout the song.

62 % on Run to the Hills Expert Drums. I was super excited when I got this on like my second try thinking I could just keep trying and inching closer to the finish. But nope, I always failed out around 60% at best. I am pretty sure I could pass this song if everything went well. I can usually start out the red roll of death pretty well, but my hands spaz out soon and I start hitting the red drum with both hands at once instead of alternating. I just dont have the stamina to keep a roll for that long.
Oh well, at least I finally 5 starred Orange Crush and then passed Outside!

Time to buy a new disc, and then tell that bonehead that he can either help you recoup the cost or you can introduce him to your friend Rusty Shiv.

I'll try giving EA a call on Monday.

You need a PhD to run that stuff son. You think ordinary people know how to swing a crate or open a crowbar?
it's funny even if you did this on purpose, but it's funnier if you didn't

That Andrew MK dude does seem to know how to rock out properly, I'll give the song that.
