This week's DLC for $1.99 per song (160 Microsoft Points) or these songs can also be bought in a 3-song Classic Rock pack for $5.49 (440 Microsoft points).
I pretty much expect the bass pedal to fall prey to some drunk's oafish stomping. Aside from that, my only concern is that the 360 will need to kind of be right in the middle of the room--it's that, or we shell out many many dollars on extension A/V cords and wireless controllers etc.
It's definitely worth the risk. We've been talking about doing a Rock Band Night at the bar since months before the game even released. I've got all the DLC, we're pushing up against 150 songs, and there's just no reason not to do it.
Rock Band Night at a bar in Chapel Hill? Which one?
We're probably going to give it a first try sometime the week of the 21st, but it might have to wait a little longer. My roommate is the only bartender who's willing to have it happen on one of her shifts, and she's going out of town for about a week pretty soon, so.
I was drumming along just for kicks, and came upon More Than a Feeling in my journey. Since I was belting some of it out when I could manage the concentration, I figured I'd switch to vocals and do it properly. After finishing, inspired by my performance, I decided to take on my last expert vocals song: Long Time. It's been the only one left for months. Blinking red meter, but success: Virtuouso is mine!
Now I'm feeling really ambitious. I decide it's time to spend some time on RttH and claim the last of my expert instrumental achievments. I thought this would take a long time. But powered on my high of beating the expert vocal career, I managed to scrape through it. An-i-mal indeed!
The point of this story: walls randomly collapse in this game. I didn't practice either of these songs, and my victory was very, very ugly. But if you throw yourself at something long enough, eventually things line up just right. Perhaps this will give some of you hope for the future!
so I took my xbox to an overnight event at the school, and it was totally sweet and whatnot, but I wasn't hooked up to the internet and couldn't play the DLC (it would load forever and there was no preview)

So I found a bit of a bug in the patch. I was psyched when I saw that it caches your DLC data, because I thought it might be a way around the DRM that screwed me when MS replaced my red ring console (My XBox isn't always connected to the internet.) Sure enough, I was online the first time it loads, and now even if I'm disconnected, it shows my DLC songs on the list to play. However, if I try to play, it sits at the loading screen forever.

If Microsoft replaced your console, you should be able to delete and redownload the DLC and update the DRM. Its something they supposedly set on their end when they replace your console. Worked for me with my old XBLA games. Geometry Wars and such wouldn't play offline after getting my replacement console, but deleting and redownloading it fixed the DRM and allowed it to play offline again.
so just delete the songs and redownload them, or hwhat?
You don't need to delete them, at least not in my experience. Just select them from download history (or the Rock Band store, or wherever) and select Download Again. It goes much faster this way, since it will quickly see that you already have the content and not actually download the bits.

Bit of a threadjack, but if my DRM didn't auto-update and re-downloading doesn't work, is there anything I can do other than deal with MS support?
Just so you know, that isn't a guaranteed fix. I re-downloaded everything in my history when I got my replacement, and nothing still works when I'm offline.
Oh...hrm. Looks like one of the top ranked vocalists was able to figure out how to gold star "The Hand That Feeds" which had been on the impossible list for a long ass time. This leaves "Vasoline" and "I'm So Sick" on the impossible list for now.
I need to get over this lingering cough so I can drop another 100k points to my career score so I can be on the 2nd page of the leaderboards.
What's so hard about The Hand That Feeds? I'm not a vocalist so I wouldn't really know. It just doesn't seem like a very hard song to sing, since Trent Reznor isn't exactly the greatest vocalist around or anything.

I think its more of just their not being enough points available in the song to hit the games gold star cut off formula. It just takes a really specific overdrive path apparently.
Finally got a mic stand so I can practice drumming+singing without wearing a coat hanger around my neck. It's a straight stand, which blows, but I got it for free with the (real) microphone I bought today.
So if you're interested in seeing a not-particularly-mindblowing video of me doing expert drums and medium vocals on Buddy Holly:

Gah, Fucking fucking fuck fucking fuck. Should I Stay or Should I Go can fuck off and die in the corner of hell that spawned it. How is this song this difficult to sing? I honestly don't get it.... Fucking 94%.. Ninety Fucking Four Percent! And I have to go try again... Gah.

Huzzah!
I good night.
Everything is now 5 or gold star'd with the one exception of Run to the Hills (for those triplets). Any tips for that song?
I think I'm now in the top 10,000 for the leaderboards, but I'd have to check.
What I don't get is how I 100%'d Wave of Mutilation and still didn't get a gold star, dirty bastards.
Also, (and pardon the patting myself on the back) I was feeling pretty great when I 100%'d the first 3 solo's for the Aerosmith song. It was like my fingers had a mind of their own.

It's not hard at all aside from the semi-tricky outro (for some people). As mentioned, this song actually lacks enough Overdrive to obtain the proper score to gold star. This was noticed a while back and the top scores for this were about 200ish points off from gold starring it. It was only recently that someone was able to "squeeze" out the second and last activations to obtain enough points to clear the cutoff.
Squeezing an activation basically means you activate the overdrive as late as possible in the freestyle section. This supposedly gives you about 1.5 seconds or so of extended Overdrive. This is key when trying to chain overdrives in songs that would appear to be impossible. In this case, it was simply to add a measly 200 points to clear the cutoff. Whether this is a bug or a feature, no one knows.
Oh yeah, big mistake singing online with a frog voice. Apparently, the randoms I had insisted I 100% Dani California despite my pleas that I was still ill. Well I did, but imagine a throat cancer patient singing it and that's how I sounded. Dunno why they chose that song...I guess they think the falsetto/Frusciante section is hard or something.
Well, I managed to improve my scores on Tom Sawyer and Long Time on hard vocals tonight, while having a puppy in my face and playing the percussion sections one handed.

how can I correct that for next time?
Did you buy the content on that Xbox?
If you did, it was probably just glitching..
Playing on a Strat? If so... you know what you doing. Take off every solo buttons.
I tried to activate Overdrive on the last OBY section and failed out because of it

There have been reports of this happening to other people too, and if you call MS and bitch, the first thing they tell you to do is re-download. If that doesn't work, they say that they have to transfer your licenses, which apparently takes upwards of a month: http://consumerist.com/372215/update-microsoft-may-slowly-be-fixing-their-broken-xbox-drm
Hope the re-download works for you, because it didn't for me, and I've been waiting going on four weeks now to get it fixed.
EDIT: Although, I have only done this once since the patch.

Cap you rule. Your singing fills had me literally laughing out loud. Oh jeez. Good job too.
I am also getting this. It's very annoying when I try to play songs that have alot of them in a row.
