I think I'm done for tonight. Wore my voice out already, and anyway, I don't know if I can follow up the falsetto-fest with anything worth watching until the air clears a bit.
Finally got a mic stand so I can practice drumming+singing without wearing a coat hanger around my neck. It's a straight stand, which blows, but I got it for free with the (real) microphone I bought today.
So if you're interested in seeing a not-particularly-mindblowing video of me doing expert drums and medium vocals on Buddy Holly:
The first song I did drums/vocals on was Paranoid on Hard/Hard. That was a big mistake.
EDIT: AHAHAHA! He finally uploaded the video. So fucking funny. I heard about the joke but this is my first time seeing it in action. I'm talking about "meowing" Still Alive.
Ditto. I'm feeling tons better than yesterday. Plus I can probably convince my sister to give up her spot by letting her play Phoenix Wright on my DS. :P
Man it felt good to boot up Rock Band last night. To think I almost waited until Simple Man released to get some time in. I also spent a lot of time w/ the logo creator and made the absolutely perfect image for our fake band in time for our fake performance at the real-life rock band party...woo!
Do have a question for other singers out there...is it just me or is the cover of Working Man hard to score well on? I find that I have a lot of problems on covers in this game because I listen to the master version while I'm at work, and subconsciously I think I try to sing it like that...it takes me a long time to get used to matching the cover vocals, but Work Man seems even harder than usual. Anyone else feel this way?

Probably because while they do play individually in the studio, they probably play their parts individually. So that means that you'll get overlapping bass/vocals.
Yeah, I figured for some reason the cover version's vocals got lowered or something...I'll just have to listen to the cover version a few times to pick it up...thanks.
Oh, and btw...Even Rats just popped up on my iTunes...thought that might make a few of you smile...and if it doesn't...for shame.
I have such a love-hate relationship with Rock Band right now, on one hand: It is fun, tons of good songs, fun with groups etc etc.
On the other hand, RARGH! This game frustrates me so much sometimes. I still have to... 100% a song on Expert Drums(which apparently is freaking hard because between my drums dropping random notes and me screwing up for no reason I can't get it.), beat RRTH on Hard Drums(This can go die.), beat GG&HT on Expert Guitar. (Haven't even tried in a two months or so, barely played Guitar since then.) And beat the Clash song on Expert vocals. It's just when I attempt these and fail, I get so frustrated I can't play RB for a few hours or more.
Oh yeah, as I mentioned, my good drumset which the 3rd one I got from RMA and has been good for a couple months now is now dropping random notes.
Despite all of these complaints. I still love my Rock Band, the abusive drunk husband that it is.
The game's more fun when you're not banging your head against the same wall over and over. I really enjoyed working to increase my guitar career score for a few weeks, and then eventually it started to feel like work, so I stopped. Haven't bothered since, and I'm still enjoying the shit out of the game.
"I Think I'm Paranoid" is what I used to get the 100% Achievement for drums. I also got 100% on "Live Forever." If you can manage the drum rolls, you can probably just keep trying "29 Fingers" until you get it since it's shorter than the other songs I mentioned...I think.
EDIT: Echoing what K said. I don't sit down and grind out the best scores constantly on Solo Tour. When I do, it's usually for an hour or less. Usually a Rock Band session starts with me walking in to my sister playing and then she coaxes me to play online. Or it's me trying to gold star and succeeding/failing enough to decide to play online. Then realize how lucky I am to have a sister who loves this game.
I realized I still haven't ever registered the 100% Expert Drums achievement--the few times I've made it through a song without one or two missed notes, I wasn't playing on my actual profile. :P
I think I could probably nail it on Buddy Holly within a few tries, if I really sat down and decided to just drum through it.
I was so close to getting the 100% Expert Guitar achievement last night, but I some how manage to choke on the last couple of notes and end up getting a 99% for a final score.
Everything is now 5 or gold star'd with the one exception of Run to the Hills (for those triplets). Any tips for that song?
Instead of playing them as gallops (with a break), just play them as straight triplets, ignoring the gap. Believe it or not, the timing window is wide enough to allow this, and after barely getting 3* every other time I played it, I managed to get 5* on my first try doing it this way.

I heard uhm...whatsisface being interviewed on the radio about their new record. I don't remember what the name of the song was they played in the studio but it sounded pretty good. I'm not too much of a Crüe fan either.
EDIT: Now I remember, it was Nikki Sixx who they interviewed.
Does anybody here play on ps3? The only info I see in the OP deals only with 360. If there is a list of ps3 players, could someone provide me a link and add me to the list? It'd be nice to play some all expert bands.
After my red drum pad cracked in half I received a new drum set and realized that my drums have been dropping hits all this time. Maybe 1 out of every 800 notes or so, so I always just assumed I was getting slightly off rhythm... but it turns out it was the drums. I've 100%'d 4 or 5 songs that I never could before since then.
I've used this method to check other sets and it works well:
Practice mode, Foreplay/Longtime, any diff, Big Rock Ending, 50% speed. I sat there and repeatedly hit the same drum for like 4 minutes straight. 3 times it was very clear that it missed a hit even though I was hitting it with a steady rhythm. If you're having trouble getting 100%, maybe give that a shot and see if your drums need an RMA.

I bet it'll be only a one song week. Or did it say that there will be more later?

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.

There are like 5 of us on PS3, hehe. My PSN is FiddleHumper, feel free to add me but the online play on PS3 is broken so there's approximately a 5% chance that I'll actually be able to play online with you :-|
Im curious if HMX will divulge what the turnaround time on this was. This HAD to be one of those crazy last second things they talk about - and the deal in place to get them the master tracks BEFORE the album comes out to the public?
Total faith HMX can do anything they want now.

this is also not particularly spectacular
Yeah, it's extremely annoying when you can play through expert but can't get more than 50 notes in a row on the easiest songs. Blech.

All the Rush songs are covers because of some track recording issues that prevented a master recording being used. That's what I heard at least.

Shh.
I thought this was for next week.
I need my 360 back.
