I'm a big fan of the new splatter system. I think splattering gets easier with experience, especially in the case of the warthog.
The mongoose is rather tricky but still manageable. A nice mongoose splatter tastes great with a side of honk.
Not for me. I don't even bother trying them anymore from the number of times I have hit someone square (not a glancing shot) going at top speed (not accelerating) only to have them skip away with nary but a flash of the shield and a bullet-shaped reprisal for me. I suck at Halo, but I can acknowledge where my own skill let me down. The amount of times I've been robbed of a legitimate splatter kill is taking a very frustrating toll.
That's the tricky part. Simply driving won't kill someone, even at top speed - at least that's how it appears to me. For the majority of my Hog/Goose splattering, I tap the brakes just as I hit them, so the forward momentum of it all just wrecks the guy. I don't know why but it works.
I'm imagining there's a bowling ball on the dashboard and that when I brake into them it propels forward demolishing their face. It sounds ridiculous but in my experience that's how the splattering works for the most part.
edit: Still not sure what they're getting after with the overtly difficult hit-n-run mechanics. Alternatively if your vehicle is in mid-air, it will splatter pretty much anything it touches. GG Bungie.
But.. nailing someone with a speeding vehicle should kill them. Really it should.
I don't like that it defies logic but I do like that it adds a level of skill to splattering. Unnecessary, illogical skill.
If it means I'm not getting splattered nearly as much, I approve.
The funny thing is the reason vehicles were death machines in Halo 1 was because they couldn't get their physics system to cooperate and have the vehicles push people when there was a glancing blow.
So the solution was to just kill people if a vehicle pretty much touched them for longer than a second.
Heh. I would guess that 80-90% of what made the original Halo so great was accidental.
What you must realise is that this is similar to a religion debate. Christians will claim fact God exists, Atheists will claim fact he doesn't. Given neither can actually be proved, there is no fact. This is similar, there really isn't a valid method to determine whether the camera zooms out too much to see or not. But I've looked at all the evidence and it's far too heavily swayed to 'not' that I would consider the matter settled and anybody who can seriously believe otherwise is some kind of crazy (coincidentally this is also my opinion of people who believe in God).
I would like to add, I am not in anyway angry here at all.
Firstly, the stuff about particles effects everywhere clouding the view is bollocks and anyone who plays this game will know it. It's flat out lying. I prefaced only one comment with 'I feel' and this was in regards to characters being too small. Well actually, I don't consider it subjective, it's fact. The visibility is not poor for anybody with average or better eyesight (and neither will I accept having a rubbish TV as proof), he is wrong. I listed two possible exceptions, where the camera can zoom out a long way. However, this does not equate to an overall rating of 'poor', in the same way that a D and 4 Bs out of 5 exams would not result in a D overall.
I would also like to add that complaints arising from a lack of basic knowledge, e.g 'I didn't read the instructions or controls and I don't know what's going on, this game sucks!' are really not valid at all.
Except he's pretty much right and has laid out why, going "olol someones going to say X" doesn't make them any less wrong. Maybe you could offer a counter argument, as you know that's what forums are for - Discussions. Otherwise fuck off, nobody gives a crap about your 'snappy' one lines.

It's funny when people expect every review to follow their opinion of the game
If you like the game why the fuck are you reading or caring about reviews
I agree. I still read a lot of reviews, and sometimes I find it funny when I completely disagree with someone who the vast majorty of the time I agree with. It's just one of those things, everyone is a little different and there are no two people who agree on everything.
Oh man, Stevo you are going to love this new map I am working on.
I require details to satisfy my thirst for custom maps while stuck at work.
Its another open feeling map. But it has 4 levels instead of three. The bases each take up almost 50% of the usable space. There are two elevators that take you from the ground floor to the fourth. I had to use map geometry and object merging in order to get them to work properly. The catwalks are going to be really interesting. The whole thing is split down the middle diagonally instead of horizontally.
Battle Rifle is n00b
and A.R.'s my gun,
B.R.'s for faggotz,
mine is for fun.
But really I hate the battle rifle. I don't know why the pistol worked as well as it did but I had no problem with that.
edit: Are we talking Foundry? Because god the possibilities for that wonderful template are endless. Basically finished the map I was working on, calling it Always Sunny for now. (Great show.) Still need some opinions on the areas furthest from the base, but that will have to wait until late tonight. Le cry.
What you need to realize is that the debate of BR start or AR start is exactly like a religious debate.
And lo,(23) the MLG player dideth spawn with a BR(24), but still complained about the lack of an all Midship playlist(25), but FyreWulff still killed him with his AR anyway(26)
It's probably been mentioned (many times) but what other Halo maps would you like to see remade? Or reimagined?
For the sake of CTF Pro I'd want Prisoner and Damnation. Chiron TL 34 is my number one favorite Halo map of all time though. I have been wishing since before launch.

Yes Foundry. As far as the battle rifle is concerned, I don't mind it so much. I am nowhere near as good with it as most of the Halo 2 players out there but its a good gun. I think it fits in well. But I don't think it is a good choice by itself. I am really starting to appreciate the variety of weaponry in Halo 3. I used to only like the Halo 1 weapons, the AR, Rocket, Shotgun, Sniper.. But now I really like them all quite a bit. And that is starting to be reflected in the weapon placements on my custom maps.
I think the people who play these games with justs BRs all over the place are really missing out.

Terminal and Headlong.
I don't trust them to bring back Hang Em High without making BR starts the default therefore breaking it (argh)
Also I'd like to see the concept of Backwash come back. I don't neccarily care if they actually bring back the map itself, but I'd like another limited-visibility map like that again.
Waterworks for Big team, and Headlong for great justice.
But In all seriousness, no remakes for a while bungie. Be creative.
I admire the creativity but I think we had enough of that with the plethora of crappy maps H3 was shipped with. Let us be creative. Give us more templates like Foundry.
As far as originality goes, make really kickass reimagining of the maps we already know are fun as hell. I really wouldn't mind seeing more familiar places if it meant assembling H3's map list to be something of a dream team.
I prefer the AR over the BR in terms of fun, but the BR is a superior weapon. as even in close range just get a melee off then it's a one shot to the head...also remake chiron!

I don't know if you have played on my map 'CTF Pro - Found' yet but in it I try to take the gameplay elements that Hang'em High offered in the original Halo and recreate them. It isn't a reconstruction of the map, but I do feel it has some of the same elements that made Hang'em High so much fun.

I'd appreciate a god-damn great remake of this, but it would need some awesome.
Like if the train was on fire, and New mombasa is now a charred mess of torn up city blocks.

Terminal with new vehicles would be pretty wonderful. I wasn't a big fan during Halo 2 but I imagine the mongooses could bring something special to the map.
I think those new image filters for forge are basically the equivalent of limited visibility Backwashing. Hang Em High not being in Halo 2 was strike one. Then they made Tombstone, instant strikeout. :x I think Prisoner, Damnation, Midship, Wizard, Chiron TL 34 and Blood Gulch (the original) would translate really well to Halo 3. Almost forgot about Ivory Tower. That would be cool too.
I just wish they would port some of these things over, change the color scheme or redesign things here and there, and then release like... a Nostalgia Megapack but instead of 3 for $10 it's something closer to 6 or 7 maps since they're not being made from scratch. Does anyone know how long Bungie plans to keep releasing map packs for Halo 3 or was this the last one?

Holy god. That... is an amazing idea.
Maybe some charred corpses strung about for good measure...
One issue I would like fixed though would be the awful god damn perch that you could spawn into but never climb into. Maybe make that a catwalk with a sniper rifle on it accessible by portal like the highest part in Damnation.

Damnit, my map just broke. I am using the infinite budget glitch and now it wont let me spawn any new double boxes. I have to revert back to an old save.

What is this budget glitch? I must know. Unless it's complicated. Because I am lazy.
Don't max out any objects and you will be fine. Or if you do happen to max one object out, don't delete any of them. You won't be able to make anymore. Also don't delete any of the objects already placed on the map. You can move them around but don't delete them. At least not until you are finished. You might want to save an alternate version of your map before deleting them once you are finished as well.
You can stuff Warthogs in the cranes on Foundry but that's about it. Abstract Halo's done, on my fileshare. I guarantee it's the most random map you'll ever play. There's even an outside section.
Nothing sours me on playing on LIVE more than playing my first two games of team doubles and getting bitched at the whole match about how much I suck. I want to leave the headset on to work together, but I'm still just learning the game you fucks.
Always play doubles with friends, never randoms. You're at least guarenteed someone that will cooperate and not bitch all the time if you're with a buddy.

Call it Termination. C'mon Bungie. Get cracking.
Nova obscures your vision a little TOO much..
Or you can be creative with it and spawn a plasma cannon up there. :winky:

Hey SkutSlut, what's your GT?
Reply to this thread with them.
going to follow bungie's rule, which is a good one - no scoped weapons.
Well the odd part is the previous 2 games in FFA, I took 2nd place. I thought I was getting better, but apparently not heh.
Stryker if you need a partner later, let me know. Arizona represent and stuff...
