Flag at home just turns it from 4v4 to 3v3 as the two flags sit in their bases, waiting for the other team to make a move.
Personally, I think multi flag should just go die because 1 Flag is vastly superior.
edit: because one team just gets to do all out offense and the other plays defense. In multi flag, it just turns into waiting for one team to stack one more guy on offense and punching through. I know some HBOtards like 3 hour games but I don't. I think the perfect length for a Halo game is 12 minutes.
Thank Bungie for not fixing the flag carriers have full use of vehicles option (custom games obviously). Back in Halo CE flag carriers were crucial as hog drivers for returning your own flag.
And in CTF Pro I have tried to emphasize that as much as possible. On CTF Pro - Found if your flag carrier isn't helping return your flag your team is probably going to lose.
Flag not at home to score turns a 4v4 CTF game into two seperate 2v2s most games. And on top of that...your arguement doesn't make any sense because your flag carrier does even less. It just so happens that you have a player holding the flag less often, the times he IS holding the flag he doesnt do anymore than he would in a flag at home game. He does less because his thoughts are so straight forward. 'Get the flag back to base to score.' That is it. That is all he has to worry about. That is all anyone on the team really has to worry about. It dumbs the game down from intricate strategy and tactics into a race.
And one flag CTF lacks diversity. The encounters are way too straight forward.
Back in Halo CE it only took one player to rush the base and bring the flag back. I don't know how many flag games I won in Halo PC's demo by just driving around to the back of the base, walking in, grabbing the flag and driving off, but it was too many.
In Halo 2 and 3 it actually requires teamwork. It is not dumbed down. It is interesting andfun. It is damn near impossible to dumb Halo down, short of giving everyone superglue autoaim and shooting the guns for you.
And I don't know why you're trying to say 1 flag is a race. Well, because it's kind of the point to want to get the flag back home, but the only "we must race them to the cap!" has happened in 2 flag games..
Well on say Foundry, I spawned behind like two feet behind an enemy at least twice in a round. And there's the countless Spawn and BR to the head. If you're team is dying more than the other, it's just gonna snowball.
Default foundry is a Fuster Cluck of a map. The need to run a contest for the best foundry map to get some quality in there.
Abstract Halo.:winky:
And 1 flag/ 1 bomb is superior, and I used to play A fuckton of UT2K4 so used to be a standard for me.
Is it just me or do I still barely see the resemblance between Avalanche and Sidewinder
I mean, I recognize the Bridge of Doom, and the bases..
but the rest of it seems barely familiar. If Bungie hadn't told us that it was Sidewinder and it didn't have teleporters, I would have never even noticed until I saw the bridge. Then again, halo 1's scale was way off and I only ever really saw the game in splitscreen.
Also after playing it a lot, i think it was a really good move to remove that hallway. That would have map the map stupid because nobody would have used vehicles. I mean, if you put the effort into it you could just re-create it anyway :!: But the current setup makes it viable for infantry while still allowing vehicles to be effective.
Also I just love it when people botch cannoning into the base and getting rejected by the base cannon.
Cannons are so much better than teleporters.
I was talking with Tomcat a long time ago, and I proposed to him that they could make Beaver Creek work by porting it over, and instead of having the teleporters, they would have it go down into caverns below the bases and have a mancannon jump over a bottomless pit. I now have a good example in the cavern cannons on Avalanche
I love the cave cannon on Avalanche. Sometimes you can jump over it in a vehicle.. other times you get juggled back and forth three times before falling to your death. It's absolutely brilliant.
Before this whole legendary map pack thing, I had no idea Pro was a subscription thing. I was always under the impression that the 750 points was a one time deal.
As it's not, I can pretty much guarantee I'll never buy Bungie Pro. It's pretty retarded.
I dare a newcomer to Halo to indentify which one is Guardian and which one is Blackout, without looking at the filenames
[IMG][/img][IMG][/img]
Not gonna happen in this thread since none of us are "newcomers".
It is pretty silly how identically the maps end up playing. Only significant differences is most center-map dying on Blackout is in the under-glass spot, and on Guardian it's top center. Same with the gold lift, it's the analog to the suicide room but they are swapped vertically.
yea that one was pretty easy...also hey darley you going to be on tonight, I haven't been able to play lately been working a lot and playing EVE . Damn my weakness for space sim! Anyway I should be on tonight

Note that I just cheated and flipped Guardian vertically.
I just like how when you do that, the right half of the maps match perfectly.
I still prefer Blackout. I can build more fun stuff on it.
Damnit, why couldn't they have beta'd Forge too. Then they would have realized sooner that we wanted more buildingblock type objects and not so many decorators.
For example, Narrows has the most useless scenery palette in existence.

I won't be on until Sunday, unfortunately. Sorry I've been off the last few nights, just haven't felt in the Xbox mood, and I'm going to stay at my sister's place over the weekend. I'll try to get some serious practice in with you guys when I get back, though.

It reminds me of the Halo PC version a lot. It plays almost the same too.
Main difference being the man cannons would be teleporters.
Ahh you know what's better than Team SWAT? Just some objective games on Avalanche. So good.
Avalanche is basically all I've played in the last couple days. So much fun!
Yeah, I agree. I don't mind the 30 minute long games at all.
I prefer them over the retardo, super quick, 12 minute games. I don't know what's the rush anyway, did everyone become experience whores nowadays? BTB is about big, drawn out battles.

No, I like experiencing more than 3 games per night. I honestly think this is why CoD4 took off, because the matches are over after not too long, whereas Halo is just like "okay, can we just end the game now" a lot of the time.\

What kind of photos do you need for your review, Fyre?
Just actionsy shots that take place on any of the Legendary maps.
I prefer long matches, it also sets that mood of desperation when your playing multiflag or something and you've been deadlocked with the other team at 2 points each and it's a struggle trying to get the other teams flag.
Forget 25-30 min matches. I want some epic, flag at home to score, hour + avalanche matches! Flag at home to score opens up so many fun scenarios. You are about to score, and an enemy picks up your flag... do you chase him down and have a flag battle? or go hide? Where do you go wait for your flag to be returned? I'd go hide in the little crack between the main mancannon into the base (everyone would expect you to hide in the teleporter area).
They would have to lower the time it takes to return a flag though... it's very hard to return your flag once it's past halfway with the fast respawns. Hell, I would even go for a "classic" ctf mode. Flag at home to score, touch flag to return it to base.

This is completely awesome except one thing:
Your flag wasn't at home. Christ matchmaking is gay.
Get off your motherfucking high horse about CTF. Jesus.
I refuse!
Flag at Home to score only works on small maps, which is basically only Midship, and only in a system link enviroment.
Note how Halo 3 has neither over Live.

Sounds like they're going to make the game they originally wanted Halo to be.. which is pretty cool.
A sandbox guerilla war? Yes please. Doesn't even have to be Halo related, it just has to be made by Bungie.
Or even the squad-based ODST game some of us have been clamouring for? I'd be instantly more excited in that than Halo Wars if so.
Avalanche is basically all I've played in the last couple days. So much fun!

Like... I don't get why Guardian is called Guardian. or Epitaph is Epitaph.
Now, Avalance, Snowbound, and Sandtrap are all pretty obvious, its the others that I figured were just pulled out of their asses.
Pokemon Safari - Sneasel, Pawniard, ????
No peeking.

Halo 3 doesn't really have a scheme persay, like Halo 2 did.
If Halo 2 had a Halo 1 remake, they tried to change it into a word that ended in -tion
Blood Gulch -> Coagulation
Longest -> Elongation
Derelict -> Desolation
Halo 3's are kinda.. abstract religious..
Epitaph is named as such since it's basically a Forerunner church, and is their epitaph written upon their grave (a dead planet)
Sandtrap was actually Shrine at one point.
Then you have Guardian, which if you take it's inspiration from Lockout + Ascension.. that's a Guardian. something that keeps things locked out.
