You can cook them by holding down B. They have a 4 or 5 second fuse so holding down for a few seconds can make them blow up in the target's face.
If an opponent attacks a grenade, it blows up. So you can toss them into people going through a long attack animation/sequence that's not a threat to you.
If you shield (and only shield, not air dodge) while holding a grenade, you drop it. This lets you do things like leave one on the ground as you roll to safety. I've seen videos where Snake will prime a grenade and shield to block an incoming attack. The attacks detonates the grenade while the shield protects Snake from the blast.
My friend cannot get online. He used the USB Connector successfully on his computer/TV monitor, but it refused to work when he moved his Wii across the hall to his bigger room with a proper TV. Assuming it was the distance, I downloaded the software for his brother's PC and stuck the USB connector there.
No dice. The connection test works, but we get a big fat 20100 error every time we connect to WFC on Brawl.
The infuriating part? Everything else works fine. I went onto Wii Shop and downloaded several updates with no issues. Next, I went into Everyone Votes and did four polls without any sign of trouble. The second I head back to Brawl, I get the 20100 again.
This makes NO sense. Why would the rest of the Wii's online channels work JUST fine except for Brawl? And why did changing TVs make such a big damn deal. He had no problem connecting to WFC on his other TV/Monitor and spectated matches. He had the standard "With Anyone" issues when trying to fight, but no error codes at all.
I am livid about this. Since the TV in his room doubles as his computer, he wants the Wii on the other TV so he can do work and other people can still play on it. Everything works fine EXCEPT FOR FUCKING Brawl. I have no idea what to do. The 20100 error does jack for help.

Or I guess it would be more accurate to say I can get on (very slowly), but can never connect to anyone to fight. Similar problem with the Shop channel - I can connect (eventually), but I can't download shit.
almost got you on pictochat but you were able to get the final smash. Man I couldn't catch a break. But i'll be back.
Also MTS and NICK if you are wondering why I killed myself twice, it's because I dashed right into NICK's smash move when I didnt want to (this is because the input lag queues up your moves).

I just blasted through event mode, so I only did a handful on the real difficulties. I'll probably get back to it when I'm not still grinding my way through classic/all-star because Jesus Christ it's taking forever to get my goddamn trophies
