I'm trying to decide which console I will be buying this for. The deciding factors for me are quality of gfx and framerate, and multiplayer community. It seems to me that most of you will be getting this for the 360, correct? I checked out the gametrailers.com comparison video and they both seem to be the same quality, maybe a slight bit better for the PS3. Has anyone tried both demos?

I could never live with the XM8, there is no way i will ever shoot as well with it as the M16, 9 shots fired at the head / neck in 2-3 round bursts; i don't need your motherfucking sniper. 8-)

I've unlocked both and keep finding myself going back to the m16 but I'm a sucker for that weapon in any game.

After playing for another night I'm sure I'll be picking this up when I go to the city next week, it is still out next week I hope. I'm still unsure about how co-op the play will be in the end but the rounds have been fun for the most part. How organized have your guy's squads been so far? Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you can respawn as long as someone in your squad is left (hence the warning for 'last man standing'), can you tell how it picks which squad member you'll spawn from from this? I remember one of the highlights from BF2 was spawning off the squad leader and this meant you took a bit of a hit in your score as squad leader since you may decide to stay back and let your squad spawn off you for the tactical advantage.

I used to play on the tacticalgamer servers for bf2, if they're still around they were the best server to play on. Squads stuck together and they listened to the commander in every round, but I also had to pay for that pleasure ($8/month to ensure a spot on the server otherwise it was always full) it was worth every penny for the tactical experience mind you. I don't expect that from an XBL game and this one how's it's been made but that server is what I set my sights as the awesome BF experience.

This thread seems likes it's getting to the second page pretty often, not that many PAers playing, or was the last console BF game that bad?

I don't want the Frostbite engine to power the next generation PC Battlefield game. It looks hideous on the consoles and the destructibility is a gimmick I could care less about. Gold Rush feels extremely linear after a while and I hope the Conquest DLC comes out very soon. Bad Company had its moments on the beta and I'm glad to see they've improved upon the demo build but they lost me on the basic class mechanics. Snipers and Support are still overpowered and I don't see them being modified anytime later.

Wow, I'm going on principle here and never buying this game solely because it's console exclusive.

Sorry, but FPS + Analog Controller = not FTW. Especially in this demo. Ugh.

I'm going to go ahead and call this a retarded reason not to own the game.

There are plenty of reasons not to buy it, I have no problem with you not liking it. But just throwing a blanket statement like CONSOLE FPS ARE AWFUL is just dumb.

I've played all the best computer fps games at competitive levels, I get the elitism that usually goes along with people who play on the computers. This game plays well, and translates well to the console. I own COD4 for PC and I own COD4 for the 360, guess which one gets more play time.

Really you might be able to get away with this for TF2 (which blows on 360 and is the bomb shit on PC), but this game handles very well and if that's all you got I think you should try the demo again.

I've played FPS games on consoles before, and have sort of managed to like them, but for some reason this demo has me firing at the ceiling like it's got teeth. Battlefield began as a PC series, and they've gone and sullied the franchise by dumbing down the controls with this one - at least in my eyes. For me, bad controls are a game-breaker.

    I'm just angry...

By the way, before someone calls me a PC elitist outright, let me state that I love my PS3 and all the games I own for it.

Maybe try lowering your sensitivity or something if you're flipping around, I haven't noticed any of that.

It is definitely true that the ALL the bf games handle a little different than other FPS games, and if you're not used to the way the BF games handle maybe that's a big transition as well as the console. I really feel like it moves just as well as BF2 does for the console with some getting used to. I'm able to snipe in the head very well in this, and that's pretty good considering the tiny target and speed of people running.

Might be the case. But sensitivity aside, I'll never have precision coming even close to that of a mouse and keyboard, so I just feel gimped. It feel like I'm downgrading from bare hands to boxing gloves. And the driving controls are all kinds of backwards - both configurations.

If they ever see the light and finally include (in-game) mouse and keyboard support for consoles, I'll be all over that shit.

The PS3 version looks as bad as Haze. The gameplay and humor is very similar as well. I seriously hope they weren't shooting to emulate that. If the 360 version looks anything like the OP's shots they really didn't try hard to port it over.

I am totally with you there, but unfortunately I doubt this will ever become standard.

The tyranny of the lazy couch gamer wins out yet again.

Honestly, if consoles supported K+M out of the box, I'd probably opt for the console version of a game over the PC version. Wait, scratch that. If they offered both K+M and the ability to pick your own game via a browser, THEN I'd go all console. I hate not being able to choose which game I join :P

50 round clip. The bars show the m16 as being more accurate but thats bullshit from what I've seen. Might be a bug in the demo. The vehicles are fun but fucking horrible controls though. I wish they had the cannon operated by one person and the driver be another person. I like flying the chopper but again the controls are shitty.

What's weird about the controls is that they are the same as they have always been for helicopter flying in any BF console game (and pretty much any console game I can think of that has helicopters) but for some reason they reversed the sticks and that really threw me off.

As for the other vehicles the use of the L trigger was a bit odd but once I got used to it I had no problems.

Its still doesn't feel right. I would rather see the tank be harder to use since its fairly overpowered. Meh, I would rather have a PC version with remappable controls.

I'm going to have to trade in some games, too. :( I'll probably stop in tomorrow and pre-order the collector's edition if I still can.

Anyways, just a reminder, we do have a PA 360 profile set up from when the beta was out. That didn't do a lot of good then, though, because for some silly reason they didn't include a friend system in the beta. But now that's in the full game, so we can join each others games and squads. If you guys want to still use it, it's PA Battlefield.

The Bad World trailer is so awesome.

Had this great moment in multiplayer the other day, I was in one of the gold crate rooms (I think the second to last base you get) and I was reloading my weapon when suddenly my ears were ringing and I was down to 13 health, I didn't know what just happened so I turned around and the wall was missing and there was a tank outside looking straight at me.

    Kind of a surprise.

Awesome. Thats the kind of stuff I love about the game, and the destructible buildings. Its a bit of a painful learning experience to figure out what types of walls won't stop bullets from a vehicle's machine gun though.

I'm a whore and signed up for the newsletter for the new support class machine gun. Didn't bother to pre-order for the unlocked sniper rifle as I don't play recon..well..ever. But I wiki'd the name of the gun (dear god I'm a nerd) and its semi-auto rather than bolt action. I wonder if it is in game as well (god knows other gun details are wacky) and if it is then I kinda want it, might make my recon troubles a bit easier.

Yeah that laser lock annoys the hell out of me, the target icon doesn't start blinking until its incoming apparently so popping smoke in a tank does jack shit :(

Rather than a new MG I got the mortar strike unlock for Support.

    7 Team kills.
    7.
Before I got a single enemy kill with that bastard. Fun to try with though. As for choppers I find them rather easy to shoot down with my plain old M249 as Support. As long as they don't notice me.

Of course, this nearby Wal-Mart is so terrible at putting out games that they probably won't have it until later in the week (seriously, they didn't have Brawl on the day it came out.
