A long time ago I read an essay online about Earthbound, specifically, the psychology of Earthbound. I honestly can't remember a whole lot about it, but it was very deep - I seem to remember it being college-level literary analysis. Anyway, at the point when I read it initially, I hadn't played Earthbound, and now that I am, does anyone know where this article is or who wrote it?
Mother 2: Giigu Returns, which would be the greatest videogame of all-time if Super Mario Bros. 3 didn't exist[1], is most definitely a prostitute...And between the time she takes her stockings off and the time she puts them back on, she's going to tell you a story so creepy you will never be able to forget it. Your time with her will not be entirely comfortable, nor will it be entirely enjoyable.
College-level literary analysis, indeed. I'll have to work that one into a paper one of these days.
I don't know if that's the one the OP was looking for but it it's an awesome article. He has similarly awesome writeups for a lot of other games, too.
That's... the one. Thanks! Now to read it and see if it's as deep as I remember. I just finished Earthbound. When the camera man dropped down after the credits, I couldn't help but give the peace sign and say "fuzzy pickles"...
almost sounds like college english courses all over again. No matter the given assignment or writing my roomies and I would relate it to nonsense we like. I must have written 5 papers alone on Robocop and the other half about Batman.
It sure helped to get through those required Freshman courses. That and we'd only write while drinking. Tis the rules of the game.

Thanks for hunting down that link

Also read his essays on FF6 and FF7.
The man knows his video games, that's for sure.
