Just look at the level structure, the nature of the challenges, controls. Honestly, I would say more changed than stayed the same.
And interestingly enough, all of the ways that it changed are pretty much the ways that the Sonic games didn't. I suppose all of the alternate character stuff might count, but Sonic levels have always been about running from one end of a level to another.
I have to wonder if the Sonic games shouldn't have changed as radically as well. Have they failed not just because of design flaws but because Sega is trying to shoehorn older concepts into a genre where they really don't fit?
That may be one of the reasons why I liked SatSR, even with its flaws. It seemed to have a fairly good grasp on exactly what it was and what kinds of things it was supposed to be doing.
Well Mario 64 was still all about platforming. So it kind of was still the same. It didn't suddenly put Mario in a rail shooter or something like that. Not like the way adventure added in a million random shitty things.

So maybe they need to have "Sonic Maze" or "Sonic Dungeon," which is all essentially one gigantic level?
In fact I doubt anyone under 15 could comprehend the Sonic Storyline of the past ten years.
Eh, it's the other way around really. Most grown people mentally switch off when storylines start getting ridiculous, but kids lap that shit up.* Look at how many episodes Naruto has.

this is true for me. I needed to know everything and that still applies, but only to games like Final Fantasy or Metal Gear Solid when understanding the storyline to an extent would be quite important for me to fully appreciate the game...and you just have to let go of the OCD to care about what sonic's up to these days, because that's not really the fun of the game.

I cannot be outdone.
Yet this game will exist in the next decade at the rate sequels are being pumped out.

Sorry guys.
Sonic looks great. My main concern is that I want Sonic to have his weight back again, it makes the speedy parts extra satisfying.
Isn't it strange that Mario can change so much from 2D to 3D but retain the essence of what a Mario game is and Sega have so much trouble doing this with Sonic. It makes me wonder whether Sonic should be more or less like the old games in his 3D ones.

I live in the UK so I don't have Brawl yet, did Sonic lose that stupid toothy Adventure grin in that, or is Unleashed truly the first game in years to have him smile like he used to?

god dammit, stop that shit. How funny can attaching words to a long ass post be? The joke died out 3 pages ago, and spoiling it doesn't make it better.

Like, a huge amount.

I never asked for this!
Yeah, I'd say we should avoid what Sonic's fanbase wants because sonic's fanbase is a bunch of prepubescent retards
Hey, I have a blog! (Actually being updated again!)

You do realize that the Sonic games are, and always have been, aimed at children, right?
I mean, I'm not saying there's any shame in playing children's games as an adult, if they're good.
But you have to realize that you aren't the target audience. It's not designed for you.
Prepubescent fans are exactly what Sega is going for.
and Furries.
but their opinions are poor so pbbbbbth
So maybe they need to have "Sonic Maze" or "Sonic Dungeon," which is all essentially one gigantic level?
Sonic 06 was clearly not aimed at kids. In fact I doubt anyone under 15 could comprehend the Sonic Storyline of the past ten years.
those are the ones with the loose wallets

I think Capcom ported that game to the Wii as KILLLLLL MEEEEE Wii Edition.
Welp, I'm sold.

Oh man.
That would be perfect.
Maybe have some kind of recursive time loop plot line.
Because he's motherfuckin' sonic

Ironically, it was the one least like the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Going back to the very first name seems pretty common in old franchises.
It's good, he's also not trying to be an emo hardass like in 2K6.
Cleaned it up a bit, lets end it here.
