The blood knights, ethereals, mage guards, wretched bruisers, and succubi hit enough to cause problems for non-tanks. By that I mean you can probably be healed through one or two if a healer focuses on you without interruptions, like glaive stuns or something similar. Any more than that could cause problems.
Now I'm thinking about how to do this instance as a demo tank. Or I should say, how to convince people in my guild to go about it. The instance does seem made for it...
The blood knights don't hit very hard if you keep their Seal off. Try having a mage with a 1.3 speed dagger spellsteal that Seal and go around meleeing people; it's a minimum of 1500 DPS. The mage guards hit harder, the ethereals and succubi hit about the same, and the bruisers should never hit anyone, as you should be kiting them. As long as you have a mage, warrior, shaman, rogue, or hunter, the wretched bruisers and the big sentinel things should never hit anyone in melee.
The average hit on cloth (~10% reduction) is about 2.4k. However, unless you're doing the instance in an all-cloth group, this isn't an issue, as you can just have someone in mail or plate take the hits. Even if you were all cloth, you should either have enough CC and snares that the melee guys never get to hit anyone, or you should have so much healing that their attacks won't matter.

that instance is not so much tuned for non-tanks as it is tuned for warlocks
second boss: voidwalker takes first set of adds, a decently geared warlock can drain life through at least two debuffs, probably four.
third boss: usually at least one demon, you can banish the demon and fear another mob. AOE fear also helps. Warlocks also tend to have pvp gear with upwards of 11-12k hp, making them good at surviving this fight
trash: Enslave the succubus, put her on the Magister. Drain-tank another mob. There's three mobs taken out of the pull, and thats one warlock.
my ideal group makeup for heroic MgT would be three warlocks, paladin tank, and a resto druid or holy priest

We do it on heroic with 4 dpsers and 1 healer, one of the dpsers is always a warrior though.
So I respecced Arc/Fire (With new and improved "Not unusable slow") and my mana broke 11k, my damage broke 1k, and I did 5900 damage with a crit Pyroblast.
Despite all this, I still miss Frost

I miss being all fire spec, but arc / fire really is a lot better.
I'm wondering if I should bring my tank to Magister's Terrace, then arrange it so I can swap it out for my ret paladin on the third boss for extra DPS. Because, outside of arranged guild runs, getting a retribution paladin into there for Shard of Contempt sounds rather difficult.

That sounds like a pretty solid idea. Just have your ret paladin waiting right outside the door so the group doesn't have to wait.
Could someone explain what arena team selling actually is? Is it just 2 season 3 geared pvp'ers sell their 3rd slot to someone and then smash faces up to a decent team rating, getting that 3rd person a lot of points or is it more than that?
edit: Also, what happens to your rating if you just stop playing. Does it degrade or does it stay where it is and you just don't get points?

From what I can gather, it's basically a team at 2k or better playing 7 games, then having one person come in and play 4. Those 4 games shouldn't be enough to make them go lower than 2k (so they can buy weapons or whatever), and at the end of the week, they will have played enough games to get points.
To get points, a team as a whole needs to play 10 games. Then, the players on the team each get that number of points as long as they played in 30% of those games? Is that right?

edit: How much do people pay for this?
I think I saw someone spamming that they'd sell points for 2g per point. Pretty ludicrous if you ask me.

Points aren't the big deal, anyways. It's the rating that people really pay through the nose for, because that's the only way you're going to get access to the weapons and shoulders going forward.
Well by the end of moving everything out, you hate the old place, and frankly I just wanted to piss on the floor and leave, but we were also horribly unprepared (Well, I wasn't), and some of the help we expected (Pierceneck) never showed up.
Also my brother found out he had Kidney Stones via the "Horrible sharp pain" approach, which doesn't help.
we wipefest massively for two weeks in a row, grand total of eight hours, on Gurtogg then get him on the first pull of the evening for our very first kill
A lot of it depends on healers and what class gets the fel rage.
Our first attempts I was the only CoH priest, and while I could keep up all 3 Bloodboil groups I was riding the tanks in threat. Since then we have at least 2 CoH priests (or 2 resto shamans & me) which makes things a million times easier.
As for the Fel Rage target... Mages frequently die, and if you don't have a Warrior w/shield wall top on threat things spiral quickly downward.
Other good ways to wipe: People not spreading out prior to phase 2, $%&ing resto shaman in one of the Bloodboil groups d/cing for the 80th time.
Ugh, 1% and 2% wipes on Brutallus make me a sad panda.
"Hey look guys, about 100k health left! If we hadn't lost our boomkin early, that would've been a kill!" "Oh look, if you guys hadn't spread burn, that would've been a kill!"
Our feral druid tank's gear improved dramatically last week, and healing in general improved, but by gods, we were on the cusp repeatedly and just couldn't seal the deal!

This is what stupifies me about raiding in general. It's not for me, I know, but I just don't get how people can enjoy spending hours wiping on content over and over. I mean, I completely understand the exhilaration you get after a first kill, especially after having spent so much time on a boss, but then you go back to occaisionally wiping on him again and it's even more frustrating because you know you've beaten him before. Add to that the fact that you spend 20-30 minutes per attempt (not counting waiting for people on breaks/afks in between fights) and having to start all over again if the trash respawns and...ugh. Just seems like it'd be tremendously demoralizing.
But then some people enjoy WSG too, and I really don't get that.

I remember when I thought patchwerk was a long hard fight. Then BC came out and boss fights became 20 minutes long. Hopefully this situation is fixed before WotLK.
40 minute fights you mean with insta-gib mechanics and archimonde "Death = wipe" mechanics?
We're "relearning" archimonde after having him on farm for a couple months due to losing about 7-8 of our core raiders. Every wipe makes me hate people more and more.

good old Forar always sticking up for those who cant think of funny shit
Mwahahaha, that's why I exiled myself to 10 mans and heroics. I just HATE loosing 10 core members (this happened like 4 times in my last guild) and all of a sudden we progress backwards from Vashj/Kael to Nightbane. WTH.
EDIT: I do feel TBC opened up the raiding game tho. In Vanilla, I only was able to "see" AQ40 tops. Only raided MC and ZG and never did BWL seriously. I don't see me ever doing bleeding edge content but is it easy to "beat" TBC.
That's what frustrates me the most of my last guild. It's stupidly easy compared to the cockblocks on AQ40 and Naxx and people still find ways to wipe multiple times on easy encounters. Like VR.
I hate to keep asking these since they seem like simple questions, but I can't find the answers anywhere.
Arena has two ratings: Personal and Team. Is the Personal rating the highest rating you've achieved or does it fluctuate like the team rating based on your wins/losses? If it fluctuates does that mean when people who are just on the cusp of 1850, they wait until they have enough points to break 1850 so they can afford their weapon that week? I just can't find any info on personal rating.

I went through everything up to thaddius pre bc, including killing c'thun. It was easier to replace people when you lost people in 40 mans, and tended to have more back ups then you can now a days.
