1. Did they ever remove the DRM rootkit crap that spoiled the PC launch of Bioshock?
2. Does the downloadable Steam version of the game come with this, or does it use its own authentication through Steam?
I really want to get the game for the comp I'm building in June (3ghz 45nm core2, 9800gx2, 4gb ddr2, x-fi) but I want nothing to do with that rootkit shit.
There was never any rootkit. It's only a rumour spread by overly paranoid and gullible idiots. Enjoy Bioshock.
It's not a rootkit, it's a crazy retarded system where you can only reinstall the game a maximum of five times. Yes, the Steam version has it too, because 2K games am dumb. Get the 360 version; the level design, enemy placement, difficulty level, control scheme, etc. etc. were clearly designed with that controller in mind in the first place.
I don't have a 360, and since I'm buying a PS3 in a month for blu-ray and a couple of the games, I don't plan on buying one anytime soon. Is there any way to reset those 5 times, given that the average gamer formats at least once every 6-12 months? Who knows when in the future I may want to come back to the game. Though either way I'll almost definitely be buying it when I build.
