This game REQUIRES an internet connection for authentication and download (I assume that this means patching, at the very least).
Just to be clear, the game requires an internet connection for the following:
1) to actually buy it as the game is bought and downloaded online
2) to authenticate one-time to unlock the game ie. once authenticated, you do not need a connection
3) to patch when necessary
Is that "I wish we had more time because it is coming out sooner" or the incredibly likely "I wish it was able to come out that soon, but will be another few weeks or month"

It's probably the "I wish I could tell these lovely people when we're bringing it out for certain, but there are a billion reasons I can't and won't until we know for certain and are comfortable releasing that information."

I don't see any reason why the price would change. Older episodes might cost less eventually, I guess, but $20 is such a low price point to start with, so...
If you breeze through at 6hours then you're a little on the high side with your $20 spent. However if you're slowly enjoying everything at 10hrs of play, then you're getting good money's worth at $20 spent.
Anywhere inbetween is right on average. I think pricing is reasonable, if only on the higher end of reasonable.

Eh, I guess it's a personal thing. I enjoy PA greatly and I have no issues parting with my cash to give it to them.
I mean, I paid $20 for my PAX t-shirt last year. Their margins on this game are probably a lot lower, and it will probably entertain me more than the t-shirt does.
I know that if I wasn't a fan I'd be a little annoyed at the price.
But seriously, when did twenty bucks become expensive for a game? If Microsoft have really fucked up the Arcade to the point where people complain about having to pay a tenner for Puzzle Quest, then, well. I don't know what to say.

$20 isn't that expensive, but it seems a bit high when you compare it to the Sam & Max episodes which is its nearest competition seeing as how both of them are episodic Graphic Adventure series.
Put another way, at $10, this would be a no-brainer; I would just buy it practically without thinking. However, at $20, I start to think that maybe my money could be better spent on 2-3 other XBLA/WiiWare/VC/PSN titles.

I think that you will find Precipice contains at least twice the content and game length. While they are both episodic, each company has taken a different approach to scale per game.
The price debate will always be there - the issue is that XBLA has been filled with short, casual games that you pop-in, pop-out of like Zuma, Bejeweled, etc. Since the vast majority of XBLA games are these smaller and shorter experiences that cost less than 1600 points, we've all been conditioned to think that all XBLA games should cost that much.
But what would you guys do if you were in our shoes and created a game that was much deeper in gameplay experience and length (takes me about 7-8 hours to finish now if I try RACING through it) that didn't really fit the traditional XBLA-Game-Mold? It was a tough decision, but honestly, what it came down to was stepping away from it, looking at the game and looking at the price tag and feeling that yeah, there's some serious value there.
But you know what, what's great about it all is that you get to decide for yourself in about 12 hours. The demo gives you a basic idea of how things work, and we're all super excited to see what you think!

So true. This is not your typical XBLA game. This is not mother-effing UNO or some crap like that. $20 for an RPG that will take probably at least 10 hours to play? That's a deal. I spend more than that going to the movies for 2 hours or less.
This is such a non-issue for most gamers, that many are thinking of buying it for more than one platform.
Don't listen to the whiners, Robert. This is a very cool thing.
Do you think the game won't be deep enough or long enouggh
That's it. What I've seen of the game makes me think that it's RPG-lite in its mechanics and early impressions seem to indicate that it's under 10 hours long. Considering all the PS2 JRPGs that retailed at $40 and can be found for $20 or less now, paying $20 for an episode of a game has me a bit wary.
Now if I was a bigger Graphic Adventure fan or a bigger PA fan, the $20 price tag would be easy to swallow, but I'm primarily an RPG fan and what I've seen of the game makes me think it's primarily a graphic adventure game with some shallow JRPG battles tacked on for good measure. Now, I'm willing to be proven wrong and I'm looking forward to giving the 360 demo a try tomorrow, but unless the demo really wows me, I'll be waiting for discount pricing on this game before picking it up.
Well, I think you just made my point. This is exactly how pricing works. When those PS2 games came out, they were $40 . . . on a system that is now as old as Moses. Only today can you find them for $20. If all you want to do is play old content, knock yourself out. If people wait until some future time when pricing may be lower, that is totally cool. We feel the game is a great value as an original game that has its debut on multiple platforms including XBLA.
Not everyone is going to want it day one when it costs $20. As a gamer, for me, I love playing games that I am waiting for day one--same with some movies even though it is cheaper to wait until it is on DVD to watch at home at some far off date. Whenever you do decide to play it, we hope you enjoy it; however, the demo only gives a taste on how combat unfolds so given what you have said, I doubt it is going to convince you if you are looking for a hardcore RPG experience--think more Paper Mario meets Final Fantasy.

My PC is older, my macbook seems to suck at games and I don't know how the controls will be on Xbox.

Come on, Khoo . . . you remember that time I asked some questions and you answered them?
Good times.
Psshhh, I wish.
I wonder if we'll see any commercials for the game? That would be nuts. And April 22nd would be too soon to see any before release, I'm sure.
"WOH TWENTY BILLS? BREAK THE BANK WHY DON'T YOU NO WAI!!!!"
I saw that price and was instantly elated by how low it was.

I'll only be getting the demo at first & waiting for a few reviews.
I'd like to hear more about what you think is off about the price. I've been looking for someone to elaborate more for me.
Do you think the game won't be deep enough or long enough or a Penny Arcade game just isn't worth a pair of tens?
I'm just curious what the reasoning is for that.
