Okay. We should be stable for the night. I'm going to go to bed. I have some more tinkering to do to make the site load faster and a lot more tinkering to make it more stable. It turns out eaccelerator was causing part of the 500 errors. I'll bring down one of the web boxes tommorow and see if I can't work something out, while I do that, it shouldn't interrupt service of the forums.

Oh and ctishman, I wear a large. See you in August

Thanks. That means a lot to me. I spend a lot of time trying to make this place pretty snappy. Anyway, I went ahead and pushed the changes into production. eAccelerator is back on again on all the boxes and web5 has joined his friends serving webpages to the masses. Lets see how this fares tommorow. I'm going to bed for real this time.

actually i should say that too

although especially in the past year performance has been hit and miss, when thigns are "on" they are really blazing..

beyond that, throwing in a few small features in the future, and you have pretty much the best forums ive ever used. just has a really good feel to it

I know you don't NEED confirmation of their existance at the moment... but yeah, they're back.

Kinda like how they were before the downtime. Not all-consuming, but definitely noticable every few clicks.

Yup. They're back, but down to a trickle instead of the flood like yesterday. And when I'm not getting 500ISEs, the forum is loading super fast. Great work so far, Alpha. Looks like you're in the home stretch. Keep up the great work. That burrito is almost yours. :P

Same here. I am guessing these problems are universal and that Alpha is aware of them. Thanks for all of the hard work, Alpha. These are the fastest forums I have ever seen, and wonderfully free of ads and idiots.

Hey Alpha, I know you're working on the new forum software, so I figured I'd throw this out here:
Have you given any thought to including a seperate setup to make the forums more accessible from portable devices? Like a version of the forums optimized for QVGA resolutions?
I know I'd love to see this, and considering that this is a pretty gadget friendly crowd, some other people might find it useful as well.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: I want to maek poast from the pooper and I want you to help me.

I'll be honest; PA is already one of the best boards on the net for mobile browsing, due to its simplistic page views and streamlined, low bandwidth interface. Even if you don't make specific efforts to appease us folks using Pocket IE or other QVGA solutions, please don't make the forums look like the front page of PA.

That's all i guess. Grats on the smooth as gooseshit forums.

Even though it's the same error, apparently it's a whole different problem causing it. So, it's progress, even if it appears to be the same. Give Alpha a few days, and hopefully it won't be a reocurring problem, like it was last time with the RAM.

    Screw that.

Also, I would like to feed on the tasty flesh of a moderator. Yes, I will become a cannibal.

Hah, my good sir, that is where you are wrong.

    I don't live in my parent's basement.

What room do I have? Sir, I have my *own* room. It is luxury. Pure luxury.

Man, if you are gonna insult me, insult the quality of my jokes instead of my whimsical intentions.
