Xbox Cheaters (now with less Live!)
Sir CarcassI have been shown the end of my worldRound Rock, TXRegistered Userregular
Basically, Microsoft is now punishing people who cheat through save game hacking to unlock Achievements they didn't earn. They are resetting your Gamerscore to zero, not allowing you to get points from previously unlocked Achievements again (whether cheated or legit), and adding a line to your profile that lets everyone know you're a cheater. You can still get points through unlocking new Achievements.
I think this a great thing. I'm all for single-player cheating, but not when it affects others, like through leaderboards, and that's basically what a Gamerscore is.
They're actually starting to obviously crack down on racist/bad profiles too. I went to check a guy on my recent players list that I reported a couple hours earlier that had a whole bio on "fags", "jews" and the n word in combination with other bad words, they had blanked out his profile with "Code of Conduct".
Apparently his gamertag which amounted to saying "Sucking Dick" wasn't enough for them to change though.

Why do people care about gamerscore? How does this compare to people who farm points on easy games (launch generation sports titles, etc.)?
I always have a small, sad little laugh when I see people who've only gained points from playing Halo online.
Mostly because it seems like they've gone and bought a 360 and a game and a Live subscription just to play ONE GAME online.
That said, if you really cared enough to cheat to get the achievements, getting caught and having your achievements completely reset to zero is a fitting punishment.

If you saw my gamerscore, Halo 3 is all you'd see, because all my points are on a non-live profile.

Okay - I hadn't thought of people doing that, honestly. Out of curiousity and completely serious, may I ask why?

I bought the wireless adaptor a few months after the console, and upgrading an existing profile to a live one deletes everything. If there's a way to upgrade without deleting things, I'm far too lazy to find it.
I mainly use my PC for online games, and live to download stuff like songs for Rockband and whatnot.

What about that guy the other day whose name was "Kill all muslims".

Well, I mean that name is patriotic, we can't go changin' that now can we?

I find the naming and the shaming even more delicious. Although both are a truly excellent method of snipping off the e-penis.
Yeah, if you create a new Live profile you can't merge the two, but you can upgrade once you're signed in with no effort. I have no idea why people have problems with this, to be honest.

I haven't checked up on him yet. And if they forced a name change I wouldn't be able to tell :P
edit: looks like he's been deleted.
edit2: no he hasn't. It looks like they ordered a name change and he simply changed a couple of letters:

I personally don't care about Gamerscores, but some people obviously do if they're willing to cheat to get them. With the easy games, they at least still had to put in a little time and effort to get them. I think it's one thing to say, "I beat this game", but it's another to have a Gamerscore to show for it.
Does anyone remember the Waaahmbulance tha Bungie had a while back? Where they would post the e-mails from people they found cheating? That was hilarious. I can't seem to find a working link anymore though. : P

The best part about live isn't cheating, its showing all my friends online that I did.
