So I reinstalled Windows XP MCE, and now I can't install my software. I get error code 0x80070643 which tells me to download a package, which I did. I still can't install it. This is really annoying since I want to change a lot of my music up. I tried installing WMP11 for the hell of it to see what would happen, and now it tells me I need to have Window MCE 2005 or later.
Install it, but make sure you disconnect from the internet, and by that I mean disable all of your network adapters and pull all of the plugs, so that the setup doesn't connect to Microsoft update, cause then it will fail.

Just tried this, no luck. It says since it can't contact the update server it won't install.

Okay, go download this install package from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6136349F-2B32-4946-83B5-A09775531EF4&displaylang=en. It's 173 megabytes of god knows what. The setup CD won't help you.

Then hopefully that will work. It did for me.

I guess you can try them?

I actually remember putting in the DisableRollback registry value in the registry to help me install the software... I forgot about that part.
Last thing I can think of is reformat, but that's not fun. The problem with Microsoft software is that it's attached so deep into windows.
Maybe you can post something at the Zune forums? I know that there's people working for Microsoft there that might help.
