Help me play old PC games [Technical Issues]

I was in a fairly nostalgic mood so I purchased Curse & Escape from Monkey Island along with Broken Sword ... now since they are extremely old, I hnd ave been running into issues such as sound skipping and repeating, random colors being added to the screen, and complete and utter crashing ... I'm running Vista right now, so is there a program that I could run that would enable me to play these games without said technical issues?

Have you tried right click desktop icon > compatibility tab > run compatibility with some geriatric windows version?

I hadn't tried that, but it seems to be working well, thanks!

also, lucas arts has a program specifically for running their older games but I'm at work and can't for the life of me remember what its called. You should be able to find it on their website though.

ScummVM is the program to play old adventure games including most Lucas Arts games and the first two Broken Sword games. The Broken Sword needs some additional downloads from the scummvm web pages.

That would be it. I have it at home but work restricts a lot of websites, luckily not this one. Also dosbox is useful for playing even older games, from the windows 3.1 and earlier era.
