The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
A small indie team has made their multi player tank game open beta. Right now it's multiplayer only, internet/lan, but it's pretty fun for being an early beta.
Pretty much you do exactly as you see, drive around and kill other tanks. , the website is:
http://www.quanticode.com/zeroballistics/index.php
Zero Ballistics is a unique blend of first person shooter and tank combat, focusing on multiplayer gaming exclusively. To learn more about the details, read the Game section.
We are glad to announce that an open beta version of Zero Ballistics is now available. To download the free beta go to the Downloads section.
The open beta features:
* Two levels set in an alpine environment
* Three different main weapons, and one secondary weapon
* Three different skills
* Deathmatch and Team Deatchmatch modes
* Best of all, it's absolutely FREE to play
Deathmatch and Team Deatchmatch modes are available and if your graphics card supports shader model 2.0, then there is no reason why you aren't already downloading the open beta of Zero Ballistics and start playing right now!
[EDIT]: BTW this is not my game and I have no affiliation with it.
So download and play online or lan, I'm hosting a game right now if someone wants to try and connect.

Ya so, what exactly is this game? how is this so awesome? Why should I listen to someone with 1 post under their belt?
Lol why would it matter how many posts I have. A billion or 0. A indie beta game is a indie beta game...? I registered a while ago but never made any posts.
Figured i would make a topic about a game I believe people might find interesting or entertaining. Sorry if I offended anyone with making a post on the Games and Technology section...

Sitewhoring is against the rules. But given that your not a bot, I'm not going to go out of my way to report it. But reading the rules, and lurking for a time and even contributing helps build a reputation so that when you do start talking about your game, people might be interested then.

Well I must inform you that you are mistaken that you believe this is MY game. It is not my game and I posting about it because i found it and thought it was a fun game more people would be interested in playing. But i can see how people would easily assume I am the creator or owner of part of the team because it was my first post. So my bad...
It is also better to give more info in an OP if it has a link. Just some text about why we should care other than the fact that it is "indie" and a few screenshots would have got you a better reception.

which is why lurking is a good idea. we have fairly high standards around here, and a weak OP is just going to secure derision.
First post drama aside, dude, if you want this thread to not get locked, take a look at the dozens of other [Game On] type threads to get an idea of what the OP should be.
No sig, no avatar, zero information OP's are going to get people all riled up, deservedly or not.
So take a few minutes, clean up your OP, put some better links, some screenshots (you found some obviously), maybe a bit of info on what type of game it is, some basic information about the game, what other games it is like, etc and you should be golden.
EDIT: this stuff needs to be in the OP, not scattered about as the thread goes on, even if you do add more info later in posts, add it to the OP too.
I think it generally goes in life that if you sound like an advertisement people will treat you like one. Especially if it sounds like you are just advertising your own stuff. People don't want to hear about how awesome you are and how awesome you claim your own stuff to be.
As for the game it's kind of fun but needs more stuff. Actually different maps and weapons would be a good start.
If this game is anything like Tread Marks, I will be all over it.
Please tell me I'm not the only person who played it. Made by Seamus McNally, who has a prestigious award named after him at the Independent Games Festival. Anyway, it was back in ...01? Awesomely entertaining racing / blow-up-each-other-and-the-terrain tank game. SO good.
I might actually give the OP's game a shot.

I will say this, I always welcome new- awesome indie games. Tonight just isn't good for trying something like that out. I might try tomorrow though. And thanks for the heads up.
You know what, I think I remember this game. Think I'll give it a shot, anyone else interested? Shoot me a PM incase I forget to check this thread again (and I will).
The screens remind me of an old tank game I used to play about 9-10 years ago called tanarus. Its actually still offered for free online play via sony's station thingy. If its anything like that I would imagine it could be a lot of fun.

Not really still offered for free since they did charge for it for the last 4 years or so. More like Tantarus is once again offered for free. But so is Infantry and Infantry was/is/always will be better than Tantarus.

Tanarus was totally badass back when I first played it. I swear I was addicted to that game for several years and I got pretty damn good at it. When it finally went pay and after I couldn't get my grandparents to pay for it for more than a short while I was sad.
This game looks pretty interesting, I might have to check it out just because it also reminds me of Tanarus and that's a good thing.
Yeah it's cool that the dev team is only 12 people. I was actually playing against them yesterday had 2 of them on my server, and i beat them pretty hard, but then again they were in Australia with 150ms ping and it was 3 am over there...
my name is Michael, i am one of the developers of Zero Ballistics. I'd really like to thank ViperG for posting here, as he is not affiliated with QuantiCode or Zero Ballistics in any way, he was the one withstanding those rough comments.
Hopefully some of you have played and enjoyed Zero Ballistics? I would appreciate any feedback on our game, so please let me know what you liked/disliked.
I like that you've added a Linux version of your game, but are there any plans for an OSX version?
Hi,
our software architecture would allow an OSX version, but we are currently lacking an OSX developer and the according build environment to natively compile it on Mac. Long story short: it is planned but don't expect it to be released in the near future.
I will most likely pick this up once I get my replacement motherboard. Because I think the old GeForce 5200 I'm currently running on is going to have a few problems with this.

Man, I remember Tread Marks. Specifically, I remember writing a moderately unflattering review of the demo, which I did not enjoy very much. (The camera was pretty bad, and the physics were terrible). Then I remember Seamus McNally sending furious emails to the editors of the site I worked for, screaming at them to take down the review immediately before they sued the site for libel. Much ballyhoo ensued: one of the editors actually tried to hang me out to dry, but the other, thankfully, had more sense than that, and told Seamus to fuck right off.
Good times. Still, the experience has sort of soured me on tank racing games. I mean, if your vehicle is driving at 100mph and getting 20 feet of air from jumping off molehills, that kind of ruins the visceral feel of driving, you know, a tank.
we have just released a new version of the Zero Ballistics beta! The new update features some bugfixes, tweaking and balancing issues and a completely new level!!!
It's free and it's fun so give it a try and download the game at:
there should be some mirrors now that provide fast download rates.
Any feedback, comments on the second beta version is welcome. I would really like to know how many people from here have actually played the game and how many liked / disliked it?
Weird attitude coming from the G&T community here. Nothing different about this post compared to many others we see. Just because he is new doesn't mean he shouldn't be treated the same as the older posters...
Anyway, thanks for posting this game, looks interesting! Tanks are generally part of a winning formula
If you haven't heard of ZeroBallistics yet, here is a short description of what it's all about:
The game is designed as a multiplayer online title, featuring some fast-paced tank action. There are two opposing teams battling each other with heavily armed and armored tanks.
Players control their tank from the ego-perspective and fire weapons with a ballistic trajectory at their enemies, which requires a good aiming skill. Each player can equip his tank with different primary and secondary weapons and can choose from a range of additional skills. As the game progresses, players are able to upgrade their tanks with weapon, speed and armor enhancements.
The full version features:
* Three levels set in an alpine environment
* One arena Level
* Three different main weapons, and three secondary weapons
* Six different skills
* BeaconStrike, Deathmatch and Team Deatchmatch modes
* Best of all, it's absolutely FREE to play and OpenSource

are welcome to give us any feedback related to our game!

Wild Metal Country was a short lived kind of fun, but I only got to try a limited version that came packaged with a Graphics Card many years ago.
