Cheap Flights

Perhaps it's Allegiant? They have some strange flights, like from Lincoln, Nebraska -> Las Vegas, and Indiana -> Clearwater, Florida, for amazingly cheap prices.
Also, its worth noting that Saturdays and Wednesdays tend to be the cheapest days of the week to fly, but the best way to drop cost on normal airfare is to try different dates of departure and be flexible with times. If you are flexible and book well in advance, there is little reason to pay more than $100 for any flight between major airports.
*Edit, you can also fly to Philly, DC or Boston and take a cheap greyhound ($12-18) if you don't mind complicating your journey to save an extra $15 and you find a cheap enough fare to one of those three cities.
** when you book a bus ticket in or out of New York City, always book on the web and look for the link to the reduced fare. They will happily charge you 3x as much if you're not looking for the deal. This deal exists solely to compete with the super cheap Chinatown buses that undercut those routes, and it is not going away anytime soon.

Unfortunately, western cultures frown upon arranged marriages, so the vast majority of people have to take risks in order to get into relationships.

You can take a bus, but I would like to warn you that it is a 4+ hour bus ride from DC or Boston to NYC. If you can get a MUCH cheaper ticket to those cities and you are going for a long period of time, then fine, but if you are going for a weekend I would advise against it.

Agreed, I only proposed this because the request was for a one-way. Perhaps I mistakenly assumed that meant there wasn't to be a return very soon. I did a quick search and FL to Philly was $40 cheaper than Philly to NYC at the end of May.

well I'm probably headed from Tampa, Fl to San Diego, Cali
Tampa to SD? Neither are huge hubs with lots of flights. Can you get rides or take the bus to Miami, then fly to LA, and bus or get a ride down to Sandy Eggo?

It searches from a bunch of sites.
Was going to suggest this.

Edit - you won't find their tickets on a search aggregator, you should go to their website: www.southwest.com
