I got my PSP out of my case today, and upon firing it up, I noticed some glaring white specks of 'dust' on the screen. It was after I wiped the screen with a cloth that I realized they are actually underneath the screen. I dreaded dead pixels (since I had 1 white speck that never dissappeared) but these specks look to be between the plastic screen and the LEDs underneath.
Has anyone dismantled their own PSPs and cleaned the screen out? Or am I simply screwed? How the hell did they get inside there anyway?
The PSP uses standard Philips-head watchmaker screws. There's four screws on the back (two are under the battery plate and one is under the warranty sticker), and one on the base. Just make sure you use the right type of screwdriver and be careful, because if you strip the screws you aren't getting in there at all.
The case should simply lift off. I have detailed instructions at home if you want them.
Then just wipe and dry, take all the obvious necessary precautions. Canned air wouldn't go amiss.
also obviously you'll void your warranty blah blah.
