Have you ever said to yourself, "I'm only going to play 1 character?"
Have you ever stuck to that self-promise?
I basically only played one character in DAoC.
I technically started a Thane the first week, but they were broken (release bugs, woo) so I started a Spiritmaster. I didn't play another class (other than betas) for a year and a half or so .
At the moment, I only plan on playing a Squig Herder. But a couple of the other classes look really nice, so I will probably be trying a couple others to see what suits.
1. I want a flipper. I'll likely make a Marauder but won't be playing it as a main character
2. Squig Herder
3. Whichever nuker suits me from disorder
The Marauder looks cool but I gotta see what they get to counter witchfinder invisibility. I think they're along the same class vein per race right?
Then there is the squig herder which looks totally bad ass. I've never wanted to play a goblin due to the stigma of them as "weak" in most fantasy. Games like NWN and Forgotten Realms/Dragonlance really ruin a goblin's personality profile. This round in my life however, someone seems to have made a goblin I would enjoy playing.
Apart from the attraction of a morphing arm I really want to play a ranged class. The Squig herder looks alright but what beats good ole' fashion nukes eh? So Magus / Sorcerer depending on which one has more nukage.
edit:
As a magus, my disc shall rotate. It will be decorated with velvet and plush furs and pillows. It will softly play songs by Haydn, Bach, and Cannibal Corpse. Captive Elf Maidens will line up in droves to have their spirits sacrificed to my god and their bodies ravaged in an all night bbq.
It just says they're in the same tier. The individual class pages just don't offer enough for me to make a distinction. Gotta see more footage!
THIS LOOKS COOL THOUGH!
Path of Monstrosity
The Path of Monstrosity focuses on the Marauder mutating their arm into a hideous club-like bludgeon of flesh and gore. The master of Monstrosity can use the massive bulk of their warped arm to defend themselves somewhat, and can sweep their limb around in broad, arcing swings, capable of damaging several enemies with each single smash.
No. Marauder and Witch Hunter are in the same class vein in that they are both Melee DPS classes. Wytch Elf is the opposing faction version of the WH though.
I've always prefered support class over straight DPS class in MMOs. But healing/buffing support over tanking cause like dojango said in PvP some healing is better than none and I like to be the one that turns the tide in a fight. The toughest choice of course was which order to play them and with the information of the DE support class out it'll be the following:
in theory yeah. but until they put black guard and kotbs in the game its hard to draw any sort of comparisons
Pretty sure I read somewhere that KotBS is going to play like Chosen with auras, Black Guard more like the Swordmaster with more focus on two handers. That makes the Ironbreaker and Black Orcs match up more believable.

I always did good on healers in pvp myself. You get more control. I think this is because you can see your group's health bars and gauge where your support is needed. Even if you've got enemy health bars over enemy heads it's chaotic to get your aim and keep track of who needs what.
I wouldn't call healing easier. It needs to better managed to be effective.
Dark Elf - Sorceress/Empire - Bright Wizard == Cast spells building up a greater and greater crit chance, but at the same time build up a greater chance to "blow up" and damage yourself
Dark Elf - Witch Elf/Empire - Witch Hunter == Various items/potions/etc... temporarily embue the character with extra energy/damage/speed/etc...
Dark Elf - Disciple of Khaine/Warrior Priest == Melee combat in order to gain Favor/Life essence
Dark Elf - Black Guard/Ironbreaker == Build up Rage, spend it on better attacks
__________________________________________________ ________________
Chaos - Chosen/Knight of the Blazing Sun == Auras (twisting)
Chaos - Zealot/Runepriest == Place Marks/Glyphs on allies/foes to buff/debuff ??
Greenskins - Black Orc/High Elf - SwordMaster == Chained attacks
Greenskins - Choppa/Hammerer == Berserk and Momentum seem to work in similar ways, getting more the longer you fight depending on your attacks
Greenskins - Shaman/Archmage == Build up Waagh/Light Magic to enchnace spells/heals??
Greenskins - Squig Herder/White Lion? == Pets??
It makes sense, if one class can be ranged, and the other can be melee. This is only based on mechanics, though; it's clear that they don't have the same roles.
Cherrn on
All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
Pretty sure I read somewhere that KotBS is going to play like Chosen with auras
Yeah, KotBS and Chosen are matched. Knights have Commands and Chosen have their Auras. Basically the same thing.
And if the Blackguard retains the Hatred mechanic, they pretty much have to be matched with the Ironbreaker. But we haven't seen an update on the BG to see how exactly they are supposed to work.
Taking those, that only leaves on "sketchy" paring, Black Orc - Swordmaster.
Those don't really match at all, other than both being tanks.
BOs had Dirty Tricks last I heard, not sure if that is still in. I don't think Dirty Tricks matches well with Blade Dancing and Balance though.
EDIT: so, Jacobs put up a Beta Q&A on the WARHerald, and he addressed the mythical Guild Beta.
Question # 5 – But what about the Guild Beta, when is that going to start?
Answer # 5 - One of the things I’ve been saying for the last few months is that we do not want to invite the guilds into WAR en masse until they can really experience and participate in every aspect of the game. These guys and gals represent some of the most experienced MMORPG players in the North America and Europe, and we want them to see the game when it is in really good shape so they can get as positive an experience as possible with a beta product. They represent one of our core audiences and showing them the game too early would be a mistake. I’m quite sorry that the guild beta has been delayed but as I’ve said regarding our recent delays, we will ship this game when it’s great and not before. And since we have pushed back our release schedule, dates for phases of the beta are pushed back as well. In the end I know that the guilds want the same thing that I do: for WAR is a great game. So I ask the WAR fans in general to be patient just a while longer, the same goes true for the guilds. Once we can lock down a date for the guild beta, we will begin contacting the guilds so they can prepare to unleash death and destruction on their opposing realm.

It started as "Heh... I wonder if all the letters for that sentence are in there." And ended with "Yes they are, and I'm a loser for thinking that was a valuable use of my time."

I believe it was, sir. And do not let anyone tell you otherwise.
I suppose the new HE mDPS class could be the White Lion and the pet could be the way in which they mirror the mutation. Different types of lions for different duties? It would also mean the pet is more of a visual item than a separate entity. It is always beside the WL and attacks as part of certain skill animations.
my beta journal about "crafting" was selected to be in either the next herald update or the next newsletter
That rocks, congratulations. I rather imagine that you can't talk about it until it's published, but if you could talk about it what would you say about it when you weren't not talking about it because you aren't allowed to.
It actually has absolutely nothing to do with anything that happened in beta at all or any mechanics that are in the game. Just a story focused around one of the tradeskills.
It might be easier if you just give us your username and pass. That way we could just log in and see the trade skill. This way you don't have to do anything!
So guys in June or July at the Games Day Toronto should I ask Mythic people for specifics on why they sent Guild Beta invites out 13 or 14 months they planned on letting us in and if they're going to let us in at least one week before gold?
Good plan. I bet they've never been asked that one before :P
Also ask the disciple of khaine question, whatever the hell that was. Something to do with lo(gay)re.
I don't care about lore or cannon or what ever its called these days. I'm just a bitter person thats all. At least I'll get some hands on time while most of you will still be waiting.
Posts
Nyes. Yes I do.

Engineer
Marauder
Shaman
Chosen
Warrior-priest

Marauder is stance based.
Yeah it's hard to tell. Wiki.

It's all I really want to play.
Black Guard - Knight of the Blazing Sun
Wytch Elf - Witch Hunter
Sorceress - Bright Wizard
Disciple - Warrior Priest
Marauder - Unnamed HE Class
Chosen - Ironbreaker
Magus - Engineer
Zealot - Rune Priest
Shaman - Archmage
Choppa - Hammerer
Squig Herder - Shadow Warrior
Black Orc - Swordmaster
Not really sure on the tank pairings, Choppa or Marauder though
fuck i dont even know, i bolded the ones im 100% on tho
Chosen - Swordmaster
IronBreaker - Black Orc
that seems more like what they were getting at, seeing as weapon scheme anywase
both IB and BO use 1h sheild and sword master/chosen being better suited for great weapons
Robot from your list there's no pet on the order side right? Gives credit to the Melee/pet class that people are talking about....
Rumor is the the Pet for Order will be a White Lion. In which case I'm game for that instead of Swordmaster. Or maybe I'll do both.
Disciple of Khaine
Shaman
Zealot
Warrior Priest
Archmage
Rune Priest
