Dustbowl is a monstrously awful map and it makes me crrrry.
I still don't see why 2fort get dropped from rotation but that gigantic god-awful marathon map persists.
As far as custom maps go, just suggest some and I'm always more than happy to give them a shot. There still has not been a user made map that a significant portion of the server enjoys. There always seems to be 30-40% of the server that bitches when corporation or redstone comes up.
You know, I think 30-40% of the server bitches about Hydro, Well, Granary, and Badlands too. And it appears people are getting to dislike Gravelpit and Dustbowl, as well. I'm all for the inclusion of 1 or 2 custom maps on a normal server at a time, and it looks like alot of other people won't even play if that isn't the case.
Also... isn't it possible to limit classes on maps? Couldn't you limit all classes to 3 on ANY map, and then do additional limits for Demobowl and 2fort? I think a Dustbowl with 2 max Demomen and 2 max Engineer would be a crowd pleaser, at this point. And a 2fort with 1 Sniper, 1 Engineer, and 1 Scout(the scout limit so they can't take advantage of the single Engineer) would make it into an actual map.
I'm just trying to offer solutions, and seems like this would ease alot of complaining...
Good ideas MR, however (there's always a however! DAMN ME!) I think there will be people bitching either way. I could care less as long as I get to play one way or another, but there will always be bitchers.

Yes but see going all pyro or all heavy + medic is fucking fun as all hell. Just because some people don't like maps has nothing to do with class limitation. Plus, if they are bitching about too many of one class, GO BE THE OPPOSITE OF THAT CLASS!
If the enemy team has all scout rush, then everyone go pyro or engineer, they'll have NO chance. Every class in this game has a class you can counter attack with, you just need to stay communicating and mix up your strategy if it isn't working.
No matter where you go, there will always be bitching(edit: damn you pros you beat me to it!), you just need to balance it to an extent that it's agreeable.
Hydro is an excellent map that offers a lot of variety, but granted it does get old when you play the same stage 4x in one cycle of the map. Granary is still fun to me, and different because a lot of people frown upon it.
In my opinion, play the damn map when it comes up, if you play gravalpit all day and dustbowl all day it's going to be the maps bitched about. I played 2fort yesterday with all of you and it was amazing fun. Let me stretch my legs and practice my scout and sniper. Only reason people hated 2fort before was it was automatically after dustbowl and no one took 2fort seriously.

Yes, but its looking like some of these things are becoming game-breaking to some of the people I like to play with the most. People bitch about Hydro and Well, but unless its too late or too early, people will play it after they're done saying what a crappy map it is. Theres talk of not even playing on normal servers. I think one issue is bigger than another.
LOL figures my dongstacking is my best kd/ratio. All them dongs must be mesmerizing me. Thanks for the post AfroJ! Also great healing yesterday as medic, you were doing great.
-Pros: haha nice, let me guess, a picture of like 100 heavies lined up running over enemies? hahaha oh man either way this is going to be awesome.

Well, I'm going to have to disagree. With 4 Demos, 2 Medics and 4 Engineer on defense of the last point of Dustbowl, it becomes much harder to take than it should be. I'm talking the attacking team has to have great coordination to be able to break through, where all it takes for the defending team to do is spam grenades, whack their sentries, and counter-uber. There should not be an EZ MODE for any map, but there is for Dustbowl. I enjoy the (sometimes impossible) challenge of it, but its an issue for other people.
Really though, for those engineers to be really unbalanced at 3-2 they needed to have at least two lv3 guns set up before BLU makes its first major push, which means they have to abandon the first point of stage 3 early.

Yes but mandy the maniacal medic (so gay), this is all about preference.
What if you're on the team that's getting nonstop steam rolled and you guys don't know what to do? Sometimes (including myself) people will just feel like going all engineer and campfucking the shit out of the point with 12 sentries. Plus it's funny as hell killing a heavy in mid-air with 6 sentries on his fat ass.
Sometimes doing random, yet cooperative all class strategies are fun. Sometimes you just don't want to be serious and just pick a class with everyone else and mow down as many as you can.
Hell, sometimes I just go retarded classes just to try it out in certain situations. Nothing gets me more mad than a server limiting classes like snipers and spies.
Plus, you guys know just as good as I do, that most of the time when a team goes all one class they lose miserably.

There is for 2fort as well, the only difference being that it leads to stalemates instead of wins. But for a while there we seemed to have a lot of people who honestly figured not-losing was just as good as winning.
And as mentioned people will always bitch, but there comes a point where some people will also stop playing, or just leave the server. Which, if we take as a given that more full servers are more fun servers (true for most, though I know some see differently), is a bad thing.
Though really I'd only support class limits on the couple of maps where it's a huge issue. Dustbowl with Demomen, 2fort with Snipers, maybe Engies and Scouts, and maybe Granary with Scouts.

It's just a hell of a lot of fun when you do it.
Well there are certain classes that can ruin a map if there are too many. Demo and Engineer come to mind. Sniper for pubs usually, but 2fort brings out the pubbie in us all.
Although it was more fun than it should be bum rushing the enemy team with 7 pyros, all in one group. My god... how they ran. I don't know, you're right there... it is fun on occasion to have a douchebaggery good time. But I still think Engineer/Demo should have a limit for all levels, and moreso for Demobowl/2fort.
I think there was a great example of both uber pushes and crit streaks on last night's Stage 3 dustbowl
We took the first point, but couldn't get ourselves set up at the final corner to the last point. We were pushed back all the way to the underbridge tunnel entrance for most of the map, pushing heavies and medics while the other team had at least 4 demos and 2 engis.
Our team just kept going at it, getting to that corner once or twice, but always getting uber-pushed back.
Then just something happened. We got up to the corner. I, knowing the medic next to me had an uber (and being thoroughly frustrated at this point) Jumped down into the middle, finding a sentry and all their demos there. Pretty much caught them off-guard, as they started to backpeddle (S key + stickies = pro-demo tactic). The uber wasn't on me yet, but once I got revved up and started firing I hit a crit streak. Knocked out a good number of the demos and the engi at least. Uber activated, popped the sentry, and we sprinted for the last point, and the team followed behind (gasp! a novel idea no?!). Killed a pyro, another demo, a sniper, and that was game.
The other team was dominating us in the usual demobowl fashion, but one good uber push and crit streak broke this. This exemplifies 1) The need for offensive DB teams to have multiple medics to get the uber rolling going 2) The imba of crit streaks, great for the fun/pub games, but if that had happened in a competitive game there would be many unhappy people (as I easily knocked out half their team alone)
As for limiting classes, nah. If they're hitting you with spies or snipers, just switch up your strategy or something. The server shouldn't have to accommodate for you losing
It's a series of pictures originating from 2channel, depicting an animal spokesperson for (nearly) every fetish. The most popular were pedobear (pictured) and shotacat. There's also (i think) gurodragon, heteropanda, and some others i can't remember. I'll have to /r/ it later.
