Off the top of my head, movies that I thought were good that have him in it (not necessarily as the lead actor); A Time to Kill, Sahara, Contact, Two for the Money. Looking up IMDB, movies that I've heard people like that he's been in also include things like Edtv, We Are Marshall. He's also in Tropic Thunder which looks great.
I don't have any great love for him, I just think you guys seriously don't give it any consideration when it comes to "Hah, he sucks olol" and expect everyone to agree with you.
He looks like if he had a couple of months to prepare, he would be in shape for the role.
And since he is known for his dedication in preparing for roles, I have all the confidence in the world that he would do a great job.
Plus, he has the added benefit of not being Brad Pitt or Matthew McConaughey.
Why, that's a fine neckbeard you've started growing.
I thought that Justin Hartley or whatever his name was did an amusing job in Smallville. Physically he has the chops for it, but I couldn't recommend him for a big screen role.
Cary Elwes' most recent role was the step-father who molests Lindsay Lohan in Georgia Rule, so he's officially made the dreaded transition from swashbuckler to bloated rapist.

There's no coming back from that.
He already was a rapist in that movie based on James Patterson's books that starred God himself, Morgan Freeman.
Maybe it's just the way I've always seen him, but back when I started reading his comics in the Mike Grell days, I've always thought of him as someone who is physically fit, but not to the level of someone like Batman. I also like the idea of him being older. But then again, there's probably a reason I am not a casting director.
I just want to say, speaking as an actor and a director, that everyone here who's making casting decisions based on 'physicality and looks' can bite me. That will get you a good poster, but a horrible shitty movie. Iron Man wasn't an awesome movie because Robert Downey Jr. looked the part, even though he kinda did - it was good because he's an excellent actor with good direction. The same is true for every movie, super hero or not.
You know, I think Sam Rockwell could play a good Green Arrow. He has a tendency to play smug, likeable jackasses, fits the part physically, and he's not a big enough name to overshadow the character.

I read somewhere (I can google if we really need proof. Odds have it at either JoBlo or Comingsoon) that some guy was in a special effects place, looking at Hellboy 2 stuff, and saw a picture of a blue guy with a tail.
He asked about it, and the guy sitting near it said it was the start of the design for "Beast, in the new X-Men Magneto spin-off movie."
He asked him again, if he meant Beast, because there was a tail, and the guy was very adamant that it was Beast, for X-Men Origins: Magneto.
...
I think now that Marvel has its shit together it may be time to start ignoring the movies that are made without thier direct supervision.

Which sounds cool, except that I've been working on one of my own for like six months, praying hollywood wouldn't catch on for a few more years. I thought I had some good ideas .

Of course, at this point, it's just a difference of opinion.

That was all I was looking for really, the fact you've seen some movies outside his romcom shtick and can comment on his performances.

I think it'd be really funny to see him in the role of an adventurous little person.

He was the voice in the last Bard's Tale game and that automatically makes him better than any other suggestions.

At least not in that costume.
That is hardly a benefit.
I really hate saying this (and trust me, you will hate me for saying it too) but Heath Ledger could have been an awesome Green Arrow.
I am going to stick with Brad Pitt as my top choice though.
There's no coming back from that.

Here is a more recent one from what looks and sounds like will be a shitty movie, Sakura: Blue-eyed Samurai.

Reign of Fire was terrible, and I even wanted to like it.
I'll admit I liked Contact though.

I'd watch it
It's the two who wrote the Punisher sequel Tom Jane wouldn't do.
