Captain America to be set in WW2, a period film if you will, probably ending in a cliffhanger that is resolved a few weeks later in Avengers? Yes, please.
I just want to say, speaking as an actor and a director, that everyone here who's making casting decisions based on 'physicality and looks' can bite me. That will get you a good poster, but a horrible shitty movie. Iron Man wasn't an awesome movie because Robert Downey Jr. looked the part, even though he kinda did - it was good because he's an excellent actor with good direction. The same is true for every movie, super hero or not.
what movies have you been in
So far just student stuff - I don't live in hollywood.
BKV's apparently writing the script, and since that's all that anyone knows about it you'd have to say that so far survey says "they're doing it right so far so maybe". If you wanted to base your judgement of the final movie from an internet story about it being greenlighted, that is.

The idea of a comic book movie with a cast primarily made up of teenage/young-twenties actors, not to mention the "ADORABLE" little girl fails to fill me with hope.
Which sounds cool, except that I've been working on one of my own for like six months, praying hollywood wouldn't catch on for a few more years. I thought I had some good ideas .
Highlander would be so much more awesome if instead of duelling with swords they duelled with high-tech powered armour.

I'm curious as to whether they're going to play Cap off as simply heroic or superhuman in his film, considering the WW2 setting. Will it be simply a war movie, or will it be a superhero battle set against the background of WW2?

Red Skull as the villain?
I'd imagine he'd be portrayed as super-human, or at least batman level peak physical fitness. If I recall correctly, prior to the serum, he was something of a failure as a soldier. Not exactly summer blockbuster material there when set against the backdrop of world war II.
I wonder if there will be any reference to Wolverine though. I seem to recall they spent some time fighting together during WW2. It would be nice to see, even if just a passing reference.

Steve Rogers was almost literally a 98 pound weakling who had been declared physically unfit for duty by his draft board. He didn't even make it to the Army. That's the whole point behind him volunteering to take the super-soldier serum.
And if it's going to be Ultimate Cap, then it makes him like 300 pounds of muscle (or so Pietro bitches), and/or Bru's Cap who can run like a mile in approximately a minute or two.
As long as the shield is cool and he punches Hitler in the face, I'm down
As much as I really, really want him to punch Hitler in the face - my guess is they will steer far away from anything heavy. I can see them mentioning Hitler, and Nazi's and whatnot - but this is a super-hero movie, and my guess is they're going to say:
"Hey Captain America. Our good boys are off fighting Hitler and the Nazi regeme, but we need you to do something far more important. Hitler is taking orders from someone worse than himself, or the Nazis. THE RED SKULL."
And then you'll never hear Hitler, or Nazi for the rest of the movie. It's gotta be PG-13, and it can't possibly insult anyone who is sensitive to the idea that Captain America was punching Hitler while thier relatives were in real life concentration camps. When WW2 was going on, a superhero punching Hitler was awesome and inspired morale. But now in the aftermath, it walks a thin line between STILL being awesome, and playing light heartedly with one of the worst events in the history of the world.
So like I said, I personally wouldn't have a problem with it - but with Marvel movies doing so well in the mainstream, I can't see Marvel taking any sort of risk to draw critics on such a major topic.
And I think a GREAT movie can still be made if you just seperate Cap off from the rest of the army, with only his 'elite troops' - Bucky, maybe even the whole Invaders, and then a group of throw away regular soldiers who were chosen to escort him. Move them to somewhere ELSE in Europe during WW2, where the Skull is based with his own army, and you're all set.

Could be so good.

Cap set in WW2, and a Runaways movie written by Brian K. Vaughn.
Interesting day so far.
Hi Crimson, welcome to like 3 posts above yours

Yeah I waited to long to post that but at the time it was the last post I saw. I still stand by my statement

"Hey Steve, turns out Peter and I have the same idea of what a protege should do for his mentor!"
I've been in student stuff, too!!! 8-)
I'm not an actor
so... that's pretty cool news, huh?
Perhaps in the style of X-Men Legends/Ultimate Alliance. Could be awesome.

What's this about a Runaways movie?
Brian K. Vaughn is even writing it!

I am the undersecretary of jokes
At least I hope so. Red Skull is one of my favorite villains.

You know, I prefer moderately superhuman Cap.

"Hey, remember when I punched Hitler in the face?"
Anyway, punching Hitler also happened before the U.S. was involved in WW2. It's just a cover to a first issue to sell comics. God...
He still should do it
It's in Russian, but it's also pretty damn bloody. The movie looks pretty cool actually.
