Liked the game, but hated the end. Haven't played Wesker's 2 final levels yet, but I was mostly concerned with what took place between Code Veronica and the fall of Umbrella, and was kinda upset that it literally was "Hey meet me at Umbrella HQ. There's monsters in there!" So I was really hoping 5 may pick up with Chris and Jill AFTER Chronicles ends. Looks like its gonna pick up farther after than I had hoped...

Well chronologically it's set after RE4, but I suppose there's always room for a "prologue" chapter to go over those events before getting into the main game proper.
Which really really pisses me off, as it is far and away my favorite Resident Evil.
It could just be a nostalga thing, because I loved my Dreamcast and was all happy in High School when it came out - but just looking back on that game I love it's story, location, charecters all a ton more than any other RE.
The whole Ashford relationship with Umbrella, and just the awesome location change, and Wesker...man. Code Veronica was so close to perfect (pre-RE4). The end of Code Veronica may be the most wasted bad-ass cut scene in history.

Wesker's still in Code Veronica crazy mode from the looks of things, so I don't see why the game didn't happen.
This better get some kind of a Wii release. It can handle it.

Code Veronica wasn't very good anyway, at least compared to the other 'proper' RE games (so excluding the Survivor and Outbreak spinoffs). It's nowhere near as bad as RE Zero but it still doesn't come close to matching REmake or RE2.
Anyway, I'm super hyped for both RE Degeneration and RE5. The animation in the Degeneration trailer is pretty poor but I'm still pretty keen on getting the Blu-Ray version since it looks to be the first real RE movie.

The RE5 discussion is near the beginning but I should warn you that a) the audio isn't so good (they don't have the right gear so there's a bit of an echo sometimes) and b) Garnett's pretty drunk. That said, they all seemed to love RE5 and Garnett really liked what he saw of RE Degeneration.
And Code Veronica's my favorite RE. Part of the reason I bought a Dreamcast.

In case there was any doubt, from another forum:
They didn't retcon RECV, since the official RE5 site mentions the "Rockfort Island incident" on Chris' and Wesker's profiles. I'm guessing it has more to do with the fact that RECV was the only game in the main series handed out to another developer.
I might also add that the Umbrella facility at Antarctica had a replica of the Spencer Estate.
