I'm sorry if this is considered a "Plug and run", but I'm here to post information about a gaming tournament that you all might been interested in...

Well... I'm currently an active member in a gaming club at my college, and we are currently gearing up to host a charity tournament. It's for anyone that lives in the Tri-State area (PA, NJ, NY), but anyone that wishes to participate and can make it down here can join in.

Anyway... Here is more information about the tournament.

Time: 3pm to 10pm
Day: Friday, May 2 2008
Competitor fee: $5
Spectator fee: $2

Smash Bros. Brawl: 7:35pm to 9.40pm
Guitar Hero III: 5:10pm to 7:30pm
Call of duty 4: 3:00pm to 5:05pm

Registration


Participants can pre-register up before the tournament online. Entrance fee to play is $5, which will be collected during the day of the tournament.


If Spectator is interested in competition in tournament they can return to registration and pay a fee of $3. This will only be allowed if there is an uneven bracket of competitors or tournament hasn’t started yet.


Systems

Guitar Hero III and Call of Duty 4 will be played the Xbox 360. Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be played on the Nintendo Wii Console.

Rules of tournament



NOTE: RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DURING UPCOMING WEEKS INCLUDING DURING THE TOURNAMENT! PLEASE KEEP POSTED!



This tournament is open to 14 and up; however, any participant under age 17 must have their parent or legal guardian to sign a consent form.


Free play will be available though during the tournament to both Competitors and spectators.

There will be controllers available at the tournament. Participants are welcome to bring their own controllers for use of tournament, but they are subject to prior approval by a Tournament Organizer (T.O.) before they are used in competition.

Controller Calibration must be done before starting of tournament with a T.O. present. Done around any time while tournament is at motion, this will be look at as cheating and will be disqualified.

Games will have their own separate rules to adjust with time and amount of player present at event. Please read the one that you will be participating in.


Tolerance Rules



There will be no:



Fighting

Racial or vulgar language and gestures

Destruction of property or equipment

Outside Coaching

Cheating

Sexual conduct of and kind



Both competitors and spectators that have failed to follow any of these rules will be asked to leave the premise of the area.



Donations

The entrance fee money will be donated to the United Way of Ocean County. Any extra contribution can be made at registration desk and will be available to through out the tournament.


Game Rules

Games have their own separate rules to adjust with time and amount of player present at event. Please read the one that you will be participating in.


Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (3:00pm to 5:05pm)

Three will be 2 brackets, A and B Bracket. All players will began the tournament starting at the A bracket.

Time of matches will be as following.
Rounds 1 and 2 will be time up to 5 minuets.
Rounds 3 and 4 will be time up to 10 minuets
Rounds 5 and 6 will be time up to 10 minuets.


The top players within the high 50% will move on to the next round

Example: If 10 compete, the first 5 with highest scores move on to the next round.
If the numbers of players are uneven, top 2 players in that round move on

Bracket B:
Players who where eliminated in the first round will have second opportunity return to compete against the winner at the end of the tournament. Same rules in the first tournament apply. 2 players from bracket B will compete with other 2 from the winners bracket from A.



Guitar Hero III (5:10pm to 7:30pm)

The tournament will be a 1 on 1 face-off, Single-elimination format with single song rounds.
The player with highest score will advance to the next round. Ties will be resolved by highest percentage, then by note streak if required.

Song will be chosen at random from list consisting of all songs and downloadable songs.



Smash Bros Brawl (7:35pm to 9.40pm)

Their will be two brackets; Casual and Competitive.

Casual Bracket: Will have set time limit to 3:00 with the use of items (Smash ball included). Semi-final matches will be on the battlefield stage and final round will be on Wario Ware.

Competitive Bracket: Will have set time limit to 3:00, with no items. Semi-final matches will be set to Battlefield and the finals match will be set to Final Destination.

Winners of both the casual bracket and the competitive bracket will be asked if they wish to participate in a exhibition match with each other. If both agree, the match will have a set time limit of 6 minutes, with the use of items (set on low; no smash ball). No prizes will be given to the winner of this tournament; match will solely be for bragging rights.

Stages: Unless playing in the casual bracket, Competitive players are only allowed to choose between Neutrals and Counterpicks.
