Playstation 3 and Blu-ray Problems

So.

Sometimes when I insert a blu-ray DVD into my PS3, my PS3 doesn't really react...as in..play the movie or go to the menu or even show that there is a disk in the damn machine. I'll get the little loading swirls at the top right but after minutes nothing will happen and the swirl will just dissapear.

I've tried every combo of turning the machine's switch on/off, booting up the machine, and inserting the disk. No dice. Every other odd day or so this happens and I just cannot sit down and enjoy a movie for the life of me.

Please, Help/Advice Forum, get my PS3 to read my darn blu-ray disks!

It doesn't show up at all? Is it just one disc in particular? Maybe one publisher?

This does sound very odd, first time I've heard of this.

Did you try checking the Sony / PS3 forums?

a friend of mine had a similar problem, his ps3 wouldn't read blue-ray movies or play ps3 games. Basically his blue-ray reader died and he had to ship it off to sony and get it replaced. It only took about a two weeks or so ... maybe less to get the whole thing done and over with. (Also they did not replace his system, they just replaced the blue-ray drive.)

Sounds like your drive is busted. Off to Sony!

yeah...so is the repairs and all free?

if so, shitty cause i bought a warranty from best buy and the first thing i read when i opened the box was "don't buy a warranty from your local retailer." $150 down the drain.

Best Buy warranties rock! Just walk in, hand them your old one, no questions asked, and walk out with a new one!

Was your warranty srsly $150, though?

Unless there is a way for you to move them to your PC, or an external HD, or something.

I'd call customer support and see what they have to say about it.

You can download anything you've already bought free of charge through the shop, there's a list in there of things you've already paid for, making it fairly simple.

Plug a USB drive into your PS3 and copy your save files. Most will work just fine, some not at all. Notable, Need for Speed Prostreet will NOT copy.

    Fuck EA!
