I found a deal about Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC 30 inch Wide-Screen Black Flat Panel Monitor for $1199. But at this price..... worth to buy? anyone have got it yet? how do you think of it? is it a good deal?

I'm about to head out to see what they've got for models.

Hmm, honestly at 1199 I'd save up a little more and get like a 50" DLP TV or something, but that's just my opinion.

Well, a TV isn't going to have as high a resolution.

It's better than any price I've seen on newegg for Samsung's similar model, but make sure you've got a graphics card to match the monitor: 2560x1600 is a lot of pixels to drive.

My TV works just fine at 1080p personally. I can deal with that resolution :)

It's pretty great for graphics work and gaming, I didn't game much on one but I've seen my friend play UT2k4 a bunch and didn't notice much ghosting(though I could be wrong about that, I wasn't paying incredibly close attention). I've used a couple and it's a nice screen, iirc it requires dual dvi, so make sure your vid card has that.

So in summary, if you have the cash for it and you like the idea of having one giant monitor(instead of two smaller ones) it's a good choice.

Why not buy a regular LCD monitor? I'm using a 1080p 37" Westinghouse as my monitor, and it was <$1000.

How are those for gaming and color correction stuff? I thought one would be a nice option as well, but I haven't done the research yet.

Even at 1080p, TVs are worse than monitors.

    30" with 2560 x 1600 vs. 37" with 1920 x 1080.

    You're dealing with essentially 1600p vs. 1080p.

1600p on a smaller monitor means smaller pixels and a sharper image. Go with the 30". It's got like a 30% higher resolution.

Edit: The most important thing in regard to gaming through is that crazy resolution. Good luck pushing the graphics-intensive games without a beefy card.

I doubt anything could run Crysis at 2560 x 1600 at a decent framerate at anything above "low detail".

only downside to that monitor is lack of other inputs.

but so far the 30"s that DO have other inputs also have horrible input lag, because of the scaler that's introduced.

    I say go for it!
