This is probably something I'm not going to be able to learn just by reading about it, but...
Can anyone give me advice on how to do drum rolls on hard mode? Right now my method is to pound on the drums as fast as possible, but it doesn't seem to work.

Slow down. They aren't ever as fast as they appear to be.
So, is there some HMX advocate I can go to and give them sexual favors so they will add in a Bass Solo career? Or make Solo guitar mode like world tour where I can pick which part I want to play on a given song.
Either way, I want to get points for playing Bass dangit!
I haven't had a chance to sing the new songs yet. I played drums on them and I thought they were pretty good. The Crue song, however, made me hate Tommy Lee just a bit more because there is an obscene amount of bass kicks that are off beat.
I still like the song, though. Sister really liked it, so go figure.
New songs are kick-ass. Only sang Simple Man, but it was damn fun...course it's a favorite of mine so I expected that. In fact, played guitar/bass/drums to it too, all fun though drums were very easy (I play on medium though, so take that for what it's worth, everything else was expert).
I am having a problem though w/ my strat...the downstrum is sticking. It not really missing strums, except for on occasion when it gets really stuck, but it just throws me off a lot, screws up ho/pos, and is generally a pain in the ass. Anyone know of a quick fix here, like some WD-40 maybe?

hey guys! I just got a job as some HMX advocate!
So...you know.
When you get a chance.
I have progressed only downstrumming as well. I am stuck on Flirtin' and GG&HT, damn the solos. I also managed to progress to this point with never hammering on or pulling off (strummed everything), so the solos are a bitch to play without that experience.

Wow... Message in a bottle sounds so different. Was the GH2 version the master? or was it a cover?
So, I picked up a copy of the disc, and also a wireless guitar.
Any idea when the full albums are going to actually start coming out?
No, nobody knows. Also, by not buying a drumset you're really missing out an a huge part of the Rock Band experience... I recommend them.
I have zero interest in them, I have NEVER been able to get them to work when I've tried my friends' sets, I have no where to set them up, and I NEVER have people over, so I'm just looking at single player.
A drumset would be a horrible waste of money on my part.
While really really easy, I still found Simple Man fun on drums. Kinda relaxing even. I was surprised to find the song I had the most trouble with on drums was Call Me. Something about it just screwed me up.
All of the songs were fun on guitar. I did find Message in a Bottle easier than it was in GH2, just because of the difference in the strumming part during the chorus between the two versions. Though the different solos kinda screwed me up a bit as they didn't match up with the muscle memory my hand had built up in playing the song on GH2. All in all a pretty good week on songs.
The drums on Message in a Bottle are awesomely fun. I was worried I was going to fail out and then everything just clicked and my sister and I ended up gold starring it.

I actually felt a little disappointed in the drum's note pattern on this one. It feels like they made it much easier then it should have been, like all the symbol accents in the first half are dumbed down or something, can't place it exactly.
I do think Call Me is far more fun then it deserves to be. Holy Disco.
I'm gonna be on all day if there's anyone interested in my drumming. invite me at your leisure.

I severely want to play the new songs this week (going to get all 4) but my friend who lets me use his high-speed doesn't get out of work till 4 and i have a date, so I shall have to wait even longer still.
Edit: cymbal / symbol is a justifiable pet peeve, considering they are vastly different things.
This is the best guitar week since the Grateful Dead tracks. Really good stuff. Gold-Starred Simple Man and Message in a Bottle first run through. As for the Blondie song, I think it's great. I love it when they break HO/POs into those little sections. Brass in Pocket did this as well.
EDIT: Also, I 100%ed Simple Man first time through, and I think that's my longest streak ever on RB, 1085 notes.

Wait, you can gold star non-solo songs?
Not only can you gold star them, I find it substantially easier. The same 5 star score * 1.5 seems to be the needed score, as far as I can tell.
I thought it was 1.5 * the score you 5 starred it on. Generally speaking. I know there are some near impossible full band songs to gold star (Detroit Rock City and the Metallica pack songs).

Did they ever fix those tracks that were reportedly bugged, preventing you from ever get gold?

Nope. When they had the "Rock with the Devs" some people asked the HMX devs about them. To my knowledge, "Vasoline" and "I'm So Sick" are impossible to gold star on vocals for lack of activation areas and enough Overdrive. On drums, I know "Seven" has too high of a gold star cutoff.

Man, I would kill for some Finch, or Alkaline Trio. Most of their songs are right in my comfortable range for singing. Having a low voice and preferring to sing higher-pitched songs = odd. Also, the lead singer of Coheed really needs to do something about his balls. I mean, let 'em breathe, man...

I was pissed, because I should've gold starred both Simple Man and Call Me, but on both songs my fingers would go retarded at random times and I'd miss just enough notes to kill me. I must've been within a couple thousand points on both of them.
I was disappointed with Simple Man. It wasn't bad, but after the awesomeness of Freebird and Gimme Three Steps, I was expecting more awesome. It was just mellow and kinda neat, but a bit repetitive. It was like if Sweet Child O Mine was nothing but the intro for five minutes. SCOM was awesome because it had that great riff pocked with some cool chords and a bad-ass solo. SM was just a great riff by itself, and a great riff by itself does not a good song make.
I loved Call Me and Message In a Bottle, though, and was also surprised by how different it was from the GH2 version. I need to do vocals on these tonight, now. I always love singing Police songs. Sting == awesome.

It was only Medium vocals, but I was still pleased. :P
I applaud your effort sir.
I may consider getting a mic stand and try that myself. I don't know if I'd be man enough to do the Boston tracks though, it makes my balls hurt just thinking about it.

Also, I spent like $30 on songs a few days ago, got the police pack, classic rock pack, arguably punk pack, my iron lung, both weezer songs and roam.
All are great fun to play on guitar and drums. I've now got six songs by The Police and that makes me a happy panda.
